Local wine bar that boasts an impressive female trifecta: chef, sommelier, and beer director. Impressive, engaging staff all-around that always makes it a joy to come in. The service consistently maintains high standards, making it clear that management is effective and hands-on. Creative cocktails, imaginative menu, and solid wine list. The delightful(and free) bar snacks offered at Happy Hour is evidence that this place cares about its customers and wants them to experience the Chef’s culinary arsenal. Hard to find gems like this in Midtown East, particularly at such a busy intersection. Bottle & Bine never disappoints, and is a consistent neighborhood favorite.

This is the best kept secret in NYC, not just this neighborhood. The chef is outstanding and there should be a line out the door. Every dish is perfect, been here for dinner twice now and will definitely be back. The food as well as cocktails are all exquisite, everything has been carefully crafted, no shortcuts. Don’t skip the warm Parker rolls. They’re worth paying for. Order right when you sit down, they take 10 minutes. You won’t be sorry.

I came here to ring in the weekend with friends. Bottle and Bine didn’t disappoint! Pros, no cons: — Great wine selection(glass and bottle) — Nice décor and I loved that the bar downstairs had a loud happy hour feel while upstairs was a bit more quaint — Impressive service; the waiter was able to walk us through some of his favorites and recommend wines and dishes based on our preferences — The food was absolutely amazing! I literally demolished my plate but it was the perfect portion. The short rib was so tender, not too fatty and not dry at all. The root vegetables and grits were a great complement to the meat. My friend’s salmon was delicious too — I had to take a bite. I’m adding Bottle and Bine to my list of go-tos for drinks with friends or intimate catch-up dinners. I walked away very happy and look forward to my next visit.

I love around the corner. Second time here, first review. Took my visiting in-laws here. Dinner was really really good. Hanger steak tasted like a filet while the trout was not fishy at all. Luke the waiter was a good dude, super attentive and extremely courteous. Prices were fair and availability was good. Definitely coming back. Cheers

There’s a reason this place is 4.5 stars. Service was fantastic(they let me try two different beers). It’s intimate, dark, and romantic. Music is fantastic and the food is even better. This place sets the bar for a perfect place to take someone you care about. Shoutout to Emily D for being the best waitress ever!

OK so we’re from the West Coast and we know a good wine bar when we see it. But even by West Coast standards this place was a total gem. Tucked away, lovely service, knowledgeable wine recommendations. And the food was simply delicious!

I’m giving them five stars because they knocked it out the park with everything! The décor is warm and cozy yet sexy. Really beautiful. The service was wonderful. the staff was knowledgable on everything. The sommelier was such a pleasure — they have a very well thought out wine selection that compliments the food so well. And ohhhh the food! My gosh this place is one of those places you need to visit over and over because you’ll want to try everything on the menu. — beef tartare, tuna, chicken live and squid — branzino & halibut If you have the chicken liver I highly recommend you try it with their beer pairing suggestion — simply divine! The Branzino was perfection. I loved everything about that dish. Everything was really wonderful. They make you feel right at home. The dishes are so beautifully presented and equally delicious. This is one of those places that offers so much. Meet a friend at the bar to chat over light food and wine or put on a great dress and make it a date night. I believe they have a tasting menu as well as a la carte. Oh and their brunch menu looks impressive. I’ll be going back for brunch for sure!

KenScale: 8.0÷10 Midtown East, a neighborhood that I wouldn’t have lived if not for the proximity to my work, is really a desolate place when it comes to serious food. Most of my restaurant trips are definitely concentrated south of my neighborhood, and I hardly venture to any restaurants here. Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn have far more superior restaurants given those are the areas that tend to attract the younger and more selective crowds. When a trio of women(one a chef, another a sommelier and the other a beer curator) opened a new restaurant near the border between Midtown East and Upper East Side, I debated for a long time whether I should check it out. As the name suggests, it seemed more like a bar that serves nice collections of beer and wine than a serious restaurant. Of course, having good collection of wine has been instrumental in enhancing my dining experience, but it wasn’t quite essential either. On my recent visit for dinner, however, I found a lot of pleasant surprise at this place in the food department as well. The menu at Bottle and Bine is New American with some Southern bent, consisting of three levels(two for appetizers and the other for main dishes). While I’ve been to too many New American restaurants in the city already, there was something about Bottle and Bine that still offered fresh perspective to cooking. While local tuna with nori mustard and mushrooms was somewhat pedestrian(I thought the texture of the fish was a bit too mushy), I absolutely enjoyed shellfish and stems, a combination of sea scallop, squid and citrus sabayon. The sea scallop was expertly cooked, and the combination with the vegetables worked beautifully together to create very nice balance of flavor and texture. For the main dishes, my dining companion and I tried beet dumplings and braised pork. I thought the latter was slightly more successful, as the pork had nice texture and worked quite well with black radish. My only issue was that the shell wrapping the pork, which was supposed to consist of Carolina rice and uni, didn’t taste either of the ingredients. Beet dumplings were solid too, with silky smooth texture and accompanied by caramelized cabbage purée and roasted beets. For dessert, panna cotta with tarragon and 7-grain crumble was a winner, with delicate flavor without being overly sweet. I can tell the kitchen put together ambitious but not overly fussy dishes that won’t wow you with strong, decadent flavor but still leave you satisfied at the end of your meal. Getting a reservation was easy, and even though I came to visit this place on a Monday evening, I was still surprised that the dining space, located on the second floor(the bar area is on the first floor), was almost empty. Compared to the quality at other places in the vicinity, I thought this place was one of the better ones so perhaps it’s just a Monday factor or they haven’t done enough advertising? As the name of the restaurant suggests, you should try at least a glass or two of wine or beer. I’m not a beer person so I can’t honestly say what their beer selection is like, but a couple of wine glasses that I had were pleasant and worked well with the dishes that I had tried. It is nice to find a gem like Bottle and Bine in my neighborhood, which is hard to come by, and I’m looking forward to seeing how their kitchen evolves over time.

