So sad to come back to NYLS and realize this place is closed. Mightve wept a bit when I saw the sign. Okay, fine, I wept. I’ll miss your truffle Mac and cheese, your sangria specials, your juicy burgers, and your perfect dark&stormys. Your beautiful bathrooms, your sumptuous and elegant bar area, your accommodating staff and your kind and knowledgeable servers… ugh this is worse than my last break up. Please come back

I have to agree with some of the other posts, the manager here is unprofessional and rude. The food here is great but it means absolutely nothing if a manager can’t actually manage. My credit card was charged an extra amount, as expected I was frustrated and upset. Instead of just assuring he would look into it, he had a vagrant attitude which apparently is shown both through a phone call and in person. Instead of just handling the situation, he stated all I was doing was accusing. Accusing represents it’s my word against his, a bank statement representing the restaurants legal name(Rasiante LLC New York US) and two different transactions is not an accusation it’s proof. After stating this, he refused to look any further into the situation forcing me to hang up. The«accusation» is now being handled through the bank only and the situation will be further addressed with the BBB.

Food was excellent, service was outstanding. The house wine was a really nice surprise. Came with large table. The staff was incredibly nice about all of our last minute changes. Everyone found a dish they had to try. Filet and Salmon tartare apps were outstanding. Lots of expertly prepared fish and meat dishes. Duck fat mashed potatoes!

The experience was a disaster from start to finish. We arrived for a luncheon meeting with a colleague and checked in with the hostess. She said she could not find our reservation. Five minutes later, another hostess comes up, still cannot find the reservation, but offers to make one for us on the spot. It was about 2PM and the restaurant was ¾ empty, but if you need a reservation, ok. She then proceeds to say the main dining room closes at 2PM so we have to eat in an alcove portion of the restaurant. So we sat down, ordered drinks and requested some bread while waiting for our colleague. It took about 10 minutes and 3 requests for the bread to arrive. We tried to connect with our colleague and could not get a cell signal or wifi. We decide to order. We had burgers, which were actually terrific.15 minutes later we discover that our colleague had been seated(with a table reservation) in the main dining room the entire time and had been waiting for us! At the end of the meal we requested several times to see the manager. We explained the situation to him. We suggested that he pick up the tab. He said no and said these things happen and in the scheme of life it wasn’t important. His pompousness and attitude were offensive and unprofessional. We have dined at the restaurant before but will not return.

Quite disappointed. I Ordered the Cesar Salad and it came out room temperature. It should be at least chilled. For my main course, I ordered the Argentinian Steak. I asked for it to be cooked medium, it came out rare/blue. I sent it back and it still came back rare! It was also extremely tough! The sides, however, were very good. Smashed potatoes and grilled escarole. I doubt that i’ll be going back, as City Hall was quite pricey for a very mediocre meal!

We had our 100-person wedding at City Hall Restaurant in October 2015, and I cannot say enough good things about the venue, staff, and overall experience! We came to City Hall Restaurant in a panic after our previous restaurant venue suddenly closed 40 days before our wedding. CHR’s event manager, Kerrin, immediately put us at ease with her expertise, organized, yet easy-going attitude. We were able to re-plan our wedding in a matter of days with everything just as we wanted it. Kerrin and the chef/owner Henry were so accommodating and helpful throughout the process. They were both there on our wedding night along with a wonderful staff to make sure everything went smoothly. The granite room downstairs is such a beautiful, unique space for a ceremony. Then we took over the main floor(lounge and dining room) for dinner and dancing, which has a classic, old-school New York feel. Our guests have complemented the wedding so many times saying how unique the venue was, and how outstanding the food was. I would do it all again in a heartbeat– but just choosing CHR right off the bat! :-) Thanks to everyone at CHR who made our night truly magical.

