On our last day in NYC, we walked down the street from hotel and ran into this café. So glad we ventured in. They had a brunch special that included and entrée, cocktail and coffee for 14.95. The food was delicious. The French toast was made with brioche bread and it was light and airy and it had strawberries and blueberries. The eggs Benedict was also a favorite. It came with home fries mixed with onions and peppers. So good. We enjoyed the lychee Bellini. Service was impeccable. Definitely a good choice.

What a great hangover brunch spot! Came here last Sunday morning with some friends, fresh off a hangover, and was immediately seated. We ordered the egg sandwich, breakfast burger, and the omelet off the menu — everything was delicious and the service was pretty good. What makes this place special is that it projects old black and white silent films on one of the restaurant’s walls(if you’re into that sort of thing).

If you don’t specifically say the words prix fixe but order two pitchers somehow that doesn’t count towards getting a free coffee. Makes no sense.

When we tried to go there on 7÷22÷14 we found a hole in the ground where the address was supposed to be. I would say it is closed.

Used to be much better. I live nearby and I used to love going here for brunch or dinner. I now believe it is overpriced and the service seems to have gone downhill. Stay away from the crepes. I also recently had a bad experience when I ordered an $ 18 seared tuna salad for delivery(on seamless). The salad was supposed to be here in 30 – 45 minutes according to seamless. I called after 60 minutes, was out in hold for 5 minutes, and was then quickly brushed off and told it was on its way. The salad finally arrived a few minutes later but when I opened the bag it was completely crushed and the lid had fallen off. It was literally lettuce with tuna on the side(for $ 18!!!) and NODRESSING. I called to ask if they could bring me dressing(as I ordered it and as it was described) and they said it would be there in 10 minutes. After 15 minutes and still no dressing, I called again and was out on hold for another ten minutes before I finally just hung up. 45 minutes later they dropped off a bag full of dressing(about 2.5 hour after my initial order was placed). Management was rude about the entire process. I will not go here again.

I used to go to this place all the time a few years ago and came back recently for the first time. Everything here is ok. I commend them on trying to make the food creative and tasty but its just comes out so-so. There fries are good and they give you various dipping sauce which is nice. The main problem is it’s too overpriced for what you get. Recommend trying another place before you come here, unless you want some good french fries, than by all means stop on by!

I get good from here about 3x per week. It’s a nice casual setting that is good enough to meet friends or take a date. The wait staff is nice and has good food. They have a Kobe burger that is absolutely delicious, which I was pleasantly surprised about. During nice weather they have outside seating on the corner which makes it really nice to come here and have a glass of wine with a friend outside.

While the experience was respectable sitting outside and enjoying the nice weather, the waiter that was serving us was unnecessarily short with us and a bit rude. The food was nothing to rave about either. The eggs were not cooked properly on a couple dishes and our friend’s order was messed up and the dish he ordered only came out by the time that my friend and I had finished our’s. Needless to say, you get what you paid for. For a coffee, brunch entrée, and cocktail — it’s only $ 15. So, I suppose for New York, it’s a good deal! In any case, I think there are far better options in the nearby area than to settle for poor service and mediocre food.

Not bad. Good crab cakes, grilled chicken sandwich and filet mignon sandwich. Also ordered Dupont Saison beer — had two. Ambience average. Service average. Noise level too loud and touristy. Too expensive — for all that — the bill was only 60 bucks plus tip.

«See ya later I’m going to the front of the thee-ay-ter» Oh Cinema! How I didn’t even get a fair chance to know you. Unfortunately this hidden gem on 60th and Madison is closing soon as some big-wig investors bought the building and is giving them the boot. Cutely themed café boasting walls of old time movie posters and iconic celebrities from the days of yore. Food is fantastic and the menu offers quite the variety without seeming like a lame diner or do it yourself salad bar. The chicken with smoked mozz and oven roasted tomatoes sandwich was amazing.(p.s. get the fries!) Unsweetened iced tea… perfect. Waitress was well versed on the menu and the host who sat me was beyond friendly. A particularly great place to take co-workers. Sorry to see you go my dear Cinema Café… you had a good run.

