Back in the early 2000’s this place was great. Now? The food has gone way downhill. Oh, and I walked by it today and they are putting everything in a dumpster so it looks like it’s been closed. Hopefully something decent takes its place.

I am a big endorser of getting to know your host. The outside is very unassuming almost unapproachable. But when you walk in. It’s a different atmosphere. Enjoy there Brunch special, that is all i have eaten so far. but will come BACK

This is a a good restaurant. The food is good, the service is not so good. It’s a nice place to socialize, and the bar is ok. I don’t go there much, but it is very popular in the neighborhood. There is also an outside dining area in the back during warm weather.

I was unimpressed by my experience at Bleu. The food was good, but Italian food is pretty hard to mess up, right? I had ravioli in a cream sauce which was pretty good, but again… it’s pasta in a cream sauce, it will always be good. My boyfriend had teriyaki chicken and thought it was okay. The fact that I can’t even remember what dishes I got shows how unmemorable the food was! The décor was very interesting and cool, very weird music but definitely was an «experience.» The staff was perfectly nice. The cocktails were also a miss… the cosmos were overly sweet, and the bourbon martini was overly dry. I definitely feel we overpaid for what we got. It was a perfectly fine place, but with all the other knock-outs in the neighborhood, I won’t be back.

The décor is a bit bizarre, and the food is hit or miss. But the happy hour drink specials are worth it, and you can enjoy waiting for some waiter to tumble into the pit of sarlacc behind the bar. One turn off: often when the bartender makes a froofy looking drink, the manager and others will come and dip in a straw for a taste(like you would for a baby, where you hold your finger over the end…). They’re not double dipping or anything, but it’s still a bit creepy. I only order beer here, so it doesn’t bother me too much, though I’d send my drink back if I saw them do it to mine.

Sounds great !

Basically, brunch used to be very good, now it’s bad. I live in the neighborhood and had brunch at Bleu yesterday after not having eaten there in a while. I ordered a lightly toasted bagel with lox: cold, hard bagel, bad lox and barely any cream cheese. One of my friends ordered Eggs Benedict which was cold. Both friends entrees came with home fries and both complained of the meager serving size. The clueless waiter basically told us that that’s the way it is — too bad. Service was quite slow. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that there wasn’t one — that the manager doesn’t work on Sundays. Huh? This used to be such a great place for brunch but it’s really deteriorated on all counts.

The food here can be really good on most days, but like in life there are some days when the food isn’t as good as it usually is. I recommend coming here and having the brunch special, it is a really good deal. I also recommend coming for dinner, a bit more expensive but worth it. Try the lamb shank and the potato croquet, delicious!!!

This place always a mildew smell, probably from the damp swags of fabric everywhere intended to look«eclectic». My Hubby purchased a Groupon to dine here, which they refused to honor before its expiration date, blaming ignorance of it and the manager wasn’t there. We tried to return on 3÷30÷13 after reconfirming with Groupon it was definitely valid. By this time the promotional value was expired, but it stated right on the website that the paid value would never expire. The manager WAS there this time and again REFUSEDTOHONOR the paid value. He tried to convince us that we needed to pay for the meal there and Groupon would reimburse… yeah, right. After we told him that it had already been confirmed by Groupon, he told us that there was no way to verify it was legitimate. Um, the certificate number is right on the certificate? He just needs to give it to Groupon? He next tried to tell us that since the promotion expired, he deleted all the certificate numbers… and how is that OUR problem? He told us that he would offer us 20% discount on the restaurant in exchange. Um, no, we had ALREADYPAID money, and now expect to redeem the funds we paid. He claimed that Groupon didn’t give any money so therefore we didn’t… Except for some old, creepy types drinking, there were barely any diners on a Saturday night(compared to the Mexican restaurant around the corner which was completely full). If this is how they treat customers, I can’t imagine how bad or dangerous(they were«missing» their Health Grade on the window) the food is.

Great, cozy neighborhood gem. Fresh food, good wine selections. A tad pricey but worth the occasional indulgence. Recommend the Seafood Diavolo and of course you must try their hazelnut cappuccino with pecan pie for dessert. Delish!

