I agree with other reviewers here — whatever you do, do not purchase online. You will receive the WORST customer service by a passive aggressive representative who will tell you that no matter what happened, they will not help out at all. Returned a $ 425 scarf(all bought online) and it wasn’t worth the money. If I had seen it in the store at H&M? I wouldn’t have purchased for $ 9.99. Two other items were just too big. Go to return and had to apply for a return online explaining on their website why, I then had to WAIT for them to approve my return and provide me with a return #(which they have a term for, but they use two different terms and acronyms for this return # which needs to be shown when you do return online) They also state in their response they can respond to you in 24 hours about«approving your return» WTF?. When I got the return # «approving» my returns I thought that was the number for my Return Label. Nope, did my due diligence to find out HOW to return and realized all they give you is an address and it still seems vague on the information they give you when you receive the items. No return label, no easy way to return. Phoned the 1 – 800 line and they said no return options are available by Calypso but they suggest courier services you could use to return(Aren’t you used to printing the return label provided by other stores and putting it in to the same box you got your items with a convenient turnaround? Well, people that’s OTHER stores that live in this trend of, well, you know, the customer convenience realm so they can make a profit… not Calypso! So I paid $ 16.89 printing an online label with USPS and used my own boxes I use when I sell something in E-bay and do so within 45 minutes of receiving the Calypso package — if I didn’t have those boxes I would have had to figure something out because another side note, the box they send with the merchandise was ripped open on one side and crappily packed. When I send them an e-mail responding to my surprise they don’t have return shipping labels they said this to me on their e-mail: «Thank you for contacting customer support at Calypso St Barth. At this time we are happy to note that as a convenience to our customers, free shipping is offered on all orders that exceed $ 150.00. While most retailers do not offer this service, we will be sure to pass along your comment regarding return shipping. We are sorry to see you go and if you require additional assistance, please feel free to contact us.» First, don’t they know almost ALL of their competitors offer FREE shipping? This is NOTHING new. «most retailers don’t offer this service?» Bull. A little passive aggressive E-MAIL saying this to me, no? Now, imagine if I wanted to return and buy the next size hoping it fit me(I returned just under $ 600 worth of items I WOULD have exchanged for another size if I wasn’t paying each return with, did I mention NORETURNSHIPPINGOPTIONS). I kept $ 700 worth of merchandise and loved the tank tops so much and a sweater option I bought another set BEFORE I received my odd e-mail APPROVING my other returns and then the confusion of RETURNINGWITHNOANSWERSFROMTHECOMPANY happened. I spent another $ 300. So, again $ 16 to mail back my returns. Listen Calypso — get yourself in to the 2014 mindset. You want to play with the big boys online? Do more than smoke signals and a Falcon to ship back your sh*t. Do what other quality places do… which is EVERYONEBUTYOU… and provide simpler ways to RETURNYOURITEMS. First, with social media I’ve already a) took to Facebook and Twitter complaining about this return incompetency, b) told the person in the elevator going down what crap it was and the ladies at the front desk who I gave the package to at our apartment complex. So bad publicity travels fast folks(and then, lookie here, Unilocal). If you’re accommodating with NORMALRETURNSERVICECOMPETITIVEWITHYOURCOMPETITORS? It’s a sure way to get us to shop with you again. You have lost a customer and to quote my concierge at the front desk of my apartment when I told them your crap service on returns, «But you’re the online QUEEN of purchasing! They don’t know what they just did to themselves pissing you off!»

Note: this review is for Calypso in general, I just happen to be picking the Madison Avenue branch, though this review applies across the board Ever since the founder left the company about 5 years, Calypso has seemed to go way downhill. I think the items are ok quality, but not great for the price. I go in there wanting to buy something – anything– but the fit and quality are jcrew quality(or worse) at much higher prices that I can’t justify shopping there anymore. The customer service is among the worst I’ve experienced. No one knows what they are doing, if you have a problem they drop the ball. It’s unbelievable these people are making a profit at all. Overall, just not worth it.

This is my favorite store in NYC! I love the casual elegance of Calypso’s clothes. I can wear them to work, to play or just to look good relaxing at home :) The sales people are always helpful and can work with you to put together a great looking outfit that you may not have thought of yourself… with some extra flair!

This is the perfect beach-club Hamptons wear! From Nikki Hilton to the Housewives of NYC everyone wears these tunics to the beach and the dazzling sparkly shifts to an evening out. I love the clothing and the store is beautiful! Nothing beats Madison Ave shopping. The clothes are unique and fit well. The prices are high but, the quality is equal to the pricing.
