It’s a good little café but slightly over-priced. I had white chocolate which was way too sweet I felt overwhelmed by the sugar even though I have a big sweet tooth. Not sure about other menus but definitely I wouldn’t recommend the white chocolate.

Location: Clinton street is very unique. It ‘s unique because it could be one of the dense street for great food experience. Cocoa bar is 50 steps further from world famous clinton baking pancake restaurant. The place is relatively medium size, with about 10 tables and a bar table for people to enjoy cocoa and chocolate. The mood here is very chilly, with both jazz and latino musics. Food: I had ice hot chocolate, which has been recommended by a lot of Unilocalers. I ordered it and felt a little bit disappointed. It is just hot chocolate + ice. I expected a little bit more chilly vibe chocolate with some new innovations in it. One thing to be noticed is that they do use a higher quality of cocoa, making the ice hot chocolate more tasteful and the flavor lasts longer. The menu is composed of chocolate, chocolate latte, chocolate coffee etc. They also have coca tasting choices. Service: I have been to many this kind of place –a combo of wine, dessert, and coffee store. Most are nice. I love the Sweet Revenge people which is at west village. But this one is just very much not friendly. Overal: 3 star.

Decided we were in the area and to stop in for a hot minute. I had a hot chocolate with a shot of expresso and the kids had the crepes. Nice cool chill spot with some tasty crepes.

Very confused why a few folks are leaving 2 – 3 stars. If your skin is that thin that the slightest deviation of ideal tone from your expectations warrants 2 stars, then I don’t know what makes you happy… ANYWAY. Friends and I stopped by this amazing location after dinner at nearby Ivan Ramen and were blown away by the drinks we got. We ordered the chocolatte, spicy hot cocoa, and spicy chocolate martini. All three were so amazing that we ordered a second round. Barista was very friendly and a guitarist even came in after 8PM and provided some wonderful background acoustics. GREAT location to take a date after dinner or to spend a rainy evening. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Cocoa Bar has a nice ambience, I think it would be great to come with a group of friends who really like chocolate and perhaps get hot chocolate. If you are looking to instead spend an afternoon getting some work done I would suggest to go somewhere else. I had the Banana Nut Latte. Its a good latte but quite expensive for the very little amount you get. Tasted like a regular latte – I did not find any Banana Nut flavor in it. Service was okay, not super friendly or unfriendly. They’ll bring the coffee to your table which is nice.

Entering this beautiful place felt like I was entering my ultimate date spot. The dim lighting, candles, lovely scent and amazing drinks makes this a favorite of mine. I ordered the Mint Mochalatte with one of their homemade marshmallows on top and when it was brought over, the waitress torched my marshmallow! The owner is so nice and welcoming and even gave the beautiful couple next to me chocolates to pair with the wine that they were drinking. These small touches are true hospitality. This has become one of my favorite places and will come again!

I lustify for chocolate. Plain and simple. I can’t run from it. And I certainly, can’t hide from it. As much as I stay away from chocolate, the scent, taste and richness, always pull me in. I just finished with dinner nearby, and deliberately, didn’t have any dessert because I wanted to savor some of Cocoa Bar’s goodness. My review, is just based on «grab and go», and really, can’t go in depth too much about the vibe. However, the short time I was there, I got a really, really low key«Cocoa Bar» and not much else. Perhaps my expectations were over the roof, once again, but I really thought that Cocoa Bar would be packed to capacity with all things chocolate. Granted, truffle selection was nice but not in abundance and the small number of pastries, seemed a little middle-of-the-road for me. With all that said, I went for a box of 12: I picked a few Passion Fruit, Raspberry and Yuzu Caramel and a few other flavors. Additionally, I eyed a Chocolate Mousse Cake that just screamed, «take me, Mercedes” — and I happily did. The minute I got home, I didn’t even take off my heels. I cracked that box open, like a freaking fiend and tried one of the Passion Fruit which, literally melted in my mouth. Then, I had the Chocolate Mouse which was soft and cocoaey. But, nothing to make me scream. So, I ended my night with one of the chocolate places to go to from my Bookmark List. All I need to do now, is to get lost all over again and continue my chocolate journey.

Very cute place but it is extremely quiet. It is full of people on their laptops, so if your trying to catch up with someone, you have to whisper. The chocolate ganache was amazing, but the cocktails doesn’t taste as good as it looks. The chocolatini tasted like watery chocolate, and the hot chocolate cocktail was all liqueur and no chocolate flavor. I was extremely disappointed with the drinks, while my partner and I only took a sip of each and paid nearly $ 30 for both together. The drinks are presentable if you want a nice Instagram picture, otherwise the desserts are the way to go.

It’s a quiet place to have a cup of coco, tea or coffee and read or just hangout with friends. Bunch of us just grabbed cups of hot chocolate«funny monkey», coffee and shared brownie. It was great place just to relax and catch up. I will definitely go back!

Service: 5.5! Ambience: 5 Hot chocolate: 3.5. My friend and I ordered the same thing, but hers was less chalky and sweeter than mine. Given that I dropped by on a very cold night, I was still delighted to be welcomed warmly by the gentleman behind the counter and given table service at an adorable café. I’ll definitely drop by if I’m in the area again. Perfect date spot!

Did I really just pay $ 7 for a 16oz «choco-latte»(espresso, hot chocolate, latte — basically café mocha)… Yes I did. Was it worth it? Nah. Will I be back? Nah. On another note, I loved the animal head artwork. Very Tim Burton-esque.