I had to write this review after trying this place for the first time. I have not tried their dinner menu, and I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt that they just had a bad day(based on other reviews here), but based purely on my own experience I at brunch I’m not sure I’d be willing to give this place another try. The outdoor section does make for a very nice setting, and despite the odd mish-mash of decorations my gf and I had high expectations. She ordered the mushroom and asparagus omelette while I ordered the blueberry pancakes. Simple dishes, fitting our mood of the moment. I’m admittedly a bit of a coffee prude, so it wasn’t too surprising that I wasn’t a fan of their coffee. While it had good dark color, that was tempered by a surprisingly unflavorful roast; I don’t know if they use instant coffee, or just old beans that lack any flavor. I know this seems harsh, and again I’d be willing to concede I have larger expectations from most others — however my gf doesn’t really care about the quality of her coffee and she was the first to complain about its lack of flavor. Our food arrived, and they do present a pretty plate. We were a bit put off, however, in realizing that my blueberry pancakes were actually plain pancakes with a ramekin of blueberries served on the side. Any rational person would have expected them cooked into the pancakes. I could have forgiven this if the pancakes themselves had any flavor at all, and weren’t cold when they arrived. I also wasn’t thrilled tasting alcohol in the blueberries, I’m guessing a brandy from the flavor; if you’re going to serve brandied berries, it would be helpful to mention that on the menu in case the diner wasn’t in the mood for that specific flavor. Topping off my meal: I had to ask for a room temperature syrup because they served it to me straight out the fridge, and I personally do not want cold syrup on my food. Over to my gf’s meal. First: I can say that the flavor of the egg and vegetables was tasty. However, it was again disappointing to realize that what they’d given her was a plain omelette which, after being plated, was then covered with the sauteed vegetables and then folded — much like a taco. Our expectation was, again naturally, of the omelette with the ingredients cooked into the egg, adding flavor to the overall dish. And, of course, the ketchup served with it(not that we used it) was also cold from the fridge. Obviously others here have had a much better experience than we did. Or the mimosas were free-flowing and colored their judgment ;) But I don’t think we’ll be coming back for the Bleu Experience, at least not for brunch anytime soon.

Home made pasta? Yes please!!! Small, private place with a bar as well. The décor is different but pleasing. Did I mention the pasta?

I always passed this place and assumed, based on its odd signage a blue lighting scheme, that it was some sort of tacky neighborhood nightclub. Luckily, I ran across a favorable review of Bleu on a random Hudson Heights community website(Google takes me to odd places) and decided to give it a shot. I’m very glad I did! Fresh pasta, delicious sauce, cold beer… I can’t ask for more. It was raining the day I went, so we couldn’t sit outside, but I’ll definitely come back on a nicer day to enjoy it. There aren’t many places in The Heights to eat outdoors! Anyway, the bottom line is this: good food, good service, comfortable atmosphere. No complaints.

Brunch on a Sunday in Washington Heights with a delightful friend was divine. My Croque Monsieur with Fries at $ 8.50 were flavor able and my friend’s Grilled Steak Sandwich at $ 8.50 was very inviting. The ambiance is very inviting with a whimsical charm of red velvet curtains, chandeliers, and art work in museum size to adorn the wall which draws couples for a sweet date. A Prix Fixe brunch at $ 14.50 is on the menu for mostly Eggs Benedict. Facilities are clean with a bureau chest for the added homelike feel as well as a resting place for personal belongings. No comment on drinks as I did not intake any, but thru the grapevine they are noted for upper level pricey yet good quality. Service is somewhat attentive as our waiter was cordial but not ecstatically eager in his description or body language when inquiring what poached eggs were and the difference of Croque Monsieur vs. Croque Madame. Surely, I would return for dinner or drinks to cultivate this evolution. Bleu Evolution is within walking distance of Fort Tryon Park. A garden is open in the warm weather.

This place has been around for quite some time… so I guess they must be doing something right. I came here mid-week for lunch. The place was pretty dead(I always see it packed at night). The lunch was good, I had some kind of grilled chicken sandwich, it was yummy. The service was good. The place does look a bit outdated, maybe it’s one of those places thats meant to be seen(or not be seen) at night. I felt like I was in some weird desert oasis in the 1930’s… didn’t affect my food, but just saying. I heard this place has a good brunch on weekends, so I might try that next time.

My husband and I had our brunch wedding reception at Bleu Evolution because it is the only restaurant in Washington Heights we really enjoy dining at. All of our guests raved about how good the food was~Julio and his crew really came through for our party. People especially commented on how nice the poached eggs were. My favorite was the duck hash. Bleu made our wedding cake~carrot cake, no walnuts~and everyone loved it, even my chef husband. The cake was moist, but not too dense. The frosting was light and whipped and delicate. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the garden is charming. The waitstaff is alway fast, friendly and accomodating. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Have the sangria!

I had a really enjoyable brunch here. Got the duck hash with 2 poached eggs. Couldn’t ask for anything more, really. The eggs were great, the duck confit was delicious, the potatoes were tasty. Everything was exactly as I expected it. Got a bloody mary that was good but not amazing(as there are places in the city that truly excel at the art of Bloody Maries). And the whole thing was $ 16. Check it out… probably the best brunch place in the neighborhood.

For the area, this place is great. The first thing you notice that its a bit gaudy but warm as well. Kinda like you were in a eccentric New Orleans Fortune tellers place. So lots of knicknacks on the walls and deep colors, velvet curtains and stuff. They had a nice stone patio and the back but it was too cold. Anyway had brunch there. It was well prepared, moderately priced and tasty. I liked it especially because its really good for the restaurants in the areaand a bit more unique. Its a great location(take the A train to avaoid the hike up the stairs) But I would recommend it. Its cute and looking to move in the area I would be a favourite of mine quick. I need to head back to try out their dinner/lunch menu tho.

Great décor but food is just«ok». I had the quiche of the day, which was ham and cheddar. It was bland, barely had any cheddar and when I cut into it water kept coming out! This came with greens, which had hardly any dressing at all. My husband had the tuna salad sandwich and said it was alright. I’ve been here a few times for both brunch and dinner, but have never really been impressed.
