I don’t even like blueberries! But wow! Some of the best pancakes I ever had. The rancheros with chorizo was outstanding as well. The Bloody Mary wasn’t good, lacked flavor. But if you’re coming here for brunch, the food is outstanding. I would go with something sweet then savory. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The food is excellent but there is a big BUT. These folks don’t take reservations which is charming and folksy, but they way they mismanage things, its a problem. They have a charming app called Nowait that they use to help get your name on the list. When your table is ready they send a text telling you that, and then the fun starts. We were waiting outside, having walked around the neighborhood for an hour when the text arrived. We went in and were told that the people were just paying. 15 minutes later they were still paying. Another 15 minutes and they said that while the people were still paying(apparently a terrible case of alligator arms), there was a table waiting for us next door in the bakery. Great news because its the same kitchen. Well I guess next door never got the telegram because when we walked in, guess what? The people at our alleged table were still paying! 15 minutes later they were still paying. No, this was not a credit card problem because they only take cash. Eventually a table emptied and we were seated about an hour after we got our welcome text. If we had not been incessantly lied to, leading to me hovering over the hostess I think we may still be there. Why not just say its a 2 hour wait. That’s fine and can be managed, but to be kept on the brink for an hour with no apology after an expected hour wait is absurd and doesn’t put one in a festive grateful mood. With the rant behind me the food was mostly very good. The chicken that comes with the waffles is very dry because it is sliced thin, so expect potato chip chicken. The regular breakfast stuff like eggs and omelettes was good and the chicken sausage was great. The crawfish special was excellent. The timing for bringing stuff out of the kitchen is off so expect some folks to be done eating before all of the dishes have been served. Bottom line is that if you get there when there is no line(good luck with that) then you may get some good food. If not I am not sure it is worth the frustration.

Even on a Friday afternoon around 3pm this place was still packed out! Bright and hip, Clinton Street Baking Company is a great spot for breakfast food no matter the time of day. After a table freed up, we were seated and introduced to their menu. I selected the crispy potato pancakes substituting the sour cream for a double serving of caramelized applesauce. The applesauce tasted homemade and made the perfect topping when spread over the crispy potato cakes. The cakes themselves were crunchy and salty. My only complaint would be they were slightly overdone to the point of being hard, but tasty nonetheless. My mimosa was quite small for $ 10 but was also very good. I’d come back during normal breakfast hours to try more off their menu.

This place is a dream for anyone who loves two things: 1) waiting for two hours, and 2) delicious pancakes. The rumors are true — if you try to get a table here anytime between 10:00am and 3:00pm on the weekends, you’re going to be sitting on the sidewalk for well over an hour. That being said, the wait is so long, you can go put your name in, take a stroll across the Williamsburg bridge, grab a cup of coffee somewhere, etc., and then come back. Once you get a table, all of your hangry, hungover dreams will come true. Delicious, enormous pancakes with tons of different toppings, and you will leave super satisfied and likely with an extremely heavy to-go box with pancakes to last you for another 16 days. good tasting pancakes, just our food came out so late. They are not very attentive with coffee refills($ 3) that you might as well get a special coffee for a $ 1 more, better tasting served in a bigger mug. Came here on a weekday, around 10, got seated in less than 5 minutes

Clinton Street Baking Company had long remained at the top of my New York food adventures list. But for some reason, I hadn’t been able to make it there until recently. It was a dreary May morning, but I knew that their renowned pancakes would likely boost my mood. As several others have mentioned, the earlier you get to Clinton Street, the better your chances of avoiding a long wait. However, even if you’re seated right away, be forewarned that the service here is suuuper slow. Ten minutes after we were settled, the waiter finally approached. He hurriedly took our order, and then immediately ran off to tend to another table nearby. This disappearing act continued for the duration of our meal, and grabbing his attention almost felt like a game at certain points. Maybe they were short-staffed that morning? I’m not sure, but either way, the place was way too busy for a handful of people to manage all of their customers. Now for the important part. Before I walked through the door, I had already decided on the wild Maine blueberry pancakes with warm maple butter. Of course, the bottomless hot coffee was a necessary supplement to the meal. Despite ordering as soon as our waiter arrived at our table, it took fifty minutes to receive the pancakes. But in the end, I’m happy to report that they were well worth the wait! The short stack was pretty solid in portion size, and was much more filling than it looked. The pancakes were still light and fluffy though, and they definitely didn’t skimp on the blueberries. In fact, not only were there plenty of berries inside, there was a substantial dollop of blueberry compote on top. The warm maple butter, while delicious in its own right, was a welcomed alternative to traditional maple syrup. Ultimately, however, it wasn’t essential to my overall enjoyment of the dish; the pancakes and blueberry compote were sweet and flavorful enough on their own that I didn’t find myself using a ton of the butter. Fundamentally, the food at Clinton Street Baking Company is an undisputed five. Had the service been a little more attentive and efficient, there’s no question that this review would be a strong and resounding five stars all around. Hopefully my followup experience will easily warrant an enthusiastic revision!

