Been coming to this whole in the wall for years and the food is consistent and spicy like I love it. The staff has been there for years and they are so sweet. The food is inexpensive and tasty that’s all there is to it. Love the chick peas and chicken with rice. Be prepared it’s super spicy. Not a place to get dressed up for perfect place for jeans and sneakers and a healthy appetite. Oh don’t get put off by the microwave heat up if it’s not hot enough ask them to heat it longer.

So I’m home today from work. Why? Well I have a pretty good feeling it had something to do with the Cuisine of Pakistan. Look don’t get me wrong the food was tasty, cheap and convenient but unfortunately not worth spending a day at home riding a wave of sickness. :(

I spent $ 125 last night at a popular highly rated upscale restaurant in Alphabet City last night and regretted every dollar and calorie — wasn’t wowed by anything I tried, which included my meal and tastes of 4 other people’s orders. In contrast, in this classic hole in the wall far west Hell’s Kitchen outpost, no frills straight out of Pakistan restaurant, for $ 18 I ordered three different entrees(ground chicken, potato and cauliflower, and lentils) on rice, a sweet milky pink Kashmiri tea, and jalybee and baklava for dessert(needless to say I had a lot of leftovers in take home containers after I filled myself to bursting) — and every bite and sip was pungent, well seasoned, delicious and authentic. I’d take this sort of traditional ‘real food’ done right over fanci-fied new cuisine in ‘nice atmosphere’ any day. Besides, who says that a steady parade of individuals and families in colorful Indian and Pakistani garb, various cops in uniform taking their dinner break, friendly Pakistani faces behind the counter and a muslim prayer screen in the back of the restaurant, isn’t nice atmosphere? I love this place. My second stop in. Plan to put this in my Everplaces app so I remember to come here more often.

Every time I want tasty, spicy, authentic food for cheap, I come here. It’s a greasy spoon kind of place, with delicious food. It’s on my block and I get takeout at least twice a week. I’ve had the curried chickpeas, lentils, cauliflower, chicken, and lentils… all delicious. And $ 9 or $ 10 for a huge platter that could easily be divvied up into two meals? You can’t go wrong. Doubtful I’ll live in this area forever, and I will surely miss this place when I leave.

This is a no-frills restaurant with outstanding food. The chicken tikka kebabs are some of the best in the country and is the can’t miss item on the menu. Great naans and chai as well.

If you fancy yourself white tables this isn’t the place for you. If your idea of good food is ‘fusion’ 9th Avenue is chock full of near inedible bro cuisine. If chicken Tikka masala is your idea of Indian cuisine Chipotle is calling your name. If, however, your idea of great cuisine is authentic food in an unpretentious setting, coupled with a constant flow of all walks of life this is your jam. The menu is unique each day; be a regular like me and you’ll know it by heart. Much kudos is due to the great folks at Kashmiri 9. Spicy!

why is everything microwaved here? Am i the only person that finds this concerning. Found this place by accident, ordered a bunch of items and each plate was microwaved then served… The place itself is just ok, the ppl seem nice, i didn’t get sick SURPRISING — but why the microwave?

Kashmiri tea, fabulous samosas and amazing spiced chicken in puff pastry. We ate breakfast here(they open at 11 am and we get up late) and took food to go for the plane.

I don’t think you can find better biryani in all of NYC! Huge portions, super low price, and absolutely genuine taste. This place reminds one of some small hole in the corner place is Lahore. They even serve Pink Tea(Kashmiri tea)! It’s not for formal dining, but we love it anyway!

When I first came to this place, it was interesting to see a section in the back for Muslim prayers while the rest of the place looks more like a cafeteria than a diner. The food is very good and the long grain rice is perfect. Almost everything is in curry sauce, Chicken, lamb, veggies. They have fried eggplant, potatoes and the rice special with 2 meats for $ 10 includes a side salad. They give you foam cups with a pitcher of water, but what I do is go to the corner bodega, get a Tecate or Modelo and there’s an improved meal for you altogether. There was one time they hired a very nice Cantonese girl from Brazil who spoke to me in Cantonese and the boss and patrons alike mocked us and even more recently, the food server said«Chinese and Korean same thing Ching Ching Chong Chong,» If you are an attractive female, don’t take it personal that the owner keeps staring at you. Before serving your food, they nuke it in the Microwave and the food is generally not hot after its been microwaved. Salad is more onion than lettuce so it’s spicy. I only had diarrhea from this food 2 times out of the 5 times I’ve been here. I don’t know if thats good or bad.

