Walked in on a rainy night and had a delicious dinner. In every dish, each ingredient really shone through. Kale and Brussel sprouts salad was crisp, lightly dressed and topped with finely grated Parmesan cheese. The balance of fresh flavors was lovely. My friend had the braised short ribs and I had the grilled Branzino — both dishes were perfectly cooked. The sauces and sides really enhanced the main dishes. For dessert, both the bread pudding and the pear crumble were delightful. Service was pleasant — only a little slow bringing the check in the end. Come to enjoy straightforward dishes executed beautifully.

The Quick: Extremely charming, rustic brunch spot. Solid 3.5 stars. Food was very good, service left something to be desired. I would return. The Details: Any brunch place that offers bottomless mimosas and boozy drinks(additional $ 25) is worth a try in my book. That being said, our glasses were almost always empty. The décor was great, simple yet inviting. The shakshuka(5 stars) was by far the winner, followed by the fried chicken salad(4 stars). The omelettes and chicken sandwich were both decent, just lacking excitement and were overpriced. The service was okay. Extremely friendly, but didn’t really have their acts together and were so frazzled they accidentally overcharged us(by $ 150…) I would return, but possibly for lunch or dinner during the week when it’s less crowded. The Damage: Brunch entrees are ~ $ 20. Before booze and tip we spend $ 25 each.

I’m really glad my party was automatically charged a 20% tip. If not, it would have been the first time I gave 0%. We came with a party of 20. 1. The waiter was not attentive at all. I felt like we were invisible even though we took up the entire restaurant. 2. The waiter spilled an entire glass of rose on my white sweater and dry clean only pants. I’m now walking home stained and sticky, and they didn’t even offer to pay for my dry cleaning! You can go other places and get quality food without the terrible service. Plus it’s crazy that I had to tip so much and now have to pay for my dry cleaning. I would give 0 stars if that was an option.

Albeit a friend and I came for drinks at an off time — 3pm on a Friday; but there was no one from the restaurant in the dining room to greet or seat us, so we took a seat at a table and waited another 5 min for someone to appear. When the waiter finally came out he gave us an odd look and was not friendly or welcoming at all. He took a long time to bring us menus, and when he finally did and my friend asked what kind of wine they had he directed us to look at the menu, instead of explaining to us. The rest of the service didn’t get any better and it seems extremely overpriced, especially the wine. Will not be coming back. Try Mari Vanna across the street, fabulously cute Russian place.

More like 3.5 stars, but I’ll round up because the food quality was excellent. Made a last minute reservation and coaxed the hostess into seating us early. I wasn’t actually too sure what to expect from County, but the pictures looked pretty good, and it seemed like a pretty casual, yet intimate spot. Started the night off with a candied ginger old-fashioned, which was good, and not too sweet, which I was initially wary of. The inside has a pretty rustic and modern feel, with a lot of faux old wood paneling. At first glance, you probably wouldn’t think this is a good place for a dinner date, since it’s so bright and bustling, but the vibe was still pretty intimate and cozy. We decided to go with multiple sides and one entrée, since we were feeling hungry, and also wanted to try a number of things. We went with the butter-poached prawns(more like a salad), the roasted mushrooms, risotto, Brussels sprouts, and the fried chicken with hot sauce butter to share. My favorites were the roasted mushrooms and the fried chicken. The roasted mushrooms were great on their own, and didn’t really need accompaniment, and the fried chicken was crispy, not too heavy on the batter, and still juicy on the inside. Service was a little hard to come by at the beginning and the end of the meal, as we were waiting a bit for someone to take our order, and it took a while to finally get the check. However, it didn’t really ruin the experience, and we did get drink refills pretty quickly. The prices aren’t too bad, with everything being generally $ 30 or below. That being said, $ 25 for a burger and fries is a bit much, in my opinion. This is one of those fringe restaurants that really has a lot going for them, but the experience wasn’t particularly out of the ordinary. That being said, I’m not the type of person who has to be blown away every single time they go out to eat. Given the plethora of mediocre restaurants in New York, I would say County does a solid job with their food, presentation, and general ambiance. Will I be back? Maybe. Would I recommend County for a solid dinner? Definitely. Not too bad for a liquid dinner, either. HA!

