Last Sunday I had their grilled chicken sandwich with pesto and mozzarella. I commented to my friend, who’s a regular, that the ingredients were top notch. He told me that they get their bread from Balthazar. Who knew? I’m adding Bread and CO to my recommendation list.

Things here aren’t terrible, but that’s probably the most positive thing I can say. The sandwich makers seemed annoyed at us. There was one other group sitting and eating in the place, so they weren’t busy at all. But, they just kind of grunted and pointed. I understand if there’s a language barrier, but body language also conveys how little you care to engage in human interaction. The coffee was alright — basic and not that exciting. I had a sandwich that seemed like it was a weird pile of random ingredients. I enjoyed it, but the way it was made was haphazard and not at all balanced. Like, if someone is making me a sandwich, I want them to do a better job than just slopping little bits of each ingredient into the bread. All in all, between the gruff nature and unremarkable food, I don’t recommend this place. But, if you are in the area and need something, you won’t go hungry. Like I said, nothing is terrible, just unpleasant.

HORRIBLE service. The lady at the counter was awfully rude when she had to merely cancel my transaction for a drink that I did not know cost $ 11! I had a sandwich and a drink. She said total was $ 21! When I said to please cancel the expensive drink– she made a face and said she asked me already. I’m apalled at the service and how rude she was. After all that– the food didn’t even taste good at all! Very below average. WOULDNEVERGOBACKTHERE.

I enjoy this spot! Where did it come from! Fresh food, fresh ingredients. Delicious grilled chicken additions to various salad combinations. I love the Kale parmesan chicken salad… I have it often with their lemon vinaigrette which I found out is made with fresh squeezed lemons and olive oil. I’m a breakfast guy and in NYC its always great to get authentic omelets with fresh ingredients(not that fake eggs or premade stuff some places warm up!!) I also enjoy their yogurt cups… Greek yogurt fruit and peanut butter. I love protein! High quality stuff. Right on the corner of Madison, not that far from 5th. Really nothing around like it. Especially when you consider that there’s no place, in that area of NYC at least, where you can custom order your salad, omelette or sandwich at lunch rush! To be appreciated. If you want less dressing, more dressing, dressing on the side, they will do it.

The owner of this Bread & Company is a thief. He himself writes the price of whatever item you’ve ordered, and he always over charges, without fail. I would urge everyone to check the price of their items and complain if incorrect!

After having a gross salad from here a few months ago, I decided to go back, not being one for grudges. Well, there goes another $ 10 salad in the garbage. The lettuce tasted like chemicals, which gave me flash backs to the last time I had a salad from there. The chicken was such low quality scraps that you bite down and wonder, what the F*%* is this. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Repulsive.

Wow… so much B & Co. animosity. Who knew? Well, I’ll say this: I’ve eaten here a ton and the food has always been fresh, good, and never bad enough to ward me off. It’s one of the few affordable places to get food that doesn’t make you want to fall asleep or walk away with a grease headache. Their pickled beet sandwich(E92) is great, and their salad bar is respectable and cheaper than other close options. While I agree the service can be terse, I’ve never thought it was rude – definitely not as bad as many other places in the area. My recommendation to you: don’t go on weekdays between 12−1pm, and know what you’re ordering before you walk up to the counter. My recommendation to B & Co.: get more vegetarian options, or at least bulk up the existing ones – tomato and cheese does not a feature sammy item make.

I came here cause it was the closest place that served hot breakfast and I was about to die if I didn’t eat. I got the spinach omelette(which has tomatoes & mushroom). It was probably one of the worst omelettes I’ve ever had… luckily back in the office we had Tabasco sauce which I drowned it in.

We order from B&C on a daily basis without any improvement on delivery time. The«Estimated Delivery Time» states 30 – 45 minutes, however, rarely does it arrive in less than an hour and fifteen minutes. When I have phoned inquiring about the eta, I’m met with rude response and hung up on. I’m surprised that they still have such business after their lack of customer service. The only reason they get one star from me is because of the food.

Horrific service. Disgruntled employees. I visited one time last summer and clearly saw on the price list that my sandwich was $ 6.95. The sandwich maker wrote $ 7.95 and when I tried to correct him, he said it’s only a dollar diference, just pay for it. I said uh no, keep your sandwich, and walked out. Then on 3÷14÷14 I called to find out about their green juices for my office’s event. The woman(I think it was Jessica?) hardly offered details and sounded like she could care less if I gave them the business or not. Luckliy Jamba Juice called me in time, and I ordered from there.