I’ve been reading other Unilocalers reviews about the long wait. A helpful tip maybe to come at night! I know everyone comes for the pancakes, and you normally eat them in the morning but eating here at night may help subside that. We got here at 8 pm on a Wednesday and there was no wait. We split an order of the pancakes which were good! It was $ 15 for 3 fluffy pancakes which had maine blueberries and maple butter syrup. Honestly the maple butter syrup tasted like watered down caramel lol. Since I love caramel I have no complaints! So eat some breakfast food for dinner, too save yourself the crazy wait!

Used the nowait app and didn’t have to wait 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon for these delicious pancakes. I ordered the banana walnut while my friend got the famous blueberry pancakes. Each order came with three pancakes and were fresh and delicious. The hot syrup on the side was also a great complement. We definitely could’ve shared as we both only got halfway through our plates and felt really bad since we were heading somewhere and couldn’t take them to go. *If you live within a mile range of the restaurant, get the nowait app to «reserve your spot». Otherwise I’m not sure how much more useful the app is compared to going there, putting your name down, and then walking around the area.

Yikes! This place always seems to be packed. There is a line even during the weekdays. I came here on a Thursday at around 10am and the wait was about 30 – 45 minutes. Fortunately, you do not need to stand in line, just give the hostess your name and phone number and they will text you when your table is ready. So definitely plan ahead or take it easy at their café next door, which has ample amounts of seating. This place is known for their pancakes. I found their pancakes to be fluffiest. The Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was delicious and their hollandaise sauce was the best! The portion sizes are large and they give free refills on the coffee and waitstaff are attentive. Cash only.

Had high hopes for Clinton after reading the number of positive reviews. It was busy but they text to let you know when your table was ready so that was awesome! Food was only average. Had the Eggs Benedict, thought the hollandaise was good and eggs were cooked well and came on biscuits. Standard overall and doesn’t come with any sides. Also ordered the Crisp Potato Latkes(overfried), came with whipped sour cream(little flavor) and caramelized applesauce. Wouldn’t order again. We sat beside a table that ordered the pancakes and those looked delicious. Wish we tried those. Service could be improved as well. Server was short in communication and not very friendly. Hostess was very nice and chippy however! Likely won’t be returning to this restaurant. Maybe a one off experience!

Another brunch hype that’s totally worth the wait. The wait was 50 minutes on a Sunday morning. The pancakes are absolutely divine. Almost to die for. It’s light and fluffy. The blueberries on top with drizzles of melted maple butter… What perfection. The Spanish scramble is also another must try. The only change I would make is to make the chorizo spicy. All in all this place is a must try if you’re in the LES. Oh and this place is CASHONLY.

** CASHONLY ** It’s really not stated anywhere obvious, so here is my warning to you! They let you know that there’s an ATM outside, but no one is trying to pay that fee, so bring cash if you decide to come!!! Wait for 5 on a Thursday morning was about 45 minutes — they put down your number and text you when the table is ready. The restaurant was pretty packed, so the 5 of us had to share a table for 4 — it was a little cramped, but nothing we could do. Among the 5 of us, we ordered the eggs benedict w/ham, the granola, the biscuit sandwich, the Spanish scramble, and the blueberry pancakes. I only tried the Spanish scramble and the pancakes, so I can’t say much for the other dishes. Spanish scramble: I got it without tomatoes, and asked for a side of the tomatillo salsa they were offering with another dish. The scramble was average, nothing really stood out to me. The only thing I really remember is that tomatillo salsa, it was delicious. The hash browns weren’t really hash browns, it was like they took the inside of a baked potato, grated it and then pan fried it on the outside. Blueberry pancakes: Yet again, they were okay. The best part of that dish was the warm maple butter that came with the pancakes. I wish that butter came with everything — it was absolutely divine. It saved the dish from just being mediocre. My family also said that everything they had was average — nothing blew them out of the water. The service here, except for the refilling of the water and coffee, is extremely slow — not only does the food come out extremely slowly, but trying to get the check was also a nightmare. Overall, it’s an overrated breakfast place — definitely not worth the wait. If I could get that butter in a gallon though, i would.

