East siders rejoice! A pharmacy is still alive on 1st ave. Not a pharmacy counter at a chain drug store that couldn’t care less about you if they tried– a real, friendly, neighborhood pharmacy. Still distraught about my move away from Esco, I walked into Corby with low expectations. I figured it’d be back to people who don’t speak English, who take 3 hours to fill a prescription and then can’t find it/haven’t filled it and you end up waiting a half hour anyway. As a new customer, with a new prescription, I waited about 5 minutes. The store was totally empty but there were at least 4 employees, who were all smiling and friendly. When there was a slight issue with the prescription, the technician actually came out from behind that giant wall and explained the situation, and a minute later I walked out happily. The actual drug store part is very limited, and carries about 40% baby products, 20% overpriced combs, brushes, tweezers, and hair clips, 10% candies for old ladies, and 30% toothpastes and lotions. Prices are slightly above average, as expected. I still have no idea why people take their prescriptions to Walgreens and Duane Reade when places like this exist. Don’t let Corby go out of business, please!
