Great food but their delivery has been late the last few times we have ordered. Currently going on a half an hour late as of right now.

In my quest to find a chinese place in the heights that I really like, this was one I tried. I ordered the general Tsos chicken. Chicken tasted like it was over cooked and was too crunchy for my liking. I like my chinese meals to have a little extra sauce, but this one was literally swimming in sauce. Maybe my experience was a one off, but I am not likely to return.

Holy shrimp and eggplants this place caught me off guard. I feel like I’ve eaten now at a handful of places labeled China Sun or Sun China or some other derivative of that combo(I’m sure there is one) but this one has some of the best garlic eggplant I’ve had in recent memory. The garlic sauce they cook it in is a little more red and a tad bit spicier but the flavors really pop and when they cook the eggplant well(so far 3 out of 4 times), it really is the best garlic eggplant you can get in Washington Heights. Add on some really really well cooked shrimp, you get a really really good meal for $ 6. That being said, everything else I had was fairly unimpressive. General Tso’s was alright and the Fried Rice was dry every time. I usually order out but I visited the Sun once and it is exactly what you’d expect it to be: one table and a counter top with the universal Chinese take out pictures taped in two rows across the walls. So if I was allergic to eggplant or shrimp, I would take my take out fetishes elsewhere but I ate eggplant and shrimp for lunch everyday for a week and all I can say is that I’ve never been more tempted to consume my own feces(ew, who said that?).

I don’t know why this doesn’t have a higher rating. I love China Sun. It’s so cheap, the portions are MASSIVE(hello, meal three of mapo tofu!), and the workers in the restaurant have all been very nice. Obviously, you shouldn’t be expecting dim sum here, but for a solid Chinese take-out joint, this is one of your better options in Washington Heights. The place is a tucked away, hole-in-the-wall, so you definitely can only do take-out or delivery here. I would recommend take-out since other reviewers have seemed to have problems with the actual delivery. Take-out has gone smoothly everytime I’ve ordered from them. The mapo tofu and the eggplant with garlic sauce are my favorites here, and while I am personally not a fan of crab rangoon, I must say their version of it is actually delicious.

1-star review is based not on food quality which was OK, but on the delivery. My friend and I ordered via seamless. The delivery estimate was 30 – 45 minutes, and to be fair I did not start the«clock» when we ordered, but rather when our order was confirmed. I called to check on the food after a full hour, and let them know we wanted to cancel the order if it hadn’t left yet since we were on a schedule. They were not willing to cancel, and LIED, telling us the food had left the restaurant and was already on the way. We waited an hour and a half before the food finally showed up — MISSING part of our order. Atrocious customer service. They recognized my number when I called back and purposely didn’t answer. A «wireless customer» voice mailbox(full) came up instead. Horrible.

It’s cheap, relatively quick, and good. Not the most delicious food in the world but reliable and never gross or bad. The best inexpensive Chinese delivery in the area.

Best for price in neighborhood! I order through seamless and love everything we’ve ordered thus far. The quality is on the level of Szechuan or other high end chinese food at the price of takeout only spots. Ive since given up on all other spots. Food also seems fresher and healthier than most.

BEST: Get their House Special Mei Fun! WORSE: Their fried rice isn’t very good :/ Chinese for CHEAP! $ 5 – 8 for a meal. Portions are large. Taste is pretty good for it’s price. Let’s just say I’ve had a lot more TERRIBLE Chinese food in the Heights for a lot more.

Cheap Chinese food, you get what you pay for. But portions are generous and the taste is okay. Get delivery or take out.