Another year, another end of summer lunch at City Hall. My wife, son and I look forward to it every year. We arrived ten minutes before our noon reservation and were asked to sit near the door while the staff meeting was in progress in the bar area. Ultimately shown to a nice table and got down to business reviewing the menu. Light Fry combination to split. Hanger Steak, Strip and Delmonico for mains. To my dismay, my favorite curried onion rings and blissful potatoes were not on the menu. For me, these are preferred accompaniments to the aged Delmonico, one of my favorite dishes here at City Hall. However, our friendly waiter, who recognized us from last time, told me that the blissful potatoes, whole red potatoes, smashed and fried in duck fat would be made available. Buttermilk onion rings made a fine substitution for the curried variety although they were sorely missed. As is customary, the light fry combo was wonderful. And as is also customary, I would not let anyone have any of the fried oysters. One of the best appetizers in the city. My wife and I had a glass or two of Rhone and Henry’s Blend. Very tasty and generously poured. Steaks. My Delmonico, rare was delicious. So was my wife’s hanger steak, also rare. Last year, my son’s strip was served medium instead of medium rare. With our son’s disappointment fresh in our minds, we watched as he cut into his steak. The first two slices were done through. We asked for a refire and after some«discussion» this was accomplished, appreciated and the perfectly cooked steak was ultimately consumed with gusto by our hungry son. Sides as usual were epic. New to us was the panko coated zucchini. Fabulous. Great coffee, double espresso, pear cobbler and caramel ice cream rounded out a very nice meal. Surprisingly, expected flourishes were absent this time around. No bread service and no cookies with the bill. Perhaps there was a disconnect between our waiter and his assistant who had started at City Hall that day. Perhaps not. The bill was also brought to us before we requested it which was also surprising. A nice sight was Henry Meer working. Seeing a successful chef/owner expediting orders in advance of a long holiday weekend, was, in two words, very cool. City Hall has been making our family happy for many years. We’re looking forward to next year.

You really can’t go wrong at City Hall, from the French fries to the serious steak dish… you will leave there happy. Lunch is a good time to go. They have a nice menu, mostly meats, but very good choices. The place is a great ambience and the staff are very attentive. Presentation and plating of food is memorable. You can’t really mess up here… it is a great place to have a meal.

I went for restaurant week to try a new place but I was sorely disappointed. The service was mediocre at best — no one ever checked to see if we needed anything or if we enjoyed what we were eating. The appetizers were delicious but the entrée portions were so small as to not exist. It was as if we did not exist at the table and all courses took far too long. I often use restaurant week to find my new go to spots but I’m afraid this won’t be one of them. Stingy, inattentive, careless. It will be my only visit.

The outdoor seating is nice, but even taking this into consideration, I’m seriously shocked by the fact that City Hall gets over 3 stars. City Hall was both INCREDIBLY overpriced and the food was sub-par. I went here with some colleagues for drinks and appetizers. We had the seafood tower(came with lobster, oysters, clams, and cocktail shrimp… supposedly), calamari, fried oysters and a bunch of drinks(a manhattan, martini, and a bunch of allagash). Sadly, the seafood tower — which was priced at $ 65 — was incredibly underwhelming. The oysters were dry, small, and few in number, and the lobster tail was so dry and rubbery that we passed on eating it; this left some clams(the smallest I’ve seen in my life) and cocktail shrimp. In short, we paid a large sum for some overcooked, dull, dry and rubbery fish… and not even very much of it. The calamari and oysters were so salty that we also couldn’t finish these appetizers(between 3 people). The manhattan was charged an extra $ 1 for ice(SERIOUSLY, an extra charge for ICE?!) and the martini was super overpriced. Even the Allagash was several dollars more than where you’d find at a neighboring restaurant.

I had my wedding at City Hall on May 23, 2015, and I cannot say enough good things about the venue. It is such an incredibly attractive space. Our guests were COMPLETELY floored by how stunning it was. We had out ceremony in the lower level in the Granite Room, and used the Rose Room for the Bridal Suite. It couldn’t have been a more perfect set up. We used the Lounge for cocktail hour, and the main dining room for our reception. Our wedding was stunning. It felt like a classic old world NYC event, and it really did not break the bank at all. We have Richard and Annette who are event directors, to thank for such a wonderful day. We had a couple of hiccups with the planning, and since the issues arose from their end, they MORE than accommodated us. Not only did they upgrade our package to give us extra space, but they threw in complimentary food as a way to make up for the the inconveniences. Everything on our wedding day went off without a hitch. The rooms were decorated per our instructions, and everything turned out to be more gorgeous than expected. Let me also say that the food is incredible. So delicious, and Henry Muir, the chef, is truly a talented. All of our guests told us that it was the best food that they ever had at a wedding. I actually got to eat on my wedding day, and we did a tasting in the winter, so I can concur that the food was outstanding. We served Norwegian Salmon, Chicken Francaise, Steak Poivre, and delivious sides like roast vegetable, and potatoes au gratin. The appetizers were salad or this super creamy and delicate buuternut squash soup. People are still raving about the steak and the soup! The best part about having the wedding was the staff. They are so great to work with, and there is never any attitude, or fuss. They are professional, polite, and friendly. During the entire wedding not a single glass of wine was left empty, nor was anyone hungry. Their choices for cocktail hour are so impressive. We had people singing praises about the Mediterranean rice, and mac n cheese. All such high quality, and compared to other wedding halls, completely reasonable. City Hall is a fantastic place to have your wedding. It isn’t cookie cutter, and the food will knock any catering hall out of the park. The service is great. The wine selection is EXCELLENT to. If you order the house red you will get the red made especially for Henry’s restaurant by a vineyard in Washington. Its really a nice smooth velvety wine that anyone would like. We did signature drinks, that they happily tacked out for a fair cost, and we did not feel worried about it at all. They were nice looking drinks too! A French Martini(with framboise) and a Manhattan. We were very happy. Richard, Annette, thank you so much for an amazing wedding. We will be back on our anniversary, and hopefully many more times than that!

