I love Cha Pa’s food so much. We always get delivery and it indeed never fails to deliver. The phở(we get chicken and beef) is always delicious and comes with all the ingredients you need for phở. For delivery, it is packaged nicely and nothing ever leaks or is otherwise damaged. We also get the chicken skewers that comes with the most amazing sweet chili sauce. I always have enough left over to use for other dishes throughout the week that we make ourselves.(Kind of weird you only get an odd number — three — instead of an even number like two or four.) The chicken gyoza is also delicious, and again, the sauce is excellent. Love this food!

A sweet little place. It feels very authentic & the staff is very attentive. The pork spring rolls were just OK, but the hanger steak phở was excellent. A perfect warm meal for a chilly January night in NYC. I’ll be back on my next trip to the theater district!

I ended up here for dinner on New Years’ day, a plan B, to our Plan A of Ramen(either Totto or Ippudo). Both Plan A options were closed, and no surprise, since New Year’s day is a huge holiday in Japan. The TL; DR of this ultimately is, go to Obao instead, if you’re craving better/more authentic Vietnamese. Bf and I ordered spring rolls to start. Springs rolls were more chewy than crispy. It tasted average. BF ordered the clay pot pork belly. It should have been named cast iron pot pork belly, as it came in a handled cast iron pot. I hate when a menu sets you up for one thing, and then gives you another. The pork belly was braised in an overly sweetened soy sauce broth with vegetables, and the dish didn’t particularly sing to me. I ordered a Cari ga, expecting a punchy, savory yellow curry, but this was more a cross between a Thai massaman and panang — sweeter, more reddish, with a peanutty undertone. It was again, not what I had expected. I don’t care for overly sweet in my savory. All in all, it was serviceable, but not quite there for me.

As a Chinese whose hometown near Vietnam, eat Vietnam foods over 20 years, I have to say, I really hard to find something special and authentic, at least to me, not enough authentic.

Ordered the phở and spicy beef noodle soup and both were ok. Not the greatest I’ve had but the service was good and fast. If your not Vietnamese, then maybe you would think its the greatest? But I can’t help it, my mom makes the best :)

After going through several Vietnamese places, i am so excited to finally have found a good phở place with vegan options in Manhattan! I also ordered a summer roll– both orders hit the spot! The service was also exemplary– timely, courteous and always done with a smile. I am definitely going back!

3 stars for food — I quite like their food but I’m not ordering take out from this place again. 0 stars for delivery service. Took 90 mins for what was a 45min estimate during weekend lunch time. I’ve had multiple bad experiences with their delivery service over the years. Late and rude. Very unfortunate.

We were planning on going to eat some ramen next door, however the line was too long and we were starving. So we came here and ended up eating some phở and Vermicelli. Phở is phở. Nothing special.

Vegetarian phở was off the hook. Such a vibrant, colorful and diverse selection of vegetables. Clean and flavorful soup broth. Nice atmosphere and a great place to sit down and relax while getting your noodle fix. I’m a huge fan of phở and I would say this is one of the better bowls that I’ve had the pleasure of having.

3 stars is the correct review for this place. I’ve been to Vietnam, and had authentic Vietnamese cuisine before. But lets be clear, I am not expecting that when I eat Viet here, but it’s always in the back of my scoring card. This place is a decent delivery option if you work in midtown. 3 stars for the food, which we did family style and tried a little of everything. Bonus fractional star for being in midtown and within the delivery range.

Their clay pot entrees are not actually cooked in a clay pot. Which would be fine, if the entrees otherwise tasted good. But they don’t. So, no thank you.

My friends and I ended up at Cha Pa’s by chance. We were trying to go to another restaurant around 8:30pm on a Friday night, but the wait was too long. We were craving Asian food and passed by this place so we thought we would give it a try. I was excited since I was craving Vermicelli noodles! I ordered the Grilled Pork Vermicelli Bowl with Cha Gio Roll and thai iced tea and my friends both got the Spicy beef lemongrass soup(Bun bo hue). Pros: Service was pretty good, they were quick and checked up on us a few times Vermicelli Bowl had really good flavor Cons: I paid $ 2 extra for the a very small Cha Gio Roll — don’t think that was worth it There wasn’t that much meat in the Vermicelli bowl My friends must have gotten the bottom of the pot for their spicy beef soup. The lemongrass was too overpowering. The thai iced tea was watered down, and didn’t have that bold tea flavor. The food here was subpar and I could’ve gotten better vietnamese food at a better price in Northern VA or Richmond.

