Beware, the jumbo crab cakes look deceptively small but the end result is heavy; especially as it’s paired with a creamy based sauce. Wish the chef would pair it with something lighter so that the end result would not have been so cloying.

Who’s classier than me? Well, we probably don’t have time for the whole list, but my point is that I went to the Century Club for a book signing event and I felt extremely classy the entire time I was there. And not half-assed classy like when you wear clip on suspenders with your suit, but full on classy like when you get your shoes shined right after a haircut and you’re wearing a brand new tie, from a real department store(not TJ Maxx). The entry hall is lovely and the room we were in, which was downstairs, was very cool. Deep red walls, dark carpeting, big furniture, lots of paintings on the wall… it was very calm and respectable. The staff were all extremely courteous and professional. The event itself was incredible… I enjoyed meeting several of my favorite crime/mystery authors including Lee Child, John Connolly, F Paul Wilson and Michael Connelly. What a treat to get my book signed by these and many other fabulous authors. I will likely not have a reason to be invited back to this venue but for a moment, I felt like one of the 1% and it wasn’t half bad!

Dinner here was a great pretext to catch up with the always engaging and generous Chris Gates, who seemed to know everyone there.