Great place to come with friends/a group. Great ambiance. It was one of the few places in the area that was quiet on a Saturday night. Great drink menu and good quality but very expensive mixed drinks. Fresh made ricotta was delicious– nice twist with the mint and honey– we had 2 of these. Salmon tartar on crispy rice was also pretty delicious. Others had salmon, which I tried and was average/pretty good. Cavatelli dish was pretty tiny for the price and average — 3 stars. Dessert — panacotta was very good and bourbon bread pudding were very good — 4 stars. County chef sure knows how to cook. I feel prices were way too high though and the portions much too small. That would keep me from returning. But definitely fair to say a good place to give a try!

Came for brunch with friends on Sunday. I liked the décor and the place was not too crowded(although I can imagine the place can get a bit loud given the acoustics). Food was solid: I had the salmon and the fresh ricotta. Salmon was filling for me, meaning the portion isn’t the largest, so if you’re hungry, I would steer away from this. Ricotta was OK: I would’ve liked a bit more flavor(maybe a more rich ricotta or the fresh honey could’ve been sweeter). Boyfriend had the chicken sandwich, which was large and solid. I would not recommend the side of sausage: it’s OK. The fries were good, although if you get the sandwich, there is no need to get another side of fries. The free cheese puff things people raved about were just OK: the pastry was a bit bland. It was a pretty dish though! Think the part that wasn’t the best for me was the service: server seemed on the dismissive side, going through the motions and not making an effort to make us feel welcomed. Hostess tried to make up for it by filling up our coffee cups each time they were empty(nice try!). This makes me wary of coming here when it’s busy considering there seems to be other individuals who’ve complained about the lackluster service. I would come here again, but probably avoid coming here during busy times.

I was really excited to try this place but came away with mixed feelings. The bar area was nice and the happy hour seemed reasonable. $ 10 daiquris that aren’t frozen, $ 8 select wines and $ 6 beers. This runs from 4pm –7pm After having a few drinks, the rest of our group of 4 arrived, so we moved to a table for dinner. I want to note that the entire staff was great and I have no complaints about that at all. Thank you! Now onto the food : Complimentary jalapeño fritters were light, crispy, fresh and hot. Tuna crudo/cubes were not as amazing as all the reviews made them out to be. It was good, but not amazing. Fresh cubes of tuna with vinaigrette and some avocado sauce. Simple and clean. Salmon tartare was my favorite dish of the night. I would return just for this and a glass of wine. The salmon is more minced, the horseradish sauce with jalapeño is a nice contrast that livens up the fish. The salmon is heaped over these grilled cubes of sticky rice that offers a great textual balance and is seasoned well. Cheese plate with two cheeses. It’s a cheese plate, and was pretty standard. Sadly there were no charcuterie options. Shortrib was disappointing. The meat was tough and dry inside. The risotto was slightly under done. There were bits of super sour grapefruit in there that didn’t make sense. The parmesan crisp was fine though, and the only good thing about it. The spring cavatelli was ok. I thought it was bland, but the group thought it was tasty. Profilteroles were a hit. This is the dessert to get. Textures, sweetness and quantity were what I would expect from a good dessert. Bread pudding was amazingly bad. For $ 12 I got a tiny cube of bread pudding that was so soft it bordered on mushy. The top wasn’t even slightly crispy. The dessert was also barely sweet. I really have no idea why this dessert is rated so highly. I contemplated this as a 2 star, but that salmon tartare, the Profilteroles and the service makes this place ok.

Valentine’s Day dinner review I made my reservation on opentable way ahead in advance but the day off I wanted to come an hour earlier at 5PM so I called and it sounded like no problem.(There were still openings on opentable.) We arrived at 5PM and the staff were still meeting and feeling awkward we stalled for about 5 mins but since it was cold and snowy out we decided to come in. I can’t say we were quite welcome, felt a little more like we interrupted? We were seated at the last table in the back, romantic. $ 95 for a 5 course meal, awesome right?! Meal started with complimentary rose, champagne, or «strawberry quiver.» The ricotta was amazing as usual, crab toast was plentiful. Grilled octopus had perfect texture and flavor, poached shrimp was luscious. Pesto fettuccine hearty and delicious. Short rib was tender and rich, I couldn’t even fish it all. Wild black bass was good also. Hazelnut flan good texture with sauce that I kept going back for and bread pudding was divine! I don’t even like bread pudding usually.

