This place is the worst. Waiters are also rude and unprofessional. GOTOTHECUBANPLACENEXTDOOR. Food was nothing special.

I gave them three stars because of the Margaritas! I always order their passion fruit margaritas! They’re amazing! The waiter was ok, he gave us chips and salsa and he claimed it was for free and offered guacamole. So we said fine. We all ordered the beef picadera which was really good. Now when the bill came, boy was I shocked. Come to find out the guacamole wasn’t free but our waiter never said it was going to cost extra for guacamole. It was $ 8 extra?! Then on top of that, gratitude was $ 23! U don’t get a choice to choose if u would like to give a certain percentage or give tip at all. That’s one thing I don’t like is surprises! Since I work around there, I will only go there for their margaritas during happy hour tho

Omg! This place is the worst I will never come here again! I ordered food and it took so long I had to cancel and then they bring us the bill and we have an extra charge for a drink that a what I thought was a gentleman got for us but was not, but the waiter Jose said he knew the person that so called got me the drink and when they guy left and did not pay the bill he quickly threw me under the bus with the manager and pretended that he did not know the guy, meanwhile witnesses said that he knows him, so beware ladies Jose the waiter is his friend, they have some scam going, the managers are horrible I don’t know how the owner have mangers that say that the costumer are wrong and that we have to deal with the what ever the problem is. the managers instead of resolving a simple issue they called the cops and literally said omg! The cops came said so sorry these people handle their business so stupidly, this what the cops said, thank god they were on our side and even people at the place were upset at the managers how they handled stuff and left and told us they left because of they themselves were upset in how the managers treated us, o well they lost customers! And a bad review, I will never go there again! And warning to the public the worst restaurant ever!!! WARNING

This evening a coworker of mine suggested we go to Cancun on 8th Ave between 55th and 56th Street/s Hell’s Kitchen because she said they had a great happy hour and the drinks were good. WELL, first let me mention that the bartender was less than professional, his name is Alex, short stocky dude who has no respect for anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish. I was running a little late so my friend purchased me a drink, i arrived literally 7 minutes after she purchased this drink. All the while I am receiving calls from my friend informing me that the bartender was speaking in Spanish about her to other customers all the while giving her dirty looks because she was holding a seat for me at the bar. MINDYOU, I ARRIVED7 minutes after she ordered the drink. Once I arrived I spoke to this so called bartender(alex) in Spanish and apologized to him for being late. He proceeds to say«no problem» OK, then WTH was the issue with my friend holding a seat for me? He then proceeds to go bad mouth us to the«so called» local/regular from the neighborhood of whom can’t pick his head up from the cup his face had been in since I arrived, on how this is a business and they have to make money. MINDYOU, THEBARWASDEAD! This local had a burgundy fedora and truly looked at us like we were the plague. As we are walking out a «regular/local/alcoholic» stops us and asks us why we are leaving. I proceed to say«this is not the east side and this person has no business trying to act like this is Per Se because he cant even hold a the door for the bartenders at that establishment. I have been to plenty of pretentious restaurants in the past but usually they have the service, drinks, and food to match it. I will go to Guantanamera next time. I always feel welcomed and loved when I go there. Bartender, Michael and hostess Chiara as well as restaurant manager Pablo are amazing. I refuse to tip on useless, unprofessional service, there should be a law against that. I have a sister in the service industry and even when we have bad service she insists I should tip because this is what«they are working for». well this guy, thought i was working for him and i should be grateful i had a seat at the bar, he’s truly mistaken and to boot, word of mouth that the bartender in the afternoon(—- — end of happy hour)(alex) is useless and i’m better off going to the local liquor store and making my own drinks at home. Cancun should really take the time to screen their employees better. It’s already bad enough they are a low end mexican place. Maybe they want to try and change their imagine by replacing their low end bartenders with somewhat sociable ones that will make them money.

