For American style brunch options, marked by spots with grits, Bubby’s probably tops the list for spots in Manhattan(both in Tribeca and at the High Line). Like all popular brunch options it’ll get crowded, but they’re putting pink lemonade outside for those who wait on their rocking benches and that’s a good time in and of itself.

So overrated. Not sure why anyone eats here. The BBQ is the worst. They can’t even make a desent burger.

They can get away with charging $ 4 for a slice of toast because everything here is delicious. How they do it, I don’t know. The James Beard pancakes. Get them. Still one of the best brunches in the city.

Loved it! Great ambiance, good food. Loved the décoration and the energy. A bit too expensive and no choice of Coffee. Staff nice but also a bit snoby. They also have no WiFi available for costumers.

I came here for a date. The date isn’t here yet, so I figured I would use this time to review a establishment that was new to me. Bubby’s is a Bar Restaurant in the Tribeca area that seems to cater to the hipster that had evolved into the yuppie who can afford to live in this neighborhood, but still need to be able to get a beer and a bite to eat without breaking the bank. The walls and decorations are southern-themed, with wood furnishing all around for the eye to see. I had a Pilsner and four biscuits from the beautiful bartender(I will always have a weakness for Spanish accents). The biscuits are buttery, flakey, a perfect golden brown, and puffy to the point that I thought it was a popover. It comes with stawberry jam served in a separate ramekin, and Vermont Creamery cultured butter individually wrapped. I recommend it for those in the area who are lost and hungry. Come here, get a bite, a drink or two, then leave when your date doesn’t show up after a half hour.

Today is the last day I eat at Bubby’s. I’ve been coming for about 2 years now because it’s close to my office and it used to be tasty but its consistently been going downhill. Thought I’d give it another chance today but this was the last straw. The staff could care less about you, the service is slow, the menu is way overpriced, the restaurant is crammed and good luck if you want to change even one item on your order. This is a diner and nothing more, so I’m not sure why you can’t switch out items on things like hamburgers especially when you have an allergy. I found out I was allergic to items in the chicken burger after I had already eaten some and they were trying to convince me to order something else but at my own cost. I’ve never been to a place that is so unaccommodating and rude. The management needs to change or just relax the ordering policy. This is not a fine dining restaurant and I will not be returning. There are far better places in the neighborhood for better value, better quality, better ambiance and better service. The one star is for their french fries, they were kind of cold but tasty. The chicken burger was really mushy inside and unappetizing.

So surprised they rank so low on Unilocal.I had Mother’s Day brunch here and we loved it! Nothing is perfect, with that said we waited about an hour for a table. It was worth it. We walked around TriBeCa and looked over the river and kids park in the neighborhood while we waited to be texted about our table. Once we arrived they were very nice. We started with delicious drinks. I had a strawberry Rhubarb. Delicious! food wise, The Biscuits Are a MUST!!! So soft and fluffy on the inside and perfectly golden brown on the outside! 100% better than red lobster lol actually incompatible. The jam spread was a plus plus! The fries are also good. We all enjoyed our food and time. Our waiter was really nice. He made sure we were good with understanding the menu and very open to questions. We had a great experience I would return and recommend!

Bubby’s is tight. I came here for a lovely breakfast(which is available from 7 am-4 pm?!) and had a savory Eggs Benedict. We also shared the Bubby’s buttermilk biscuits which are so warm and fresh. The homemade granola tasted like it was made with local ingredients. I also showed up once for a quick Saturday evening drink and loved the Bubby’s Punch. It is fruity, summery, and refreshing with its orange and cranberry fusion. The atmosphere is cozy and nice for small and large groups.

Is your company taking you out to eat? Than this is the place to go! But if you’re buying your own meal out of pocket, take a pass and go somewhere else. Apparently this is a TriBeCa staple, but I’m not really sure wheat they’re known for other that the occasional celebrity who might stop in. All I got on the day I visited was overpriced food, a kitchen that is unwilling to customize, and wait staff that is hard to find. I came by for breakfast and was told that their bacon was world renowned– so I though I would have some pancakes and bacon. Sounds like a pretty easy to make breakfast, right? Well, it really wasn’t. See, they have a fixed number of items on the menu, most of which came with eggs which I don’t really care for. So I asked if they could do the swap the two eggs on the $ 19 griddle special(which has 2 eggs, pancake, sausage, and bacon) for a second pancake. Surely a ladle of batter is cheaper than two eggs. But no, they wouldn’t do it. So instead I had to order the 3 pancake entrée for $ 19, then pay another $ 9 for three strips of bacon. That’s $ 3 per piece– YIKES! Did I mention I didn’t want 3 pancakes? If you come here, you better have a company credit card. Else you’re just wasting your money on food that’s priced at 3 times what it should be just for the off chance that one of the celebs that lives in TriBeCa might eat there that day.