I went out to dinner in the area, but my restaurant didn’t have dessert. After a quick Unilocal search, Cocoa Bar came up and it was literally steps away from where I was, so off I went. It’s certainly a nice and cozy spot with a wine bar vibe, and I thought with such an upscale feel, the desserts would reflect that. I was wrong. I got a brownie and it was mediocre at best. It tasted like it sat out all day and was starting to become stale. Waste of money, waste of calories. Upon check-in you can get a free coffee or tea so naturally I was all about the freebies. I ordered a tea and the one person working that evening seemed to have a bit of an attitude about that. My friend had the funky monkey hot chocolate(it had banana in it) and she loved it so I guess I just ordered poorly. They have a good selection of handmade chocolates, cookies, and other sweet treats that looked really good, but I wouldn’t recommend the brownie. Anyway, Cocoa Bar is a cute spot but you need to know what to order. Don’t mess up like I did. Get the hot chocolate, get the gourmet chocolates, have some wine, and enjoy!

This shop has the cutest décor but the barista was so unfriendly it was an instant turnoff. I asked him what their best iced drink was and he said«iced chocolatte» *ugh* as he rolled his eyes at me. Didn’t even explain to me what it was. Way to be a salesman buddy. He looked like he hated his job and every single customer. He also forgot that I paid 3 minutes after I paid and gave him an undeserving tip… it wasn’t even busy, there was no one else there besides my friend. The drink was also awful and I didn’t finish it as the chocolate was clumpy and the chunks were floating around in my drink. No good drinks and no good service=bad coffee shop. The good thing is they have free wifi but it’s still a lose lose situation. Never coming back here again. There are so many incredible coffee shops in the city and there’s a reason why this shop was empty.

First off, the barista was super creepy and made us very uncomfortable with his staring and glaring. Like can you pretend to not hate all of humanity for the five seconds I interact with you? I ordered the cinnamon hot cocoa. It was okay(not good or great) but there was absolutely no cinnamon in it. it just tasted like melted chocolate. not that impressed. and it was hella expensive($ 5.44) for about 15 sips of melted chocolate. My friends iced mocha was weirdly chunky. ew. Would definitely not come back. Far better coffee, cocoa, and SERVICE in the city.

You know I wanted to like this place, the décor is cool the coffee is okay they have wine and chocolate When the shifts changed the new bartender asked if I wanted anything else and presumed I had not made a purchase because my friends and I had our used ceramics taken earlier. When I had asked for another glass of water a snide remark was returned to me suggesting I was only using the WiFi and not actually purchasing anything at this café. Suffices to say I did not receive the second glass of water either so that left a bad taste in my mouth. Thanks for ruining my day. I should clarify he did not ask anyone else nor question anyone else at the establishment.

Dropped by with a girlfriend after dinner in the area and we ended up spending two hours here because of the atmosphere. Dimly lit, opens late into the night, great service by a cute elderly couple who doesn’t rush their customers whatsoever. Highly recommend the French Hot Chocolate which is basically hot chocolate with a dessert wine as base. Soooo tasty. The taste of alcohol is notable in the first sip or two, but it quickly gives into the rich cocoa taste. Not to mention the rim of the mug is «salted» with chocolate sprinkles. MMMmmmmM. The desserts were tasty but came in small portions. We got a brownie a la mode and the brownie was the size of my palm(and I have small hands, fyi). The chocolates offered on display, or bonbons, are petite pieces. So considering the portion, things are a bit on the pricey side. I loved the attitude of the owner though. Showed him the Unilocal check-in offer for a free coffee or tea and even though they said they only had coffee, he made tea for my friend regardless. AND a refill(with hot water, obviously, but still). He was just really nice about it. I was confused about how to leave tip since he just showed us the bill on a tablet and when I asked him about it, he basically shrugged his shoulders. There’s not even a suggested tipping amount; you tip however much want, whichever way you feel like. It’s just a really laid-back, chill place whose owner simply wants you to have a good time there. Great spot for romantic dates or intimate conversations that may run longer than expected.

Nice, chill ambience. Had the iced hot chocolate, which was a really weird beverage(in a cool way). It was warm in some sips and cold in others. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. A bit sweet for me, but very yummy.

I stopped in here after lunch to have a drink with a friend. The bartender didn’t greet us, though we sat at the bar, and she gave us this uncomfortable looks that had me wondering how long she’s been in the service industry. I chalked it up to «it’s not personal» and ordered some wine. The red I ordered was served in a dirty glass. I asked for a clean one. She gave me one. My friend and I then moved from the bar to one of the tables and enjoyed each other’s company. I won’t come back here. As we were leaving, an older man had come in and was behind the bar. He acknowledged us on our way out and seemed personable. If he only knew! I like the idea of this place, but nah. There are too many options in New York for this nonsense!

2 drinks and 2 croissants: $ 17. A little pricey, but an excellent hot chocolate. On a rainy Tuesday, we tried this LES Coffee shop for a light breakfast. There’s free wifi, and laptops are permitted until 7pm. The spicy hot chocolate 10oz was $ 6, and the 12oz Spicy Chocolatte(hot cocoa + espresso) was $ 6.50. The drinks were high quality, using delicious and real chocolate with steamed milk. It wasn’t too sweet, and had just a hint of spice. As a hot chocolate fanatic, I was hoping for more spice, and a better presentation. This was my first hot chocolate ever(except from a convenience store) that did not come with whipped cream. Maybe a purist would denounce this request, but I really love a dollop of whipped fluffy goodness atop my spicy chocolate concoction.

The waiter /bartender /cashier was a sweetheart and explained the menu well and accurately. I had the chile hot chocolate which he said was not too sweet and not too spicy. Once I drank it, I immediately agreed with his description. It was a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The were people just hanging out, working, on dates or catching up with people. You aren’t rushed at all which makes this a great go to spot.