Came here for the pancakes mainly, but split a few different plates among friends. Putting this out there first and foremost: The pancakes are infinitely overrated. If these are your idea of good pancakes, you have not had many pancakes. They are perfectly serviceable pancakes, but they are absolutely middle-of-the-line, forgettable pancakes. The only good thing about them was the maple butter syrup that came with them. It’s yummy, creamy, and wonderfully sweet, but definitely not worth freaking out about. Honestly the pancakes and the syrup, when bundled together, are slightly above an IHOP stack. The granola breakfast was fine. Yogurt was fine. Granola was fine. Fruit was fresh. Not much to add to that. As for the other plates, I can’t remember a thing about them. I honestly have no idea how this place got any sort of reputation besides being an okay place to go if all of the other good places were full.

5 stars for their pancakes because they are ah-mazing. They come out fluffy, thick, and filled with toppings — whether it’s blueberries, bananas and walnuts, or chocolate. My favorite is blueberries because they come in a little compote so it’s juicy and the chocolate because it comes in big chunks that, when cut into, melt right into and in between the pancakes. We’ve gotten the chorizo benedict(I believe it was a special) and the potato pancakes as well but those were pretty underwhelming(hence the four star review). They also recently started using the«No Wait» app so that you can add your name to the wait if you are about a mile away from the restaurant. Really helpful and saves a lot of time!

I got the Clinton street baking company’s cookbook a while back and was super excited to try out the restaurant. The cookbook is amazing and I was hooked on their French toast recipe! It’s the BESTEVER!!! But… I thought the French toast at the actual restaurant wasn’t as good as the cookbook? Not sure how that happened! Still good but it wasn’t as moist as when I make it at home. The maple butter is sooo good. We also tried the eggs scramble and substituted the toast for the biscuit. The biscuit is awesomeee and their orange juice is fresh squeezed! Not a fan of the«hashbrowns» though since there was no flavor. If you’re in the general area you can use the no wait app to put yourself on the waitlist. We had about a 40 min wait for 2 on a Friday. I’ll be back to try the pancakes!

Both times I came here were on a weekday during an off hour(around 2PM). Once was with 2 others, so we only had to wait 15 minutes, and the other was in a group of 8, so we waited around 30 minutes. I can’t imagine what it would be like during peak times on a weekend… and I don’t ever intend on finding out. Pros: — The pancakes are incomparable. Not only are they soft and fluffy alone, the maple butter really elevates the flavor. At the risk of sounding savage, I could probably drink a cup of it. Definitely the highlight of my meal both times. While the other dishes were solid, I wouldn’t wait more than 15 – 20 minutes for them. Cons: — CASHONLY. — Long wait, mediocre service. Go on a weekday in a smaller group and try the pancakes with maple butter!

Reservation not needed on a weekday brunch, guess we got lucky. Eggs benedict — sub salmon Biscuits were a bit too heavy for my liking. I think it would’ve been better toasted with some honey butter or jam but the toppings and hollandaise sauce made it soggy. Blueberry pancake Spanish scramble Cheese grits Overall it was a good brunch but not necessary worth the long weekend waits(from what I’ve heard).

Clinton Street Baking Company attracts locals and tourists alike(mostly the latter, I’d say), and the tourists come from all over the world. They are, indeed, world-famous for their pancakes. They recently expanded so the wait isn’t as bad, but still expect to wait at least 30 minutes unless you get there super early in the morning right when they open. The nice thing about the wait here is that you can just put your name down and they will text you when your table is ready, so you don’t have to just aimlessly wait outside the restaurant until the seats free up. My friend and I each got a breakfast entrée and shared the famous Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter. The fluffy, sweet pancakes are topped with your choice of wild Maine blueberry, banana walnut, or chocolate chunks. Were they delicious? Yes. Were they worth the hype? Not sure. Again, I thought these pancakes were yummy, but I’ve definitely had better ones… aka the lemon ricotta pancakes from Foragers Table. Then again, I really like doughy, moist pancakes so I guess it all depends on your personal preference. I had the Country Breakfast($ 15) for my entrée. The plate had three eggs any style(I got poached eggs), Heritage maple cured ham, hash browns, and buttermilk biscuit. This was a pretty ordinary, traditional Southern breakfast. The ham was a bit on the dry end, as was the biscuit. The hash browns tasted fine, and the eggs were poached well. Considering the wait, I think I’d rather go somewhere else for breakfast/brunch.

