City Harvest is a fantastic organization that I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering for. Though it’s only been a couple of months, I love working with them. They are extremely organized and friendly. There are so many options of different things to do with them, and you can volunteer when you’re available — they don’t require a minimum number of hours like some organizations do. If you work up enough hours, they allow those volunteers at their high profile events!

As I sit down to donate a fair amount to the only New York City food charity I support, I agree that the quantity of mail sent to me is all the more than annoying because it comes in addition to my frequent written requests to remove me from their mailing list. Others, like the doe fund, have honored the request and I continue to support them every year. Is there a secret to getting off these lists?

City Harvest spends $ 1000 every year sending me junk mail. Typically, I use the included envelope to tell them to take me off their mailing list. They decide to save money by having me use my own stamp. So, I continue to get expensive junk mail. It ticks me off. Money they could use in some other way – i.e. feeding the needy!