Great service. Amazing food. I had the Monte Cristo and it was bomb! Coffee was hot and delish! I recommend this little café for a little retro brunch.

Cinema is the«in the area» place that all the co workers hang out at after work. One day a few of us came to celebrate a coworker moving on in their career, and I do have to say that I was not impressed. Their drink menu had everything thrown on there which meant to me that they specialized in nothing. I had a Bahama Mama that was less than mediocre for $ 10.90. Which brings me to my next concern, why no happy hour or drink specials? The décor was cute, its named cinema so of course you will see pictures of classic hits and actors/actresses. We sat by the screen and they were playing«Work» a Charlie Chaplin film. The location is great if you work in the are or are shopping but I wouldn’t travel to far to get here.

The number of ‘check-ins’ can tell I’m a fan of this unpopular spot. And the best part is that they service is so nice and friendly, they always smiling and making sure that I’m taken care. when they don’t guess what I’m having, they normally make some suggestions based on what I had so far and they know to take care of their regulars!

After we visit to central park, we passed by this café. We ordered the breakfast to share and the service kind of slow. The breakfast was ok, not much expectation.

I’ve always been a fan of this place. If you find yourself stranded on the Upper East Side in need of a «normal» restaurant, this is the place to go. Great fries, I like the pasta with grilled chicken and their pizza is good too(as is there penne caprese). But there are some flies roaming the air, not to the point where I am grossed out but they could be a bit annoying. Now that I think back, I’m pretty sure my mom told me that my sister was preggers at lunch there. I should admit that most of the people I bring here are not as satisfied as I am, but for some reason this kind of place is right up my alley.

I liked this spot, didn’t love it, but definitely liked it. A-OK. Good for a quick business or social lunch, and the menu has something for everybody but I have no idea what cuisine they’re going for. French? American? Asian? Framasian? I went for the egg white omelette special because I was in a breakfast kinda mood at 1pm and it was nice. The side salad was plentiful versus just a sprig of fancy lettuce and one shaved onion shred. My lunch date had a sandwich and it came with their famous fries which deserve five stars, actually. I kept picking at them, luckily my lunch date was family. Service was efficient for a busy workday lunch hour. I wouldn’t rush back but if I find myself stuck up that way on another visit to NY, I’d go for safety.

I’m confused as to what kind of restaurant this place is going for. Self-described as serving American cuisine with European influences, but then I notice that they have a section of their menu dedicated to dim sum(who would order dim sum at an American diner?). The menu offers typical diner food — sandwiches, burgers, salads, omelettes, pancakes, pizza — but each has plain and fancy versions(e.g., a normal cheeseburger and an Asian lump crab burger). As for the taste, nothing is that great here. I don’t think anyone who lives or works in the area voluntarily returns here for the quality food, especially since you’re paying a premium for what is essentially diner fare. This is apparent in that the restaurant was mostly full of tourists taking a break from shopping nearby on Fifth Avenue or visiting Central Park.

came here for lunch with my boss, and it wasn’t too bad. i actually really liked their décor that involved deep red walls and black furniture. it seems to go with their«cinema» theme with this kind of french inspired, retro feel. but yea, i couldn’t get over how they had rolling chairs to sit in. pretty awesome, i thought. anyway, their food was okay. i can’t say it was extremely good since i just ordered a turkey club — i mean, how wrong can you go with that? so perhaps next time, i’ll be a better judge on their plates. as for their service, pretty good. although i suspected a newbie waitress waiting our table.