Can I give a blank rating for a restaurant? Not necessarily 0 stars, but nonexistent stars? Oh no, I tried but Unilocal forces you to choose a rating. Fine! Went to Bubby’s, put my name in, was told it would be a 30-minute wait. This place was highly recommended by a friend. So I waited, and waited, and waited. After an hour, I asked if my name was close to being called. I was ignored. Yes, the host stared at me and failed to reply. I waited some more. I asked a hostess and she said my name was coming up. Once you’ve committed to waiting this long, and taken the New York subway an hour out of your way, you don’t want to give up so easily. So I waited some more. I started noticing that people who had come in long after me were being seated. I asked again and I was ignored again. Am I trapped in an episode of the Twilight Zone? I was patient, but after nearly two hours, I gave up. I really wanted to eat here That’s a strange way to do business! Had my parents run any of their restaurants like that, they would have surely failed. Boycott Bubby’s for life!!! P. S. It’s times like these I wish I were well known reporter for the New York Times who could publicly humiliate a pathetic business like this. But alas, I’m just a regular Joe and I’m sure Bubby’s has so many customers they don’t give a darn about me.

This place is a fun country type restaurant with a bar that has a few locations in New York. The food is generous and the atmosphere is lively. During certain days and time this place can turn into a cattle call, so be ready to wait, especially a brunch on Sunday. I loved the nachos here and the vegetarian burger was also a hit. They have a varied selection and just about everything is American comfort type food. I’ve been for brunch and for dinner and have never been disappointed. Hopefully that will be the same when you try it out. I found the service to be friendly and consistent. Some items seemed a touch overpriced(I saw a note about the biscuits and agree) but definitely experiment and have a great time.

The lobster roll was amazing! Was told it sells out by early afternoon so I had to give it a try. My partner ordered pancakes that had a berry compote along side with it, very yummy. The pancakes were fat and fluffy but not too airy. Coffee was great, nice and smooth. Would come back here in a heart beat! Server was very friendly and genuinely nice.

I have come here for 15 years and just had brunch for the first time in about 4 or 5 months. I don’t know exactly what happened but everything has changed here and not for the better. They removed their famous 1890s sourdough pancakes from the brunch menu. They removed their scrapple from the brunch menu.(it was great) They have substantially reduced their hours.(used to get an early breakfast) They no longer have Anson Mills grits on the menu.(a classic) They no longer give you a small jug of real maple syrup, opting instead for a small creamer. They used to bake their own bagels and now they get them from H&H(really? H&H jumped the shark 10 years ago) Their prices were always high but I accepted them because the food was especially good. Now the prices are even higher and the food has objectively gotten worse. Also, the farmers they source from have changed and also not for the better. Finally — $ 9 for a side of bacon? Never again. I have to ask, have they changed management/ownership? What happened?

This place used to have the best pancakes in the world… Seriously. It’s an objective fact. Then they got rid of 2 amazing recipes and only have one good one left… If they bring back sourdough pancakes I’d give it 5 stars. Until then booooooooooooooooo!!! The original pancakes are worth trying though.

Solid place for brunch with a group! Went as a party of 3& were seated very comfortably. Waited for 30 minutes but were given hot cider outside to stay warm and pass the time. The eggs were fresh & coffee great! Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Service was slow, but what Sunday brunch spot is quick?

Bubby’s is a nice little restaurant, plenty of seating but tends to get very busy and crowded. In the cold winter days plan ahead since normal waiting arrangements are outside until called/texted that your table is ready. During our visit they had hot apple cider outside for all those waiting. I see this to be no problem for the warmer spring through fall months. Staff was overall very welcoming. We read good recommendations for the biscuits — served with Vermont creamery butter and jam($ 10). So we ordered this as an appetizer with coffee($ 5) — highly recommend getting the biscuits, they were an excellent starter and very tasty. For breakfast we had the«bubbys breakfast»($ 20) — served was 3 eggs, bacon, crispy potatoes, and biscuit or toast(I say get the biscuit: p) And«griddle special»($ 19) — 2 eggs, apple sausage, bacon, and 1 fluffy pancake Along with a side of crispy potatoes($ 7) Everything was cooked and prepared very well. Bacon was very good and pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Overall it was a nice experience, definitely a little n the expensive side($ 66) roughly $ 70 for breakfast but a nice, flavorful experience if you’re looking for upscale breakfast.

With a great expectation for a brunch here, I’m a little disappointed. This place is absolutely crowded so make sure you get a reservation before coming in. We had the $ 7 juice which were kinda tart, both the green one and the red beet. Biscuits were great! But $ 10 for 4 small biscuits is def too much. And the shrimp and grits– there were hardly sauce on the grits so it was very flavorless… My friend had the omelet which contains half plates of potatoes– way way too much. Server was def too busy to take care of every table. And the check came in over $ 40/person. Overall if you are looking for a great experience for brunch, it’s may not be the best place.

