I was walking around NY around 1AM looking for a local bar to get a few drinks. After walking a few blocks unsuccessfully I looked up bars in the area online and came across Connolly’s. Their website says they are open until 4AM so I thought it would be perfect. I walk in around 1:30 and see a few people inside the bar but am immediately yelled at from across the room«WE’RECLOSED!!» however, there were still patrons inside the bar drinking. Not sure why their website says 4AM and not sure why the bartender told me they were closed when there were clearly patrons still inside. Maybe they should update their website so people don’t go out of their way to come here thinking they’re open… or get a «CLOSED» sign for the door. I will avoid this place next time it comes up online.

Well placed, near time square but à little expensive. I had a veggie burger, i enjoyed pickles, the veggie steak, red onion but the fries were not good ! It tasted fat instead of potato…

So this place is like a secret hideaway of damn good pub grub. The special lamb burger is insanely good. The gealic burger is similarly mouth wateringly magical. Beer battered fishnchips? Oh yeah. Little known fact, all the sauces you could want(HP, hot english mustard etc) are behind the bar. Oh and Boddingtons on tap. Yay!

Completely average. Definitely come here if you need a place to chill with your bros while drinking some buurs and watching sports, while eating crappy bar food that tries to be a bit fancier by offering sweet potato fries(which, yes, they are fantastic but how can you screw those up. The sandwiches and chicken wings though, don’t expect much).

I want to write a glowing review on the service alone. I really really do! But the Fish & Chips had to be the worst I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m the kind of person who’d eat the hell out of some frozen Gorton’s fish fillets, so that’s saying something. I started off with the«Irish» Onion soup. I always giggle at Irish pubs when they refuse to call it French, but it’s a traditional French Onion Soup through and through. I know it looks a little greasy in the photo, but it was just fine. I don’t even want to get into the Fish & Chips… It makes me sad. I think the batter was corn meal based because of the thick gumminess. It was like lightly fried Play-Doh. Not like I’ve ever fried Play-Doh, but I did eat my fair share of it as a kid. I was determined to not send it back only because the host went through so much to get the crowd after the Scottish Tartan Day Parade sorted out. So I ended up dissecting the breading off, but that kinda made it worse. The fries were a little mealy and not even the malt vinegar, salt & pepper could help them. But the Magners cider was on tap, and the service was super friendly, quick and competent. They were swamped and they were still excellent. So in that regard Connolly’s is doing something right. But you live and die on the food. If you jack up something as basic as Fish & Chips, it makes me hesitant to try again with something that I usually love Irish pub food for… Bangers & Mash and a flaky Chicken Pot Pie. If I find out you’ve got the kitchen up to snuff, I’ll try again after next year’s Tartan Parade even if you’re not one of the sponsored after-parade pubs. Please fix the Fish & Chips. Please.

Good calimari, good chicken wrap. Good selection of Irish beer on tap. Yummy Guinness! Good service. The décor sets you back to late 1800s. A few TVs around.

Good food and decent service. I was impressed with the food quality and portions at Connolly’s. And while my main entrée was good — I actually enjoyed the appetizer menu items more. Service was OK.

Food ok. Service painfully slow and waiter inattentive. Sat downstairs 6 tables away from the door and felt a draft every time it opened and closed. If you’re walking by ok fine, but I’d keep walking.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered a salad for delivery and realized right after they left, they forgot salad dressing(I asked for it on the side). When I called back the lady who answered the phone laughed at me and gave me attitude when I kindly asked if the delivery person could come back and drop off the dressing. When he finally showed up nearly 30 minutes later, he accused me of stealing the«extra» dressing from them and that he swore he already gave it to me. It’s dressing, trust me it’s more work for me to have the delivery man come back. Inexcusable joke of a company. DOYOURSELF A FAVOR, when you see them on Seamless, keep scrolling!

Good food, crap service. Waited 25minutes to get the bill after asking 3 people. They already include a tip that is automatically applied that you have to pay so because they are already getting that they can afford to give crap service. Had to listen to our waitress complain how much she has worked and how tired she was the whole time. Do not go here. You receive better service at a food vendor on the street.

Four stars at a pub means something different than four stars at a fancy french restaurant. It all has to do with expectations. I am not much of a drinker, so for me it is mostly about the food, service and price. The servers always say yes to me at this place. That is a big plus. I frequently ask for substitutions. Even the fancy french restaurants are sometimes not as flexible.

Open late, and staff is amazing! Pauline is probably the most amazing you will ever see in the food industry. Food was great, as pub food should be… but honestly… just try to meet Pauline; she’s an ALLSTAR! The second you ask for something, she makes it appear on your table. I think she’s secretly a Genie/Jeani!!! ;-)

Went here after a few hours at MoMA. Tired & hungry. We had a great time here and their burgers are AMAZING… and so are their Cheesecake and Apple Pie too. Yum. You should definitely try ‘em out!

TL: DR. Servers were not attentive, food was passable and seemed like from a freezer bag, classy Irish pub ambience. The servers were very slow and inattentive. My husband had to get up and find a server to get a refill on his drink. He ordered a burger and was not happy with it at all. The bread was quite soggy from the burger and he said the meat wasn’t anything special. The fries were ok. I had the fish and chips. It was like a wall of fish on my plate which was hot, but seemed to be from a freezer bag and not hand-breaded. The food all came out VERY fast(we are seriously talking 8 minutes) which made us weary especially since I ordered fish. We got the food about 2 minutes after we got out drinks. Very strange experience and we won’t be back.
