Covo, we’re gonna miss you so much. The best food in the neighborhood, a beautiful ambiance, fantastic staff and so much soul. Hope you can come back somehow soon.

Sadly, two weeks ago COVO joined Coccola as a victim of increased rents and shut their doors. Go to Bo-No at 151st and Broadway where Luca continues to play host to now transplanted Covo aficionados that have had to find their way elsewhere.

Food is really good we usually always order the calamari, spinach avocado salad, fig pizza and sausage pizza. It’s a family favorite. It’s right by the Hudson so you can go for a nice walk to burn some of those cals. Lol

COVO: CLOSED Many Unilocalers have commented over the years how Covo was more than just a restaurant. Covo was not only a place where you went to meet friends over great drinks and food, the people of Covo themselves had become your friends and extended family. I went to visit Covo not only for food and a drink but to check up on how the people who worked there were doing. Today I am truly saddened by the fact that greed and short-sightedness has sunk yet another great neighborhood institution. On a block where shady money opened one failed business after another, it was Tony and his staff at Covo that provided true hospitality and professionalism. So to the property owner who killed Covo I say, we, the patrons will remember what you did to our restaurant and our friends. I for one will not step foot in any establishment that will open on that block. That is the flipside of consumer capitalism Mr. shortsighted landlord, as the consumer I can decide where to spend my money. Considering that the block is now EMPTY and DESOLATE once again(great job landlord, great job) this should not be too difficult. Ten years ago nobody was standing in line to rent a space in a former abandoned motel that was overrun by homeless people, hookers, pimps and their esteemed clientele. If you want to see a glimpse of the old block watch Vince Vaughn’s movie«Made» from 2001. When the two Mafia stooges were supposed to meet in a desolate shady looking place, they met in front of the building that now housed Covo. Covo quite simply created that block. You, Mr. Landlord should be paying them for creating a destination. But I digress… To Tony, Luka, Rolo, Heiro, Ivan, Lisa and Vladimir(and many many others) I say from the bottom of my heart: THANKYOU for 10 great years. Thank you for creating a community living room where I met friends, made new ones, laughed, cried and kept on coming back again and again. Where or where am I going to get a Sangria that rivals a Long Island ice tea in potency? To me a new drink was born, the Long Island Sangria and I have pictures to prove it makes people do wild and crazy things. Covo, you created magic for ten years. Thank you. I already miss you…

Covo is great. I come here sometimes for pizza or sometimes for grill calamari and there penne a la vodka is amazing. The staff is great and the ambiance is perfect. Great place, great music, great food, and great service.

We had the margherita pizza, simple and perfect. The crust was thin and held up to the sauce and mozzella. This was absolutely perfect… and sublime. The service was spot on and intuitive… we were not interrupted by the wait staff but our needs were anticipated. I recommend this spot for lunch, for late afternoons, anytime. The décor was rustic and there was ample room to move. love it!,

Found this place to eat as it was closer to our meeting. Food was very good, but service should be elevated a bit. Very inattentive. Here’s a pic of waiter busy texting rather than serving.

Pretty much live here. The food is delicious, as are the drinks. The service is even better. My favorite dish is penne al pesto with a glass(or two) of prosecco. If you’re really hungry, the chicken empanada app is great to share. Guaranteed to have an awesome time upstairs. Lisa, Rolo and Jairo are all awesome

The dining downstairs is well worth it but for a more laid back setting, eating upstairs is so much more fun. The bartenders are friendly and sociable and the table service is just as friendly. The food is delicious and you can still order off the full menu while your seated upstairs! Guaranteed good time with delicious food and tasty drinks!

This place is great to take your dog with on a nice afternoon lunch/dinner. Seating is outside of course. What I didn’t like was the server we got. He was really slow. He walked past us a few times without attending to us all while attending to the tables around us constantly. We had to flag him down to give us more water and to get our check and everything else. It was just annoying. We got the maialona and the lasagna. The maialona was really good. It was nice and saucy. It tasted as if everything was made fresh. The lasagna was good as well but I felt like something was missing. You have to wait a bit for it to cool down to be able to enjoy it. Would recommend this place.

