Have been there 2x for Indian buffet. Cozy, Something like $ 12, $ 13 for lunch. Wonderful — good variety of hearty veg and meat dishes. The usual sauces and always a dessert option.

Worst experience ever ! We had a party of 10 and i was embarrassed to the max. I would not even give 1 star if it was upto me. So here’s how it went, the waitress who took the order was totally rude and probably in her sleep. we ordered coke and she brings us diet coke, 1 mistake forgiven. She then brings us chicken salad and orange and fig salad which was never ordered by us but forcefully added to the order, mind you if we wanted to eat salad we could have gone to olive garden or any american restaurant, at an indian restaurant we only wanted indian food. The food was a disaster as if they used 1 gravy and made 3 different dishes out of it. Ofcourse frozen ! My worst decision to ever come here. When we told the waitress we never ordered the salad she gave us the meanest look and told us she repeated the order to us and ofcourse behaved rudely. We then decided to speak to the manager, and he is ofcourse the king of worst customer service. We conplained about the food and the order and simply how his staff is behaving and said he will be giving us a «VIP» discount, which he didnt eventually give us. Slick. Overall, the restaurant is run by scammers and forcefully wants to feed customers food that was never ordered and dont even know how its cooked. Very disappointed !!

I’d like to start with I’m not a fan of Indian food, but being that a friend of mine insisted. So this place seems really nice & I was sat down immediately(Even though my 2 out of a party of 3 didn’t show yet). There is also a deal $ 10 for $ 20 on a meal. Very delicious.

Came here after a horrible experience at Bhatti grill. Enjoyed a quick simple lunch with friends. This place has the best desserts! My friends really enjoyed all the chicken dishes and the fried potato cakes. Self-service buffet for only 9.95 — pretty good deal around this area if I do say so! We left full and happy — how lunch should be every day

This was the worst Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. The curry tasted like it was from a can and the tandoori consisted of half cooked/half burnt veggies with some mustard on them. The chutney was basically just marmalade. Overall, it seemed like the food was not even made in house, but purchased wholesale and warmed up in the microwave. On top of all that, delivery took over an hour. Maybe, just maybe, the food tastes better when you order it in the actual restaurant, but I’ve had some pretty darn good Indian delivery and I can’t imagine that it would be that different. Really disappointed.

This place is normally decent for delivery and I normally get the vegetable vindaloo or some variation of a vegetable dish and naan or poori. Totally acceptable Indian food. Last night, I decided to venture out with the chicken curry with mango and have been regretting it ever since. I might as well move my work computer to the bathroom and set up shop. I would highly recommend staying away from anything meat or poultry here; the aftermath is simply not worth it. 3 stars because the vegetable dishes are good.

Oh, this could have been so much better. First, we had heard that this«Indian Grill ANDBAR» had a happy hour. Nope. In fact, they actually have no bar — at least not one that’s available to diners. Apparently the bar is only open for private parties. Oh, well. But, yes, our server told us, we could order cocktails. OK … we ordered a vodka gimlet for my companion. Got a blank stare. So … described the very simple drink: vodka and lime juice, shaken and strained, garnished with lime, sometimes sweetened up with Rose’s Lime Syrup, or powdered sugar. Pretty simple. Next we found out that the«full bar» had no bourbon and no rye. Scotch. J&B, something else, and Glenfiddich. Ordered a Glenfiddich … oh, well. A change of pace can’t hurt, right? Our server was utterly game and eager to please. She returned with a very generously poured Glenfiddich, a tumbler about half full of vodka, a second glass with lime syrup about three inches deep, and a bowl of ice. Yup. That’s a gimlet … sort of. Throughout all of this, our charmer was quick, friendly, helpful and accomodating — to the very limited extent made possible by the restaurant. The food saved the evening. The gobi honey garlic was delicious, as were the potato and pea samosas. Konju Pappas was smoky, rich and good; lamb vindaloo — at the diner’s request — was completely spiced, a bowl of complex, flavorful fire. Didn’t go for dessert. If this were a fully functioning restaurant — with a bar, a bartender, etc. — it’d be a great dinner spot. As it is — well — it’s probably better for lunch or catering. And you’ll have to BYO bourbon or rye.

Food was average, but the service was absolutely horrific. Two young girls were our«servers» who couldn’t be bothered. We had to remind them to bring Papadom and it came with no onions. When we requested some we were brought red onion roughly chopped– are you kidding? The food took over an hour and there were no apologies(on an empty Thursday night to boot) It got so bad that we had to ask for our food and were given a «hold» finger point. As we were paying, a gentleman worker offers to bring extra masala sauce for our leftover rice– what the hell? We were paying the bill. Maybe they realized how awful our experience was and tried to make a last ditch effort? STAYAWAY– not worth your money. So disappointing.

I won’t be doing this place 100% justice, as I am not a huge fan of Indian food. However; I was dropping by on my way to an appointment, as I needed a bite. The sweet and polite waiter recommended the cauliflower that could be served quickly and within my timeframe. She also suggested the«Madras Rose» from their cocktail menu. The cauliflower was tasteful and very well prepared and actually I was quite surprised by how good it was. As for the drink, I tried. I really tried, but drinking perfume never was my thing. Besides from that, the restaurant was quite cozy, the staff was nice and the other guests were middle-aged. Good for a relaxed and reasonable prized dinner.