I’ve eaten here before and been okay, but this time my sister and I both got really, really sick. It had to be this food since we both ate nothing else all day, and had this takeout together. I have a really strong stomach and I’ve always been fine even after eating cart food in NYC, every single time, for years – so their food here was clearly NOTCLEAN! I will spare you the details except for, we both had a really bad stomach ache for 2 days. I hope whatever it was doesn’t cause any more damage…

Avoid at all costs. Ignorant owners about ADA law and ignorant clientele. In today’s day and age, being told to sit at that area and«hurry» is beyond acceptable.

I love this food, great blend of spices, just perfect, they can customize the spiciness in each dish, love the chai, and great Biryani. it’s great for group gatherings, price wise not bad. it’s always bz, has delicious sweets, and specials everyday of the week. Must try Chappli Kabab with naan. 2 Adults can fill up easily for $ 27 includes dessert and tea. Will be back!

The distinctive green awning may be gone, but Cuisine of Pakistan keeps going, serving«nice and spicy» Punjabi food all night along. The following things have not changed since I first visited five years ago: * The mint green paint job * The stall in the front, which used to sell videos but now hawks mobile phone accessories * The worn prayer mats in the back Jars of waters on the table, cups dispensed upon ordering * The special kabob and naan, mixed in with raw lettuce, tomatoes and onion * The main behind the counter, who seems to be there whether you arrive at 5 pm or 1 am It’s all very low rent, but of course the line of parked cabs outside and the longevity of the establishment are clues of the quality of food on offer here. Well after 3 am on July Fourth, I came here with a friend, walking down from Hell’s Kitchen. All of the booths were occupied, as people had platters of lentils, samosas and boned chicken before the sunrise or their shift began, whichever came first. Subcontinental food can be a real disaster on the island — overpriced, under seasoned and presented in dull, fake-fancy surroundings. This place looks like nothing else if not a rest stop I once visited many years ago in Haryana — bustling, well-lit but otherwise spartan. And the food is damn tasty, no matter the hour.

The chicken biryani here is so legitimate that I’m writing this review as I’m in the restaurant in between my biryani break. Spicy, flavors just right, raita on the side to cool things down — I will be finding my way back to this place to get my biryani fix. Plus, as I eat, I can enjoy the sounds of kitchen directions being spoken in Punjabi. Feels just right. Only reason it’s 4 stars is I haven’t tried anything else. If and when I do, I’ll revise my review. If I should be so lucky!

If you want greasy & authentic Pakistani food without the passport, this is the place to go. All dishes served with a side of regret. The food here is average, but memorable just bc of how greasy and uneasy it makes you feel afterwards. The mango lassi however is a must try. I could get that injected into my veins. Staff is really friendly & helpful. This place seems like it’d be good after a long night out & a better alternative to Waffle House(is that even in nyc or just a southern thing?)

This little place is a tiny little hole in the wall spot for Pakistani food. The place looks kinda dingy with the lights dimmed and the green paint feeling kinda stark. The food is set up in a little buffet line where you look at the person and point to what you want. Two items and basmati rice is like…8 bucks. It’s tasty, it’s a lot in a little tin and it hits the stop when you feel like you need some pakistani food. I think i can pass on going to get it again though. For the food it’s only ‘sok

Had biryani the first time cause its my kryptonite. All the other food looked really good as well and freshly made around 1 pm. It got busy really quick as well. Will def be back to try the other dishes! Most Pakistani’s restaurant’s aren’t going to be rated highly if the food is in front of you and they microwave it. When I’m working in Manhattan and craving Paki food I’ll get it but its nothing spectacular.
