From our cake tasting to our actual wedding day Deborah has gone above & beyond to ensure our happiness & needs were being met(cakewise that is lol). At the tasting omg the flavors were #scrumptious(being pregnant and still feeling that way was a plus because everything made me nauseous). Yes it was costly but to me you pay for what you get! When she sent me the 1st sketch I sent her back my concerns. She tweaked it and what she sent back is what translated to the cake we saw on our wedding day! For the people who had concerns did you guys talk to her?!? She is so easygoing and approachable plus you HAVE to approve the cake so I don’t understand those comments. But moving right along… on our wedding day Deborah herself delivered our cake(our wedding was the day AFTERCHRISTMAS) and that meant alot to us! It was set-up beautifully and she saved me a HEAP of money by showing me how I can decorate the cake table without buying anything… phew I needed that… Deborah also made side cakes & extra layers(free of charge) because we loved so many flavors and hubby wanted a massive cake. She also made a seperate flavor of anniversary cake just for my spoiled husband lol. Everyone loved our cake and commented on how beautiful it was. Deborah and City Sweets was a wonderful experience and if I was to renew my vows again she will definitely have our buisness. Thank you so much and may God bless you!!!

Deborah was so easy to work with; from our very first correspondence through our wedding. We had a very specific idea of how our cake should look and taste. Deborah executed both with overwhelming perfection! Deborah is a true artist. We would recommend her again and again and again to anyone and everyone looking for a first-rate experience.

Deborah made beautiful and delicious cupcakes for my event and I could not have been happier. The cupcakes were delicious! The flavors were to die for and the frosting choices were abundant. Every cupcake was a work of art. Deborah is not only talented, skillful and experienced pastry chef, she is a great artist, too. I would definitely hire Deborah again and recommend her to all my friends.

There appears to be two different review sites for this vendor. We had our wedding a few years ago. My experience with Deborah was somewhat surreal. It was almost like dealing with two different people. The tasting went well, the flavors were delicious but once we committed to ordering the cake for our wedding, Deborah seemed to lose interest. It was hard to reach her. The worst part was after she delivered the cake to our venue, it was poorly decorated, with frosting smeared off so that the cake showed through and the cake was somewhat dry, lots left over. Pretty disappointing. I think Deborah has potential, based on Website, but unfortunately we didn’t experience it.

I ordered my wedding cake from city sweets. In all honesty, I can’t review the taste, as I was far too busy during the wedding to actually eat any cake! But what I do want to review is the quality of the service and the look of the cake. First, the cake was very pretty — four tiers with purple flowers. But it wasn’t anything special, and I could have easily found a cheaper bakery to provide the same cake. Unfortunately, when I paid for the cake and went to my tasting, the baker, Deborah, promised an «art deco» style cake. .. and after paying the deposit and waiting over two months for her designs, was told that she couldn’t actually deliver on her promise of an art deco design. The designs she did send me(a) weren’t at all art deco; and(b) were really unattractive. We were coming up on the wedding at that point and I simply didn’t have the brain power or time to find another baker(especially since I live in another country and scheduled my tasting based on when I would be in NYC.) So, I just went to her website and chose a cake design for her to replicate. Second, I found out the day after the wedding that Deborah was quite late in her delivery of the cake, and the wedding coordinator had to call her to rush her to the venue. .. apparently Deborah was stuck in traffic. But, it’s NY. There is traffic. You leave early — end of story. I’m just glad I was unaware of the situation because it would have been very stressful. I honestly have never left a bad review on Unilocal, but I have to be honest. I would not hire Deborah for any event again. I think she is incredibly talented, but I don’t find that she runs her business very professionally and she needs to work on keeping her time commitments and design promises.