Okay, so I just ate lunch here last week and had a delightful«alone date» with myself. I’m really toying between 4 and 5 stars, but decided to go all the way and bestow Copper Chimney with 4 Unilocalie Unilocal stars. Here’s why… Pros: + Close to my office. + Was attended to immediately when I walked in, this is especially great considering that time is of the essence during work lunch. + Food was warm, delicious and hours after gobbling up 2 full plates, I felt great! + Buffet includes appetizers(na’an, pakora, crunchy large cracker things), entrees(chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, yellow curry chicken) and dessert(custard and bread pudding) + Ambiance is really nice. Simple, but elegant. Cons: + While the chicken tikka masala WAS delicious and the sauce was rich, decadent and mild — some of the chicken chunks themselves were a tad dry. Not all of them, but the majority. + Food could have been warmer and more consistent. + Entrée variety wasn’t there at all — I love chicken, but what if someone wanted beef, lamb or didn’t eat meat? They wouldn’t have much to choose from. _______________________________________________ Overall, I really liked this place and I definitely see myself going back soon!

I’ve been meaning to try this place out so my cousin and I came here for dinner the other night. It has a nice ambiance and décor, but every time I pass it, it’s usually empty(as was the case when we walked in), but that never stirs me away from a restaurant necessarily. For appetizer, we ordered the bhajia which were okay — pretty standard and comes with green chutney and the sweet chutney. For dinner, I got the paneer makhani(medium spicy) and garlic naan. All of their entrees come with rice. The paneer makhani was pretty bland and was not spicy at all. I made a note to tell the waiter to make it medium spicy and maybe I should’ve said spicy, but the spice ratings vary tremendously by restaurant. I was really looking forward to the curry having more flavor to it, but it just didn’t do it for me.

Most delicious Indian food I’ve had in New York! The malai kofta is fantastic and the service is very warm and attentive. I visit new york on occasion from DC and make it a priority to come here at least twice on every trip. Highly recommended. Can’t say enough great things!

I had come here to celebrate my friend’s birthday. The food was fantastic and I love the general atmosphere of the restaurant. I think in Murray Hill area, this is the only restaurant that has a separate party hall. Me and my friends ordered Ginger cocktail and it was just Wow ! The party was superb. Really appreciate the work of the bartender and the pretty looking servers. And I have set my mind to celebrate my marriage anniversary in copper chimney no matter what. Thumps up guys, you are great.

Initially, I sat down at sister restaurant Dhaba, rated #1 on Unilocal, but they were vegetarian only. The waiter walked me around the corner to Copper Chimney and let me tell you — best decision to accept the referral! I got garlic naan and chicken tikka masala and Pinot noir. Delicious! Plus I got the $ 10 for $ 20 voucher from Unilocal while I was waiting for my food. My wine was essentially free! Highly recommend.

I come here often for the lunch buffet. Price is $ 9.95. The menu varies(I’ve been able to try different dishes every time I’ve been), but there’s always one fish dish, two chicken dishes, 4 – 5 vegetarian dishes, and a dessert. I’m quite a fan of the tandoori chicken. The restaurant is clean, cozy but not crowded. Service can be a little slow at times but overall, a great place for an economical lunch.

Went for the lunch buffet on a Monday afternoon. The place was pretty empty, with at most 3 – 4 parties dining at any given time while we were there. They have a buffet table with about 10 or so vegetarian & non-vegetarian items plus a desert. The entrée selection here varies daily, so it’s best to take a look at what they have before you decide to eat here. Service here is mediocre at best and they were slow to refill the buffet table. They do bring a basket of naan for the table to share and were good in bringing seconds, probably to full you up quickly. Probably won’t return any time soon and will be sticking with Bhatti the next time I want an Indian buffet. — Cheap $ 9.95 buffet option, but quality is inconsistent

Came here for dinner on a very quiet Monday evening. It was pretty empty but takeout orders were flooding in so that seemed like a good sign. I ordered the liquid copper cocktail which was delicious and strong for such a small drink. To start we had the samosas which were perfectly crispy in the outside and the potatoes were fluffy and flavorful. Loved the tamarind dipping sauce that is customary with this dish. Our entrees came out shortly after and were both impeccable — chicken tikka masala and the lamb kabob with basmati rice and naan. My husband and I shared both family style and thoroughly enjoyed it. The chunks of chicken in the tikka were substantial and surprisingly moist. The tikka sauce was delicious and just what we were looking for — not too sweet. The lamb kabob was a little dry but delicious nonetheless. Above all — the service was outstanding. Very warm and friendly people who made us feel very welcome. We look forward to going back soon.

I’ve enjoyed both the awesome lunch buffet and a fantastic dinner here at Copper Chimney and both experiences have been awesome. I love NYC restaurants that are at or slightly underground — they just have a nice cozy feel about them. This place is a long skinny restaurant with cloth table cloth covered tables and low lighting. The service was really great and the manager himself came to assist us. We ordered one bottle of wine and although it was terribly overpriced($ 28 for a yellow tail syrah), it paired well with the Indian food. The server forgot our appetizer of vegetable samosas, but the manager was quick to apologize and then they took it off our bill. The tiki masala and chicken korma were excellent. We enjoyed sitting and chatting for upwards of two hours but they made no effort to kick us out, which was lovely. Overall, a great little Indian place I’ll visit again.

I came here with some former co-workers that I used to work with. They recommended to this and I said«WHYNOT?!?». We caught the $ 10 buffet lunch. They had a few varieties but I just thought this place was okay. 1) Chicken Tikka Marsala — Sweet and Creamy! Chicken was a bit dry though. They had about 3 other kinds of chicken dishes and all the sauces tasted almost the same at the end of the day. 2) Saag Paneer with corn — not to my liking. 3) Gulab Jamun — First time having it and it was really interesting. Very sweet though. Staff was attentive and my naan basket and water were constantly refilled.

Nach ein paar Abenden Burger genau die richtige Abwechslung. Sehr authentisches, leckeres indisches Essen und für New York auch bezahlbar(ca. 14 Dollar pro Essen). Der Service ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam.