CAUTION!!! Visit this place knowing your bill will be padded, your order will be wrong, gratuity will be added without your knowledge, and you will be treated like a piece of garbage. First of all-there were three of us. My friend received a margarita that was more club soda than margarita. When we returned it all hell broke loose. Jessica-the girl that sat us, went into full aggressive angry girl mode. My order was completely wrong-I was hungry so I accepted it. In all fairness-it was not much better than Taco Bell. When our bill was delivered-they charged my husband $ 19 for a margarita he didn’t order. Almost $ 20 gratuity was added without our knowledge. When we brought this up to Jessica she went into a full attack position and told the us that we had to talk to our waiter. We asked our waiter if we could speak to the owner/manager and who shows up at our table-JESSICA-angry and aggressive as a charging bull. She started attacking us like its our fault. She refused to tell me what her position was-all she would say is «I’m Jessica». «The owner and manager isn’t here» — saying it cocking her neck like a chicken-mind you it was a Friday night. Jessica is the RUDEST, NASTIEST, MOSTAGGRESSIVE person I have ever encountered in the food industry. I later found out that she is the sister of the owner. Her name is Becky or Rebeca. So Jessica is on such a power trip and she has it in her mind that she can treat patrons like garbage. Now the owner-Becky needs to realize that you cannot automatically add gratuity without your knowledge. So patrons be aware. CHECKYOURBILL!!! I WILLNEVERGOTOTHISRESTAURANT-EVER!!!

The décor is subpar. The drink I had was terrible(peartini) but the food was delicious. Two girlfriends and I all enjoyed our meals. I got the chicken chimichanga and was very happy. Guac was also tasty. Would come back for a casual,(relatively speaking) inexpensive bite.

I used to go here all the time for the lunch special. However, the last time I was there they didn’t have it anymore(About a year ago). I have moved jobs out of the area, so I haven’t been back to see if they offer it again. Their happy hour is awesome and the frozen margaritas are delicious and lethal!

It’s just okay. I had the carne asada tacos. They beef was pretty chewy. The sangria was okay. They served me fast because I was alone, so that’s good.

Would have been three stars if they didn’t charge us for the sour cream. It was brought to our table; we didn’t ask for it so we thought it came with the meal we ordered. Lo and behold, when it comes to the bill, they charged $ 2 for it. It’s not about the money but rather the principle. They didn’t tell us this was additional cost. I find it really shady. Besides that, they have a good lunch special. A menu with different items for $ 10 and comes with a free sangria. You can’t substitute with soda or another beverage so if you don’t want to smell like booze back at the office, skip it. We ordered the enchiladas and the meal itself was good. You get two enchiladas: one beef and one cheese. It comes with a decent portion of rice and beans. The meal is just enough for lunch for a price that is good for this area. They also serve complimentary chips and salsa(which I know was complimentary because it wasn’t charged on our bill). The chips were nice and hot — tasted very fresh. The salsa was lackluster. It was a bit spicy but very watered down. Overall, it’s not a bad place. Has a cute vibe and feels very festive but I didn’t like how they didn’t tell us about the extra charge for sour cream, sour cream we didn’t request.

Absolutely the worst place! The margaritas are okay but the staff is so inappropriate. The waiter was hitting on my friend and bringing us drinks we didn’t order… we originally went here for a friends bday and the waiter charged us for shots we didn’t order(*which he said were on the house). He also included a gratuity on the check well above 20%!! The drinks and food are not worth rating and the scam artists staff are horrible!

I want to start by saying that we did NOT eat here. So my review is not a reflection of their food. And writing bad reviews is not my idea of a good time. I sat down in this restaurant with a group of 5 on a silent friday night. Only 2 other tables were seated. We sat for 15 minutes with menus. No water on our tables. And I could clearly see a server texting on her phone in the back. Only got water after asking to see a manager– who never came to our table. Only when we were getting up and leaving did someone come over to ask if everything was okay. For a prominent location in uptown Manhattan I expect a lot more as a consumer. Unfortunately even if I did have a chance to experience a good dinner here it was cut short by their awful service.