I had another Broadway show to catch(Finding Neverland– awesome btw!) yesterday so I came back to Chapa’s for dinner before the show. They never disappoint! This time the manager introduced me to try their fried chicken and I must say, it’s one of the best fried chicken I ever had. Well marinated, extra crispy, BIG, juicy and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend it. Their BBH is still one of my favorite in New York. Not all Vietnamese restaurant serves this so I make sure I order it when I see it available on the menu. Chapas top the ones I had from Brooklyn– 86st, 7th ave and 8ave and Queens– Elmhurst. Repeat customers makes the best customers! = Me!

+/-THE FOOD Was desperate for food at 9PM on a Tuesday night so the boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli bowl and he got the grilled pork rice plate. Despite the both of us getting grilled pork, our meats tasted completely different. Mine was so dry, lacking in flavor, and cold that it was difficult to eat. His was hot, fresh, and really flavorful. What’s the deal with that? My noodles tasted decent and came with a bunch of veggies. Portion sizes are pretty big so get what you paid for.

Ordered through Seamless. It took forever! If you’re thinking of putting«Please deliver ASAP» as a note to restaurant… don’t bother. I called about 2 — 3x because I was starving! I got the chicken skewers(comes in 3). I inhaled one, my husband got one, and we shared the last. When my husband bit into his, he tasted a fishy taste. Looks down and lo behold RAWUNCOOKED chicken. Are you kidding me? I get it… people on Unilocal complain when food don’t taste good. But EASILY we could’ve got really sick. He ended up having an upset stomach, but that was because he tried to throw up most of the raw chicken. Disgusting… if you can’t even get a skewer right, I don’t even know how the restaurant is still in business. AVOID!

Not going to lie, but I go through phases where I come here every day for lunch. I’m not too picky so can’t comment on how authentic it is… but when you want Vietnamese food, this place hits the spot. They have a nice array of lunch specials under $ 10(w/o tip). Service is quick and friendly, especially since I usually come here for a late lunch. I’ve had the beef phở, the vermicelli noodles, and the chicken curry with rice.

It’s a nice little place offering Vietnamese food. I’m not sure how authentic it is since I only tried the bang xeo, but it was pretty good. The rice crêpe was light and embedded with shrimp, green and red peppers, and white button mushrooms. The crêpe was dipped into fish sauce. This place seems good for a nice, fast, light option in the theater district.

Today, Boo and I came here for our Vietnamese fix. There were a few PROs and a couple CONs, which I’ll break down for ya’ below… PROs: + Good food + Vegan options + Lunch special prices are good, and portions hearty CONs: — The server was a bit rude, and this does reflect on the restaurant itself We specifically(but kindly) told the server several times we did not want any fish sauce, oyster sauce, or any other animal product on anything. He assured us nothing had it, and when he brought the side salad he said it has fish sauce so I said we couldn’t have it. He ran off unapologetically after a heavy sigh and eye roll without offering to bring us the salad without the dressing. Not our fault bro — we told you we didn’t want fish sauce and you acknowledged this. Anyway, we got the summer rolls, vegan phở(me) and vermicelli veggie bowl(Boo). The summer rolls were good, served with hoison sauce. I felt like it could have used basil, mint and/or carrots in it as it was just tofu, vermicelli and bean sprouts which is just lacking in flavor contrast. The phở was really good, albeit the plate of veggies /sprouts they brought out with it was rather dismal — in most Vietnamese places(not strictly comparing this to the ones I’d frequent in California, but local ones as well) I have always been given a large plate of basil, sprouts and other veggies. The Boo’s vermicelli bowl was great and had lemongrass which we loved. In summation, I may return if already in the area and wanting Vietnamese fare, but will stick to what I know is good.

I came here for dinner with my friend. I enjoyed the diverse music, there was some old school kpop. And I love me some Kpop(girl groups only)!!! I got the Vietnamese beer for myself and we shared the spring roll. We both ordered the hangar steak noodle soup. The soup tasted like something I could get in Chinatown. But it was still a good hearty beef noodle soup. I really suspect that the staff are mainly Chinese and loosely Vietnamese. I would come back here if other options around the area had a long wait.