Great service — we ordered the 2 tasting menus and a side of cheddar grits and the cheddar grits were our favorite. The tuna was a little too salty, the scallops were good, the wagu beef was ok — they also kept running out of the beers that we wanted which was disappointing

I’ve come to Bottle & Bine a few times over the past several weeks. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly, welcoming, and accommodating at the beginning when the restaurant was still only a few weeks old, though over the course of the last several weeks they have fallen into more typical service levels: still great but no longer as extremely exceptional as before. Dishes I’ve had so far range from good to great. I recommend the Shellfish & Stems and the Razor Clams.

Came here with a friend for a birthday celebration. GORGEOUS décor, and it wasn’t too noisy. We came at 10pm for drinks but decided to get food too. It was a great decision! Portions were on the gourmet(aka small) side, but hostess is very friendly and helped us navigate the menu. Menu layout was interesting: it was sectioned as «one, two, three» for raw bar, appetizers, and entrees(forgot the order). Drinks wise, my favorite beer of the night was the Oatmeal Stout! What we ordered: –Tuna(from raw bar); it was so yummy! very flavorful pairing of mustard with mushrooms and raw tuna. –Pan seared sea trout: it’s basically salmon. It was really tender and delicious, but if you were expecting trout, you won’t get it! There’s trout roe as garnish though. –Short ribs: OMG these were REALLY yummy. Definitely highly recommended. Service was very attentive and I loved the 2nd floor seats by the window. There’s an entire bar section downstairs and then another smaller bar on 2nd floor for seating.

The food is out of this world! Perfectly portioned and well balanced flavored in every dish! I had the mousse & short ribs and feel pleasantly full. Beverage program is on point & the service was perfect-not at all pushy, excellent recommendations and friendly & welcoming without being pretentious(Corey, Art & Yoni). I’ll def be bringing friends & family back when they visit nyc!

Very cute wine and beer bar/restaurant with an inviting warm, cozy ambiance and outstanding welcoming service. Would be a great place for a date. Downstairs is a bar area and upstairs is a dining room area. We sat at the bar. It was a long tough day working on finalizing some things that I joked with my friend seemed to last«forever» and I was feeling spent. The bartenders’ personality and friendly service were perfect after a long day, recommendations were on point, and the ambiance was chill, warm and relaxing. I asked shouldn’t I have a wine since it’s a wine bar, and the bartender said it’s a wine and beer bar(thus bottle and bine) pointing out they they have a selection of some interestingly named frequently changed beers on tap. I told her what I liked and she suggested the perfect beer. Funnily and coincidentally named«forever…» I laughed with my friend and said«really? No, please, never forever… nothing lasts forever.» I needed a snack the bartender recommended the fries and brussel sprouts — both great. They were so friendly, the hostess and bar staff. The next day I realized my makeup bag fell from my bag and when I called they had it set aside and kept it safe for me for a couple days until I could return to pick it up. Again both people when I called about my bag were so friendly. When I picked it up I took a look upstairs — very cute and great for a date. When I approached the bar to thank the bartender for her wonderful service, I mentioned the beer«forever» I had, and they said they didn’t have that anymore. Ha, I called it: never forever. Highly recommend for wine, beer, food and outstanding warm and friendly service with friends, or even better with a date.

Came by for lunch and was pleasantly impressed with the service from the first«hello»… They know they’re in the service business and behave accordingly. Small victory for mankind! On to the food… I was by myself and decided it had been a while since my last burger. So what the heck! I went for the burger and it was amazing! I asked my server and he went to great lengths to explain the work that goes into the patty; created by their chef(former Mandarin Oriental). Will definitively be back with friends!