Sorry. I can’t take seeing a dog in the dining room and then placed in a booth where I’ve actually dined before. I don’t care if it’s the owner’s wife’s dog. If you’re running a pet-free establishment, then your dog shouldn’t be in the pet-free establishment with his dirty paws on the table and seats. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

I went to City Hall for lunch. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. This is very much an old New York restaurant. You can tell they care about the food they serve and the experience that the diners have. We need more of this in NYC! The chef, Henry, does a fantastic job of combining a traditional steakhouse fare with healthy twists! I highly recommend City Hall. Excited to come back for dinner and brunch!

I brought a friend to City Hall for a birthday lunch, but we ended up sitting at the bar and we are so glad we did. Bethany, the bartender was so kind, attentive and knowledgeable. She made wonderful suggestions for our entrée(lamb chops!), our drinks(champagne!), and our deserts(cheesecake & chocolate souflee cake!). I couldn’t resist asking where she was from, and I wasn’t surprised to discover that she was from Virginia. Her southern hospitality was a welcome treat in TriBeCa. Thank you, Bethany, for such a special birthday meal!!!

My limited experience with City Hall was nothing but positive. City Hall is a rather nice restaurant on Duane Street, making it highly convenient for the courthouse/WTC crowd. Service is pleasantly prompt and polite. The ambiance is definitely the American high-end style you would expect from a restaurant in the courthouse area, which I found rather nice. I had a group dinner here and genuinely enjoyed the drinks, my steak, and the various appetizers I had an opportunity to try. The steak and oysters I tried both stood out, as I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality. Highly recommended!

Went there today for a restaurant week lunch. Everything started out as planned with service being attentive. Within 15 mins of our dining experience it started to go down south. I ordered the rissotto with truffle oil and asked before ordering if I could taste the truffle. The waitress said yes its noticeable. My colleague and I both got that and were disappointed that it just tasted like mediocre rissotto. We then waited another 30 mins for our entrees before asking the waitress where our food was. She said to us «oh yeah I was wondering too so I checked up on it». It would have been nice for us to keep us posted. After the food came it seemed like our waitress decided to ignore us. Never asked us once if everything was to our liking. Didn’t ask us if we wanted coffee or tea with our dessert. Pretty much just put the check down at the end and walked away. I was really surprised since I came here a year ago and everything was awesome. I wonder if its because we had a restaurant week menu.

My coworkers and I visited City Hall on our lunch hour. We were silly enough not to make a reservation but they told us we could sit at the bar and even had others scoot down to make room for our party of 5. Unfortunately that is where the niceties ended. Although I would like to say I am not making judgements on City Hall’s wait staff because we were served by the bartender. so yeah. While being tended to by the bartender it just felt like he didnt want us there. The food was awesome. As my appetizer I got the Tuna Tartare which was nicely seasoned. For my entrée I got the Scallops with penne. Getting seated along with waiting for our appetizers took 45 minutes so we had to get our entrees to go. I would visit again if I had more time to stay.

I love this place. Phenomenally good good food, great space and a very consistent go to spot in the neighborhood. I have been a patron here for years and the consistency here is second to none. I highly recommend a visit and I think the varied menu offers something for everyone.

Came here for a lunch meeting, this place looks like your typical old-school New York joint, a la Delmonico’s where business deals get done over a fat, juicy steak. That being said, I was only here for lunch and was not really up for trying to take down a huge steak, so take my review with a grain of salt. Burgers are supposed to be a signature lunch dish here… being part brisket and part short rib, provided by Pat La Frieda. I don’t know if that same meat is used for the bunless burger salad, which, for all intents and purposes… is really just a burger patty next to some salad. I didn’t want to eat with my hands and have burger oil all over when shaking hands with newly discovered associates. Anyway, the burger was good, but I was expecting it to be a lot juicier and less… burgery. I mean, short rib and brisket has got to make it tender and juicy, unless my bunless burger was a different patty altogether. I’d be open to trying this place again, sans work, but for what I had, not sure if the meal warranted the price and ultimately that’s why I choose 3 stars as A-OK instead of a higher rating.

Situado en el bajo Manhattan junto al inicio del Brooklyn Bridge, rodeado de un fabulo jardin, el City Hall Park, se encuentra el ayuntamiento de esta majestuosa ciudad. Simplemente hay que verlo, para que no se diga.