Our hosts took us here while we were staying in New York, and the food and service here are fantastic. It’s in a slightly secluded spot, and when they were leading us, I wondered what on earth we had let ourselves in for, but the restaurant itself is lovely, and even has outside seating, which in the summer evening, was a really nice tough. The pizzas were very good — I had the pear, prosciutto and gorgonzola pizza which was sublime — and the sangria was both refreshing and very tasty. The service was also very prompt, and the prices were very reasonable. Thoroughly recommend giving this place a visit, if you fancy going on an adventure into an otherwise seemingly empty area of town!

My partner and I found this place while we were stranded on the streets, as a fire was burning up our high-rise building(luckily our place was fine, just smelly. still smells like smoke). That morning, we woke up to so much smoke that you couldn’t see five feet in front of you, proceeded to freak the f*** out, and ran down twenty flights of stairs in our pajamas with two dogs and a cat in tow. So we got hungry during the HOURS that we were stuck outside, and ventured to Covo Trattoria just a couple blocks from us. They(and nearby guests) were totally cool with our animal herd of border collie, dachshund, and black cat sitting outside with us while eating, and also cool with me looking like a bum in my pajamas. The food was surprisingly good and had decent prices. Made me feel a bit better about the fire burning two floors below our apartment, because when doesn’t food make you feel better. We ordered a prosciutto pizza and french toast. Pizza was especially delicious. We’ll be back. Thanks for being cool in dire times, Covo.

Amazing time as usual! Best food and best bartender ever! Check out the bar for a great happy hour. Tuesday night was rum specials. J made us a pineapple rum drink with a coconut foam. Mmmmmmmm. My favorite pizza is the Figi.

Covo makes me happy. One of my favorite to do is to bike ride along the Hudson and end up with a rewarding and delicious brunch at Covo. The presentation is fantastic, the food is delicious and the staff is fun yet professional. It’s a big place for plenty of people and has outdoor seating(and a bike rack). Musts: Croissant French toast with berries and Goat Cheese and Spinach omelet. Omelets can be bland or boring, but Covo seasons it’s just perfectly. Brunch comes with a coffee or tea so for $ 11/12, how can you go wrong?!

Just the beauty of the place alone is worth most of these stars. Throw in great service, good food, a lovely upstairs lounge, and top mixologists(ask for Jairo.) Came here for a bday party for Leslie O. Definitely want to come back again.

I visited Covo last Thursday for a company gathering. There was at least 20 of us and still, with such a large group I would have to say the service was pleasant. The server was very attentive and they made sure that the drinks kept going — speaking of drinks, several of my coworkers loved ‘the dragon’- I enjoyed the prosecco and rum punch(delicious). Aside from the actual food I am big on ambience and Covo has a very rustic, antique feel. They also offer outside seating which is great for this time of year. For my meal I enjoyed the skirt steak which was so flavorful I basically began to force feed myself after I was full! lol Our group also had just about every appetizer on the menu and we thoroughly enjoyed the huge shrimp! They also have a great wine selection!

I recently hosted my sister’s Bridal Shower at Covo. We absolutely loved everything from the vintage décor to the friendly service. The place is very inviting. Luca, the manager, was helpful, cooperative, and always of service. He setup the tables before I got there and helped carry the decorations from the car. Throughout the event he was in the side lines ready to assist me and our guests with anything, he was even taking our food orders !!. The Bridal Shower was held upstairs in the lounge area which has its own bathroom. That was an A+ … It made our event even more intimate. Our Bartender/Server Rolando offered the best service I can imagine. He made sure the guests were well attended to, filling up drinks, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having a good time. I give Rolando 5 stars ****, he was friendly, energetic, and always willing to help. We ordered from the Brunch menu, and the food was appetizing, there was a variety to choose from, my sister said she loved the Crab & Eggs Benedict and I devoured the Huevos Rancheros. If you dont go for the food, or the romantic, rustic décor … then go for the drinks which are the best I have tasted yet! — Happy Happy Hour is from 4:00pm — 7:00pm everyday ! Covo is a hidden treasure — I will definetley be a regular …