CASHONLY — that’s the most important information I can give you in my review. So you don’t get caught having to run across the street and pay an ATM fee to get cash. The food was kind of disappointing after reading all the hype! Glad I came with a friend on a Friday during the day when the wait was only 20 minutes. The place was a lot more spacious than I thought it would be and very cheery and bright on the inside. Service was ok. I did order the famous blueberry pancakes and my friend ordered the French toast. My pancakes were rather dry. I mean really, really dry and not enough blueberry sauce to help it go down. The pancakes were not all that tasty, they needed a stick of butter or something. My friend’s French toast was too sweet. I’ve had better pancakes and better brunch elsewhere. Don’t waste your time and don’t wait in line here, it’s not worth it, you’ll be sadly disappointed like I was.

I have been waiting for about 8 years to try Clinton Street Baking Company, and today was the day. Though today was my first visit, I believe a lot has changed over the years. First, this year they opened a brand new expansion of the restaurant — doubling if not tripling their capacity. Second, they introduced an app called NoWait — so you know exactly how many parties are in front of you. I imagine that both of these additions have made CSBC goers much more happier when they sit down to enjoy their fluffy pancakes. That said we put in a reservation around 9:45am on a Saturday, and were seated around 10:45am. Not bad. We had asked to sit in the ‘old’ location if there was a seat available, and they were able to accommodate — a lovely seat by the window. While I kept telling myself to order the pancakes — I ordered the Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich, and I was not disappointed. It was amazing. A delicious biscuit that wasn’t dry, scrumptious cheddar cheese and a delicious homemade tomato jam — of course with well prepared eggs, delicious. Overall the service was a bit on the slower side — I was very surprised that the food didn’t come very fast or that it took a long time to clear our plates given the 1.5 hour average wait. However, this was OK as I was very much enjoying my time at CSBC — I mean I did wait 8 years for this. A few things didn’t go so great — which Is why I took off a star. BUT, the staff went above and beyond with trying to correct these errors. First, the hash browns accompanying my meal were stone cold, but they quickly replaced with HOT ones. Second, my boyfriend was given the incorrect meal — but they very quickly replaced with the correct meal. Third, the coffee wasn’t great, but that’s just my personal opinion I thought I would throw in there. The waitresses were so nice, and informed us that they took my boyfriend’s meal off the check when they gave it to us at the end — very classy, and something you really don’t see in NYC anymore. Cue applause. In summary, the food was absolutely delicious, the staff was extremely friendly, and I could not have been happier to cross this place off of my NYC dining bucket list. Do come, it’s worth the wait, and the NoWait app will make your time that much more enjoyable! I’ll be ordering the pancakes for dinner in the near future for sure…

even with the no wait app, it was about a 2 hour wait. 1.30 hour wait to get seated and it took about 30 minutes to get the food. Granted I did come on a Sunday morning however, I can say I’ve came and conquered and don’t need to come back. My friend and I ordered and shared: Eggs Benedict Blueberry pancakes with maple butter The food was really good and the portions were just right. But service is a little slow, even though staff is super friendly – I don’t think they’re very efficient.

If you are planning on coming to this place for a weekend brunch, plan ahead! My boyfriend and I came here about 20 minutes before they opened, so we were able to get seats right away.(The first time we tried coming here, it was a three hour wait — excuse me?) ALSO — they are cash-only for the daytime! There’s an ATM across the street, but that does have a $ 2 fee. Of course we got the pancakes. I don’t know how you could come here and not get the pancakes. They are exactly what pancakes should be — fluffy, tall and sweet. The chocolate ones end up being very sweet, especially with the maple butter syrup on top of it. We also had the country breakfast — eggs, ham, a biscuit and a hash. This dish wasn’t as amazing. In my opinion, it definitely needed more seasoning. It was perfectly okay. To round out everything, we also had the double smoked bacon(super crispy and a decent serving size for a side) and a hot chocolate. Their hot chocolate was actually pretty good, and I loved the whipped cream! Service-wise, they were great. Our server made sure that we got our orders in before the rush, and she checked up on us a couple times. Our waters and my boyfriend’s unlimited coffee were never empty!
