I’ve paid my fair share of ridiculous midtown prices but $ 16 and change at a take out chain for a bowl of romaine lettuce with just a few light toppings + bottle of water makes me queasy. The salad tasted good, but won’t be coming back

Chop’t is a salad chain in New York City that specializes in you guessed it — deliciously chopped salads. I think it totally puts a twist on traditional salads like the Greek and Caesar salads, while still allowing customers to customize their choices and opt for different things depending on what they like. I definitely like Chop’t, every time I go the staff is always super nice to me and it’s really warming to get out of the office and get service like that. The way it works is that you get on the line(yes, it can be long sometimes, but you can definitely see why, am I right?), you are warmly greeted by one of the staff to where to go choose your greens and toppings, then told where to go to get your salad chopped and dressed. I definitely recommend their Kebab Cobb with falafel — chop’t falafel is really god! The price may seem a bit steep for lunch(most options are over $ 10), but the ingredients are really fresh and delicious. Plus, they always pack the salad to the top and bread is typically included.

I absolutely LOVE this place! Everyone is so wonderful here and you can tell that the staff really cares about their customers. I just can’t say enough good things about this Chop’t location. I’m out and about most days and pass by other salad places and ALWAYS make sure to stop here for my daily salad. The shop is well run and it is apparent that everyone works as a team. Always a great experience and always happy to see the stellar people at the Grand Central Chop’t. Two BIG thumbs up!!!

Total ripped off, I was supposed to get my refund because they got my order wrong and I waited for 2 ½ hours for my delivery. Guess what they didn’t give me a refund. I am going to do the public a favour and get this news out to everyone online. I am going to review this place so badly till they close it down.

Don’t order here for delivery. My salad didn’t arrive for almost two hours, and was wilted and disgusting.

This is my favorite spot for salad. I can eat here 5 days a week. My favorite salad to get is the Mexican Ceasar salad. You can also ask for it in a wrap and its more filling. Prices aren’t bad for the sizes you receive. If you are in the mood for a great nutritious fresh salad, I highly recommend this spot.

Depending on the time of day lines are intimidating. I’ve been deterred for a while. However, this week I took the plunge and waited in the long, loopy line around 2:10?Took probably 13 minutes tops… They clearly have the lunch line handled now. They’ve hired a person to direct you to where you need to go. Plus, yesterday I went around 1:30 and there was no line… People eat a late lunch ’round these parts. The salads themselves are pretty great when I’m craving the crunch and munch of greens. I always buy the ones already crafted on the menu because they come with more ingredients for the money as opposed to you making your own. Some good classic salads: Chop’t Cobb Po’ boy(but it ain’t the healthiest, obviously) Palm beach with chicken Dressings: Greek yogurt tzatziki Mexican goddess They have these new hot salad/bowl things that are good/filling also! Love the hot/cold combo… Makes salads more luxurious. I mean. It’s expensive, but so are basically all of the other salad chain giants in NYC. If I truly wanted to save money/be healthier, I would get my act together, make lunch and not be eating out in the first place.

I don’t even like salad, but I LOOOVVVE Chop’t. I seriously believe this is the best salad you could ever get. The rice bowl(Braised Chicken Tinga) is to die for. Despite it always being overcrowded, service moves fast and prompt. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating and it helps that one of the choppers is really cute ;)

**UPDATE** Management of Chop’t read my review and sent me a thoughtful email within hours of my post. I have decided to give them another try. Apparently they’re in the midst of making some changes and I just got caught up in that process. I’ll go back and following that I will update my review. ORIGINALREVIEW What a miserable experience. Once I got to the front of the line I asked the line director for a menu and was told that it is written on the glass part of the counter. The only problem with that is that during the lunchtime rush there are a bunch of people standing at the counter so I couldn’t see what ingredients were available. Once I got to the serving counter, I selected my greens and asked the server if there was a menu or list somewhere of the ingredients. He pointed to the glass part of the counter but again there was someone standing in front of it so I still had no idea what ingredients they had. Since it was lunch and the line was enormous, I just started telling him what I generally like on my salad. «Onions?» I asked? «We only have fried onions.» «Mushrooms?» “We don’t do mushrooms.“ Then the counter with the menu list opened up so I took a look(the black lettering is very hard to read, btw) when the server started barking at me. «Steak? Chicken? Whatta you want on your salad sir?» Me, trying to figure out why they have cranberries but not onions or mushrooms: «Ahhhh, gimme a sec…» «Get some steak, sir! You want steak?» «Sir! Whatta you want? Get some chicken!» «Sir! Whatta you want on your salad? Steak? Chicken?» Me: «How much is each ingredient?» «You get four and then there’s the premium list.» Me: THISCLOSE to leaving due to exasperation. «Which ones are on the premium list? I can’t believe you guys don’t do menus!» «Sir the menu is right in front of you. Whatta you want on your salad? Steak? You want steak?» I blurted out a few items and moved to the chopping station, where I was subjected to more of the same. «What dressing do you want?» «What do you have? If you had a menu I’d be able to give you an answer.» The server points to the glass part of the counter, where again, someone is standing so I can’t read the list of dressings. I look up and crane my neck to read the dressing list, which is located down towards the registers making it very hard to read. «Sir, what dressing do you want?» «Do you have a Caesar dressing?» He rips the top off the dressing container, splashes some dressing on the salad and proceeds to «chop» it. But he doesn’t use a chopper like the other chopping guys next to him. He uses a piece of white plastic to violently stab the salad until it was«tossed.» He pours the salad into the container, spilling a bunch of it, and I was off to the cashier. Again, I asked the cashier about the whole menu situation to which she replied, «Of course we have menus. They’re in front, right inside the door.» She rang up my salad, $ 10.32. As I walked out, I looked again for the elusive menu that supposedly lurked in the front area just inside the door. To no avail. I found nothing. I’ve been to a bunch of different Chop’t locations, and they’re generally good, albeit a little pricey. This location, however, was an experience to forget.