Came here for lunch on a Monday, President’s Day to be exact and really hoped for the lunch menu but due to the holiday weekend the brunch menu spilled over to Monday. I was slightly disappointed about it since there were things I had seen on the lunch menu that I was interested in and I had already had breakfast that morning so the brunch items weren’t that appealing to me… luckily they had other things to choose from, but just had hoped for a true lunch menu. Anyway…I opted for the burger and it was PERFECT. Cooked to order, great bun, and toppings, really enjoyed the flavorful sauce on top as well. The fries were yummy as well, super small almost shoe string style. Crisp and crunchy and flavorful. Really enjoyed it Our server was attentive and nice and made our meal a great one. I definitely would be back to try dinner and some of their cocktails that looked really tasty as well.

A casual alternative to the usual upscale restaurant scene here in the city: dark wood, exposed brick wall, dim lighting, menu design straight out of a Brooklyn joint, and apothecary-inspired soaps stocked in the bathroom. You come here to relax and have a good time. Personally, Bottle and Bine feels reminiscent of some joints found in Philladelphia. Bottle and Bine is 2-level. Downstairs has simple L-shaped bar with high stools taken over by casual and solo eaters all watching sports as a group on the television screen. Upstairs is a cozy space filled with intimate seating arrangements for the more serious diners. Recommendations(favorites/non-negotiables starred*) 1) Razor Clams(Seaweed Pesto, Lime)* 2) Local Tuna(Nori Mustard, Mushrooms) 3) Truffle Fondue* 4) Shellfish and Stems(Fregola, Citrus Sabyaon, Squid)** 5) Chicken Liver Mousse(Toasted Hazelnuts, Red Cabbage, Currants)* 6) Venison(Creamy Coco Beans, Peppercorn, Bitter Chocolate)* 7) Beet Dumplings(Carmelized Cabbage Purée, Roasted Beets) 8) Thyme Ice Cream If I’m ever back, I’m re-ordering the Shellfish and Stems(a dish comprised of chopped stems of swiss chard, tarragon, and others mixed in over a motley of shellfish, squid, and scallop all finished with a white wine reduction. oh, and a handful of pasta fregola that adds a great texture to the whole thing). It’s bright and straight to the point. Apparently, the Chef’s favorite too, so definitely worth a first try. Perhaps it’s because Bottle & Bine is still relatively new, but the service is exceptional. Every working server takes responsibility for you. Every other review seems to rave about the service too, so perhaps you’ll experience the same.

Review for 1÷28÷16 Had a wonderful night at Bottle & Bine! In an area that’s just a bit set apart from the good selection of bars and restaurants on 2nd avenue in the low 50s, this is such a welcome addition. Both my aunt and I are no stranger to the NYC restaurant scene and Bottle & Bine really blew us away. When we walked in the 2 hostesses were so friendly, without being nosy or annoying, and really made us feel welcome. The décor is lovely and cozy without feeling like every other rustic designed restaurant in the city. Our server was also very sweet and attentive. Our cocktails were delicious and the wine we followed them with also great. All of this would’ve made this a great place in my book, and the food just put it over the top. We shared the Tuna appetizer and the Little Gem lettuces, both of which were great. The tuna was so fresh and the buttermilk dressing on the salad was maybe the best I’ve had. Also the purple potatoes on the salad were the best potatoes I’ve tasted, slightly sweet and cooked perfectly. For my entrée I had the beet dumplings, which I loved. I love beets and so the fresh ones that accompanied the dumplings were a good touch, and the dumplings themselves were different but delicious. My aunt who doesn’t like beets at all even liked them. She had the short rib, which was falling off the bone and also looked amazing. Overall we had a great experience and can’t wait to be back. Definitely going to be our go-to spot for drinks and dinner!

Good food, great location(next to our home) and awesome service. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing. Each course was the right size(not too much nor too little)

I enjoyed this place very much. My level of joy could be described as somewhere between a happy ending massage and finding money in the street. The short ribs were tender and delicious, the chicken liver pâté was flavorful, and my beet salad was delicious as well. Although we did not sample the wine list, they appeared to have a robust selection of both beer and wine. My date was able to find something on the menu to accommodate her gluten sensitivity, if that’s a priority. Unfortunately, I am only in New York a few times per year, so I will have to wait to return to this wonderful new mid-town stop.

I ate here a few weeks ago while visiting the city, and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. I’m vegetarian, so I was initially worried about my options; however, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the poached egg with risotto, and it was mouthwatering and delicious. I hope to return to this restaurant next time I’m in the area.