I use to be a regular at Cinema Café. The wait staff was extremely friendly. Their menu has changed slightly and the Chilean sea bass is no longer on their menu from the last time i saw but i heard it was back. I usually order their breakfast burrito which i think the tortilla is slightly weird… and i dont like their potatoes which are fried. I had their dinner popcorn which was basically popcorn chicken. These were decent tasted like any white meat pieces of fried chicken. Chicken Napoleon is my main regular. I get this when im feeling like being healthy. Its basically a grilled chicken breast with a roasted red pepper coulis and I get their sauteed broccoli. THe broccoli is usually very tasteless but gets the job done. Ive also ordered their The Ultimate Burger which is decent. Nothing spectacular. THe Chicken Cordon Bleu Burger the chicken was a dry and tough, the cheese was rubbery and the ham was also overcooked dry and tough. The best item at Cinema has to be Roasted Chilean Sea Bass. Im not exactly sure if its a real Chilean sea bass but i have a reason to believe its not but i can not confirm this. Besides that tho its cooked very well and tender. The Seared Rare Ahi Tuna is not very good. It always has a strong fishy smell and taste to it. Its definitely not fresh. Chicken Pot Pie– wasnt a big fan at all. Probably one of the worst chicken pot pies ive ever had… Too much wrong with it. Filet Mignon Medallions With Two Sauces this is actually pretty good. I thought might steaks were cooked well. The quality of the steak was decent for the price. The sauce was a nice compliment to the steak and the tomatoes were delicious. Grilled Marinated Hanger Steak– Wasnt a fan of this. I felt it was too tough despite asking for a rare steak. Mine was over cooked. The Grilled Center Cut Pork Chops– this was pretty decent. I felt the pork chops were cooked well and they remained tender and juicy which is tough i feel with pork. Many times i get them and they are too dry and tough. But the pork chops lacked flavor. Homemade Lobster Ravioli this was also another delicious dish! The sauce was excellent and the raviolis were delicious. I wasnt a fan of any of their pizzas. I thought all their dim sum dishes were disgusting. I think they are all frozen dim sum packages and heated up. The Filet Mignon sandwich is delicious Their Louisiana Spiced Crab Cakes are delicious too i like the bits of corn. Their desserts are decent but nothing great. Sorry my entry was all over the place. Ive probably ordered from cinema around 20 – 30 times and I was trying to remember everything ive eaten there. Its a decent place. Its always consistent. Quality doesnt waver. I usually stick with a few dishes, start with the crab cakes or popcorn, have a chicken napoleon if im in the mood to be healthy, lobster ravioli, filet medallions, or the chilean sea bass.

Cinema Café has a nice theme to the restaurant, with several TV’s showing memorable black-and-white movies, old movie posters plastered on the walls, basket weave chairs for the tables that are placed outside on nice nights, to the semi-plush leather chairs for the tables inside the restaurant. The ambiance is trendy but with a classy feel to it. Situated in the front are about 7 – 10 tables, followed by a small L-shaped bar with ~10 stools, and another 10 – 15 tables in the back of the restaurant. A colleague and myself decided to come here for a drink, and wound up getting dinner. The restaurant was half-full so we were seated immediately by the maitre-d. Service was decent. Upon sitting down, we were given menus and our drink orders were taken. I ordered a Smutty Nose Brown Ale, NH($ 6.00). Our drinks and glasses of water came out in 1 – 2 minutes, a nice surprise as I don’t usually expect to receive my drinks for at least 5 minutes. The waiter asked if we were ready to order from the menu but we informed him that we need a couple minutes which he gladly nodded and walked away. The waiter was pretty patient and took good notice to not come to the table again until we closed our menus and informed him that we were ready to order. The waiter and busboy were pretty attentive on refilling our glasses of water before it was half empty and asking if we wanted another drink when close to empty. For my entrée, I chose to order light and went with the Soba Noodle Salad which includes grilled teriyaki chicken, grilled asparagus, seasonal vegetables and baby greens in sesame dressing for $ 12.95. The meal took about 10 minutes to came out and was decently proportioned with 6 – 7 strips of grilled chicken in teriyaki sauce. The chicken was tender and delicious. All veggies were crisp and fresh. The sesame dressing(served on the side) complemented the salad so well. It was not overpowering, but just seemed to bring the right amount of sweetness to the slight bitterness of the greens. Delicious!!! In all, service was average, the price of the food was moderately priced, and the Soba Noodle salad was actually surprisingly good.