County was packed at 9pm on a Friday night with a young, trendy crowd. The male host up front was super sweet, offering to take our coats when we arrived(no charge) and helping us snag a couple spots at the bar when they became available. We were too hungry to wait 45 minutes for a table. The bartender doubled up as our server. He was busy, but still managed to be quick, attentive, and friendly. To drink, a generous pour of red wine for me and an IPA for my bf. Soon after a woman came out and gave us an amuse-bouche of tasty jalapeño poppers. For dinner I ordered the Cheddar Burger, which came drenched in a chipotle mayo and crispy onions on a sesame bun, and shoestring fries on the side. The first half of the burger was delicious. Then the mayo started to overpower it and I couldn’t bare to take another bite. The shoestring fries were good, but hard to eat with your hands. I ended up eating them with my fork. My bf got the Pork Tenderloin with bacon marmalade, lemon apple sauce, and brussels sprouts. He devoured it, along with the other half of my burger. Overall, County is solid. Good service, good food, good ambiance. A little overpriced in my opinion, but not a surprise considering the neighborhood.

County is a nice quiet restaurant in the Flatiron area. Of course there are tons of restaurants in this area to dine at but ultimately I chose County based on Unilocalers beautiful food photos which I hope I added to. For drink we tried a few cocktails and were not disappointed. For a starter, the gave us jalapeño popper(for free :) We ordered the characeturie plate as well as the tuna app simply because both sounded so delicious. I enjoyed the meats and cheese and our plate was so nicely presented. The tuna was SOOOOO good. It was dressed in olive oil vinaigrette type of thing with avocado and we enjoyed every bite. For our entrees we shared the short rib and the quinoa. I would easily order both dishes again. The short rib was cooked just right with a delicious sauce with pomegranate seeds. The quinoa had a nice mix of mushrooms on top. Service and ambiance were top quality. Prices were reasonable for this area.

What are the things that stick with me about County after having visited a couple times now for lunch and brunch? Here are my top five observations: 1. Tuna cubes: delectable. 2. Roasted chicken sandwich: not something I would ever think to order usually but outstanding. Incredibly flavorful chicken. 3. For brunch they brought out little complimentary apps for all of the tables. I was intrigued by the cheese puffs that others were getting but they must have run out with us because we got little toast points with honey. Still pretty exciting. 4. Any place in Manhattan that take reservations for weekend brunch is a-ok by me! 5. This place is EXPENSIVE. The aforementioned chicken sandwich was $ 18. $ 18 for a sandwich and some potato chips! Granted they were very tasty but whoa! I also ordered a fresh grapefruit juice which was $ 5 for the teeniest glass(see photo for evidence). Definitely not a place to go if you’re pinching pennies. So what are you waiting for Mr. and Mrs. Moneybags? Throw on that fur coat, tell Jeeves to bring around the Bentley, and drive straight to County for a tasty and pricey meal!

Top 3 things to check out: Salmon tartar, burger, and cocktails. And if it’s on the menu, order the truffle fries.

The food here is outstanding. Having come by for a large group lunch, I was fortunate enough to try and/or see many different dishes… so I can tell you that everything was well-presented, carefully cooked, and absolutely delicious. The real winners for me were the Tuna Cubes appetizer, and the BLT Chicken sandwich. But I can’t tell you that either were better than the Crispy Chicken, or the fresh ricotta either. The only downside I can really see here is that I’m not a millionaire, and as such I need to care about prices. These seem a bit too steep. I think everyone would benefit if they set up some sort of lunch special. You might think that by everyone I just mean me, and you wouldn’t be far off. Because I want to be eating this food more often… it’s just a little too far over my lunch budget to make it a staple.

Loved the décor in this spot! Came in for a lunch, so can’t really speak for the crowd, but left with a smile as the food was wonderful. The Tuna Cubes(Avocado, Radish, Ginger Soy Marinade) are ridiculous. No different from a tartare, but with a great marinade and fresh fish. Loved it. The organic quinoa(Fall Vegetables, Soffrito Soft Poached Egg) was solid as well. The perfect portion for a light lunch. Should you choose to indulge, please get the roasted chicken sammie(Arugula Mayo, Bacon, Pickled Jalapeño, Chips). It’s a combo of so much awesome. Hope to be back here again soon for some more fresh eats!