Cancun NY Manhattan Midtown West 8:30p Friday 17th September 2015 Three Stars They were are able to accommodate our party of 9 on this Friday Evening. We pushed our way past some middle age salsa dancers and sat in a booth plus two table configuration. We enjoyed some Chips, Guacamole, and Salsa($ 12). I had a Milagros and Soda which came in a narrow glass(no lime). The girls ordered Tequila, Lime, and Soda. The waiter brought back«Skinny Margaritas» which had sweet and sour mix. The food was really good by New York Mexican Food Standards. I had the Taco Salad($ 12), which was deep-fried crispy flour tortilla shell filled with shredded chicken, romaine lettuce, onions, quartered wheels of tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and some kind of dressing. It was filling, flavorful and completely satisfying. The service was a bit spotty here and there, probably because of the size of our table. I am not really sure if the bill was tallied correctly but whatever. The place thinned out pretty fast around 10pm. The bathroom is a single person facility.

Passed by on the way to the train and made a mental note that they had $ 9.99 lunch specials. Got off work early one Saturday, and was happy to see that lunch specials run on weekends also. Needless to say, it was pretty quiet. I was seated immediately. I ordered the combination that had a flauta, burrito, served with rice and beans. Also comes with a sangria. Can’t beat that. They brought chips and salsa as well. Food was very good. U could tell the waiter wasn’t thrilled to be there. Understandable. It was a good experience except for the end when I paid my bill. I was not brought back change for over 10 minutes while he was sitting at a table chatting with some diners. I had to ask for change. What was that about?

Very rude waitress A friend and I came here yesterday for lunch. First off she acted as though she were being bothered by us coming into the restaurant. When she had to seat us she just whipped some stuff off a table and said sit there. Ok time to order. I could barely get my order out she was very impatient with us. Food sucked, cheese wasn’t melted on the taco and it was like they already had it waiting in the back it came out in less than 5 minutes. The complimentary sangria was weak and came with ice which I’m not used to. Avoid this place.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times. The staff is always friendly and it’s a fun place. The décor looks like a cheesy bar you would actually find in Cancun. I guess this is part of the charm. I find it kind of interesting that they use a lot of celery in the salsa and vegetable dishes. You don’t often find celery in Mexican cuisine but it works well at Cancun. A couple of words of advice. If a dish comes with a side of beans make sure you specify to your waiter whether you want refried or black beans. Also, order a side of mole for your food. It goes with just about everything on the menu and it tastes awesome.

Came here recently off of a whim… Had intended on going to Iguana’s at first for a margarita which is just a few blocks away from Cancun but Iguana’s was fairly crowded at the bar so figured to try someplace I had not been to before. Only had a lime margarita while I was here so can’t comment on the food but the margarita definitely did its thing. They have a cool happy hour special where margs are $ 4 I believe from Mon. — Sat. ending around 8pm. Definitely will be back here for some happy hour drinks in the near future and will try out some food as well.

Came here with 7 friends this past weekend. The place is cute, but fairly small. Servers were friendly and attentive. However, the food is just not good– and the drinks were even worse. I ordered an original mojito and it was the worst mojito I’ve ever had. The only drink that was enjoyed at my table was one of the margaritas. I had the fish tacos, and they were really not good. The tortilla was stale and tasted store bought, and the fish seemed like a frozen fish stick that had been microwaved. We were all extremely hungry, but really weren’t happy with our meals. The rice and beans were also flavorless. Two of my friends ordered the dessert and loved it– so there’s that. With so many choices in NYC for awesome Mexican food, I just can’t recommend Cancun.

Alimenta mi vientre! Cancún es el mejor lugar por la tarde para mí y para mis amigos que se reúnen y abastecerse de granos y margaritas. Tiros, tiros, tiros, tiros!