My husband, two friends and I stopped in here for drinks and food. The food was REALLY good! The mac and cheese was, well, it was soooo creamy and tasty and packed full of flavor! The biscuits… aaaahhhh…the biscuits. ORDERTHEBISCUITS! DOIT N.O.W!!! The service could have been better. We are a fun bunch and friendly with most everyone. Our server just seemed to be mailing in her time with us, and really wasn’t having us. Maybe we were just too fun for her. I get that she’s a server, and it’s probably«just a job», but as a customer, it sucks to know that your server really doesn’t want to be there. To be a bit more pleasant could have gone a long way. I’d return to Bubby’s but would hope for a different server.

Went to Bubby’s this past weekend while visiting NYC. I had zero expectations because it was selected by a larger group none of whom live in NYC but this was a yummy brunch spot. They poured the perfect morning cocktails — just a splash of OJ! It was super busy and packed by the bar but the staff was courteous and fast. I ordered the matzo ball soup and have been craving since Saturday hence the entire reason why I am writing this review. Best matzo ball soup I have ever had!!! I also ordered Bubby’s BBQ Benedict which was hearty and enough to feed 2 people. The pork was perfectly cooked and so were the poached eggs. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned nicely and crispy. We had a table of 7 people and everyone enjoyed their food and loved the pickle Bloody Marys I am giving only 4 stars because the wait was extended because the hostess wrote down what looked like a 2 instead of a 7 which confused the other girl and we had to wait an extra 20mins.

Bubbys have two locations and I like them both. This one is Much easier to get a table at but the other one is more beautiful(if that’s a word to describe a place like this;)). Been here several times for breakfast/brunch. They have a small bar and serves great mimosas. Coffe is great. But the best thing ever is their English muffins!!! They used to come two in a basket with a side of jam. They where huge! And lovely!!! Sorry to say that they have changed that concept and now serves three smaller ones. Still a lot of yum but not as large and moist as they used to be… Please change it back!!! Eggs Benedict is amazing. Comes with a salad. Hamburger is also great with nice flavor and fries. Blubber pancakes are lovely and enough for two:) Love this place but it gets a 4 because of the muffins…:(

This place had very good service. The waitress was amazing and was a great help in recommending what food was good here. We ordered the shrimp tacos, corn and the pit barbque of ribs and brisket with coleslaw and broccoli. The ribs were very soft and fell right off the bone and the brisket was flavored well. The shrimp tacos were as well especially that sauce.

This was(as Unilocal says) a-ok. Fast, noisy and buzzy, atmosphere would get 4 stars. Brunch was ok, admittedly I’m no expert on pancakes but they were tasty if a little heavy, and the compote certainly had a taste of pre-made about it. Check for 2 was around $ 70 without alcohol, not cheap, not expensive. I’d come back as part of a group, for the atmosphere but not the food.

Bubby’s reminded me right away of a revamped Cracker Barrel, and for anyone who knows me, I love me some Cracker Barrel. When you first walk in, the bar to your right looks very inviting if you’re there to get some famous breakfast liquid treats, like mimosas and Bloody Mary’s. Tip: If you’re asked if you want to sit in the dining room or in the smaller room, pick the smaller room. The turn around is much quicker, especially if you’re a party of four or less; we happened to just be two. We were seated as walk-ins in about 5 – 7 minutes on a Sunday morning around noon — seriously — we walked right in practically! We started with coffees, and their mugs are absolutely random and awesome all at the same time! Which one will you get? To start, my brunch-y friend recommended their biscuits We both decided on the Griddle Special, since I sadly couldn’t remember the last time I had some worthy pancakes. Don’t fill up on the coffee or you’ll be really sad you didn’t finish. The pancakes absorbed the syrup like a sponge, and we had to track down any waiter to get more. Do yourself a favor — ask for three right up front when you order so you’ll be set. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and I had the smoked ham, and that was the winner over my friend’s chorizo. Next time, I will go for either the pancakes or the eggs or skip the biscuits in the beginning all together, and not both; it was just way too much for me– and I can totally eat. I would come again and totally further explore their ever changing seasonal menu.

Came here with a group just for dessert since my friend had said how good the pie was. The server was really nice about it. Unfortunately they were out of the Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie. My friend got a slice of the Michigan Sour Cherry($ 8) with ice cream. It was served warm and was the perfect combo with the vanilla ice cream. I ordered a slice of the banoffee pie that had banana, toffee, and an amazing crunchy graham cracker crust. It was delicious and super decadent but I wish there was less whipped cream and more toffee.

We continue to come back here when the crowd is light. The food is a strong attraction. High quality improvisations on classic comfort food and basic dishes. For example, the huevos rancheros were very good with eggs cooked just right and a nice side of beans and green rice. I wouldn’t call it «authentic Mex» but that is not their intention… it just happens to be prepared really well. Fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juices were excellent. I finished Mrs G’s pancakes served with real maple syrup. It does get a crowd — often families with little ones — and it can be loud.