3.5 stars My boyfriend and I had a pleasant experience at County. The best thing we had was the Salmon Tartare. If you ever have been to Koi or other trendy Asian spots, they do a crispy rice with tuna. This reminded me of that except it had salmon. I got the filet mignon and my boyfriend got the lamb chops which were a special. We were pleased with both of our entrees. All the tables were not full on a Saturday night but I was happy about this because the tables are very close together. While this was a solid meal, I’m not sure i would come running back any time soon.

Went here with a party of three to celebrate my birthday. The ambiance of this place is cute. We sat in a little booth in the front, very comfortable and intimate for a party of 3 – 4. Service was good, everyone was really nice. We never got a refill on water and our food took forever to come out … But the owner came out and explained later that they were having problems with their wifi and the kitchen never got our order … Either way, people were nice but they still could have been more attentive. Food was excellent!!! Appetizers: Roasted Beets — whipped yogurt was soooo good with the beets! Would definitely get this again Salmon Tartare — also delicious! The crispy sushi rice adds great texture and flavor to the salmon with the perfect amt of sauce and lemon zest!!! I already want more! Entrees: Burger — I’m not a burger person, but I had a few bites to try it out(as I always do) and it was a perfect medium rare with lots of juice and flavor. The truffle aioli was AMAZING! Roasted Pork Belly — I usually don’t like fatty meats, but there was only one big piece that I easily cut off. The rest of the meat was so tender you don’t even need a knife! Great to share as everyone can just pick off the plate! The mustard flavor is perfect — compliments the rest of the flavors very we’ll! Ricotta Cavatelli — lastly we got our pasta dish. While this was still good, it was my least favorite of everything. Flavor was okay, pork meat and pistachios were amazing. Pasta was good Must get the top 4 items. 5th item I could do without!

Been meaning to go this place for a while and finally made it. Made a reservation for 8.30 and was seated prompt with no fuss, not bad considering every table was taken . The scene is great, I love the décor and would definitely recommend for groups of 4 –6. Not sure what previous problems were with acoustics but what ever it was its gone . I’m not starving so we only order 2 starters and 1 entrée, thank the gods we did as the portions are huge . Started with the ricotta — its creamy and drizzled with sweet honey — delicate, subtle and perfect served with toasted bread. salmon tartar — this is a huge starter and should definitely be shared, its amazing. the salmon comes on crispy rice squares similar to that of koi’s over in Bryant park except with an amazing lemon crème fraise. we tried to order the burger as it has great reviews, sadly they had sold out, even more sad as I watched the last one pass before me and get handed to the lady next to me. I have to stop staring at other peoples food ! So we order the fried chicken, over collared greens and garlic mash. Now forget your normal fried chicken, this batter is similar to the one you would get over fish in a traditional fish n chip shop, very light and a little salty but all in all a great and perfect for sharing. Finally finished with the bourbon bread pudding… BOOM ! This is a must ! The bourbon is very subtle and the flavor and balance are perfect. The server even gave me a little ice cream on the side … you might say this was the icing on the cake . coming back for that burger soon !

I always love finding a new neighborhood gem, even if it’s not in my particular neighborhood. I can now add County in the Flatiron District to that list. This New American restaurant focuses on local, seasonal and fresh ingredients. The space has a warm and cozy vibe, with an even more warm and friendly staff. Everyone here was genuinely nice, helpful and a pleasure to be around. The tables are communal, but a bit on the more intimate side. So, I opted for the bar, which I usually really enjoy more anyway. I ordered the Slow Roasted Skuna Bay Salmon(Edamame Purée, Roasted Hon Shimeji mushrooms, Radish, Wasabi Greens, Soy Ginger Vinaigrette). I really thought this was a great dish. The salmon was perfectly cooked to my request of medium rare, it was light, tender, and when mixed with the soy ginger vinaigrette, it soaks up a really wonderful flavor. The mushrooms were little morsels of perfection, and the edamame purée was a smooth and creamy component that just really tied the whole dish together.