I made the mistake of trying this place while hurrying back to the office after a manicure gone long. I wish I had taken a minute to check the reviews. After standing around for several minutes with a couple other customers being ignored(the place was practically empty at 1:45) I was finally allowed to order my salad. Service was so unfriendly they seemed annoyed by the presence of customers. The salad guy managed to be out of avocado. According to the salad guy/cashier that $ 4.954-topping chopped salad advertised all over the walls actually means $ 6.95 +tax for me. My 4 toppings weren’t premium, I didn’t even include any meat! And no they can’t chop it. And I was given 9 nickels in change. When I asked for quarters or dimes, shocker answer — no we’re out! Just don’t go — any average deli in the area is so much better!

2 Stars feel a little low for me, in terms of a rating, but to me, this place is just OK. I’ve had better, but with that said, I like this place, but it’s definitely not an everyday thing for me. A bit pricey for Deli sandwiches. The sandwiches are good, I personalize mine, but it’s weird to me that they don’t have BBQ sauce… lol Really? No BBQ sauce? C’MONMAAAANNNNN.

I wanted to like this place because it’s close to work, but they have really terrible service! The guys who prepare your food are not friendly at all. They seem annoyed when you ask them for anything. I ordered an omelette with avocado. I can’t believe they actually served me an avocado that should have been thrown out! There are many other options in this part of town — Don’t go here!

Your standard Bread & Company, just like the one on 42nd/Madison. Pretty much just a cleaner deli place mainly for fast breakfast and lunch. I have been to both places as I work in midtown area. As one of my co-workers used to say, «constantly over charging, poor service, I’d never go there». Their workers at the salad bar not only speak poor english, but also give shetty attitude, «WHATELSE? NEXT!» are what I’d always hear… and also«WEDON’T HAVETHISTODAY, WEDON’T HAVETHATTODAY»…then freaking get rid them on your menu if customers are asking for it regularly for god sake… I was in need for a quick bite and came in for a make-your-own-salad…no turkey… no beef… glad they still had chicken…

Still new to Manhattan and looking to find the right morning coffee place — the first couple of times I came in here they had run out of this n that. I just finally tried a chocolate croissant and caffe mocha — the latter was actually quite decent!

Don’t waste your time. The food is overpriced and bland. Service is terrible, either they are ignoring you or are just to busy talking to coworkers to care. There are much better places for lunch in the area.

This place is AWFUL — the service is beyond slow, my toasted bagel with cream cheese was made three times before they got it right(I have no idea how you can screw up the most basic order), the bagel itself was absolutely awful even though it’s NYC, which always bothers me and they are way overpriced. Skip this place and head to any of the other dozens breakfast spots that are in a two block radius.

Decent food, decent coffees, decent salads. Pretty much a decent place, but definitely nothing exciting. 2-stars isn’t to say its not a fine place to have lunch, its just that there are plenty of other places to check out. By the way, I warmly refer to this place as «Bread and Ompany», as the«C» in «company» on the hanging sign outside has been missing for the 5+ years I’ve been walking by the place.

Salads –delicious, good quality ingredients –impatient salad makers(i panicked and ordered a cobb salad b/c i could feel his eyes burning a hole in my head as i struggled to decide what toppings i wanted) –too much dressing(he put so much dressing on, totally defeated the purpose of eating a salad… will have to make sure i ask for dressing on the side next time) Coffee –solid, i prefer illy(the brand they serve here) to starbucks(next door) Dessert –whimsy & spice baked goods are dangerous! i tried the hazelnut whisky sandwich cookies(b/c a. i love hazelnut and b. i love whisky) and they are to die for! the brownies looked soft and rich… it’s going to be hard to do low-carb with these goodies around…

Some days, you just want to sip a refreshing smoothie! Been here a few times on afternoon breaks. «Freshly» made fruit smoothies are blended in the morning and sit on a semi-iced platter all day. I’d rather get a coffee from ING’s Peet’s across the street — it’s cheaper! Low rating also due to cashier with a bad attitude. No thanks!