I am upgrading my review 1 star because Chop’t contacted me expressing concern that this location is missing the mark with quality and they will look into it. I appreciate they are listening to their customers on Unilocal and taking corrective action.

for the past month or so, every salad I get from this place is either missing an important ingredient(like avocado) or a dressing or the chopper does an extremely lousy job with the salad barely cutting anything. I don’t know what happened to the quality of the service, but I’m not going back for this frustrating experience again. Way to lose a loyal client!

I like a few things about this place. They do a good job cutting up their kale and offer some good ingredients. My two issues with Chopt in general is their charge of «premium veggies» leads to confusion and getting overcharged and their bread is just slices of tortilla bread. Who wants to eat plain tortilla? So bland.

So I upgraded the review to 4 stars. The District Manager read my review and sent me an email through Unilocal noting that she voiced my concern to the hospitality managers to improve the crowd control at this location. Let’s see what happens. But since I got an email basically within a day of writing this review, it shows that management does care about this. This is why I increased my review one star.

Make your own salad, is really nice and it allows you to decide how much you want to eat. They have many options and you will always find a line there. However, the line does indeed move quickly and within 10 minutes your out. The price is a bit higher then the other places nearby, but with that kind of turnover, you are sure to have fresh vegetables and toppings.

The one star is for the nice staff in this location. That’s it. Ordered online hoping I can minimize my wait. One guy who walked in with me(who did not order online) left the store with his salad before I even get my online order. And I don’t understand how a place called Chop’t and the salad was not chopped at all. The lettuce was soggy and they are very cheap with their toppings. I have like 5 tiny cubes of chicken in my entire salad! The café downstairs from my office and Just Salad do a much better job. I will not return again.

I’m impressed with Chop’t today. I have a nut allergy and food service workers typically give me gripe and act like they are frustrated or have no idea what to do in these cases. Not here! The guy that helped me immediately took off his gloves and put new ones on, found out exactly what I hoped to order, including the dressing, and then got a manager to verify that my choice was safe. I could have asked her questions if I needed to. And he had the best smile on his face which was really refreshing. Also my salad was , Santa Fe with Ted mex ranch. Fun fact: the dressings all have no sugar in them(or gluten). My only complaint is that the price of lettuce is too damp high. I would come every day and spend 6 or 7 dollars instead of my once a month 12 or 14 dollars. Even if I came three times a week you’d still be taking in three times as much money. JUSTTAKWMYMONEY And give that guy a raise.

Ehh… kind of mediocre, like a lot of lunch options east of Grand Central. First of all, you know this place is making a killing because lettuce is dirt cheap and they’re not exactly piling on the other vegetables to give you your money’s worth. That being said, they do have a lot of options, and at least you get a lot of lettuce. The whole«chopping» thing is a bit gimmicky and makes getting a salad take longer than it really should.(This is definitely not the employee’s fault — they work as fast as they can in a really crowded location.) And, I dunno, there’s something a bit unappealing about eating something that’s been scraped off a board. The romaine in my salad tasted oddly bitter, and the chick peas were on the hard and crunchy side. You could do worse for lunch around here, but you could also do better. Big respect to the employees for being on top of everything when it’s packed. Bocca Bliss around the corner on 3rd is better.

I like this new location they opened in midtown, it’s really convenient and their salads are great! service is pretty quick too. Try their special dressing, you can ask for it on the side. I got their mexican goddess dressing on the side and it was surprisingly good, better than my original boring creamy caesar dressing mixed in. They stack the salad really high and it does come out to be pretty expensive for a huge bowl of salad. I got lucky and came here when they had a promotion and they were giving out their salads for free so I got to put a whole lot of topping on it. I added shrimp, breaded chicken and steak with beets, avacado, corn, homemade croutons and cheese. The salad came out to be really good, I think steak was the best, it was a little smoked, everything else mixed in tasted really fresh and it goes really well with the mexican goddess dressing I had on the side.
