Unique bar! If you want to go somewhere different, I recommend coming here. My friend and I went on a Saturday night at midnight and had to wait in line for 10 – 15 minutes. We were the only girls in line at that point. Inside there’s a separate room for concerts and then a bar area with the skateboard ramp. It was nice to grab a drink and walk around and watch the people skateboarding, rather than just sit in the same spot all night.

Place is really cool. The skate ramp is awesome, great beer selection. Venue is really cool. Great vibe. I have been here twice now for shows, both were really great. Saw Skinny Lister here and The Bridge & Tunnel Crowd and both had an amazing atmosphere. I even signed up to be a bone marrow donor here. So awesome! I work and have a lot of family in the food services industry so I know both sides of restaurant so take it from me when I say this place is cool. However, the only thing that was upsetting about my experience is the way a bartender treated my friends, my roommate, and his sister. Cursing at a patron because of a tip is something you should never have to experience and is not cool! I hope management addresses this issue because it upset a lot of people we were with and it was something that cause us to leave the bar. It was especially upsetting because one of the those people just played a show here that was awesome! Idk anything about the Neo-Nazi agenda, but that is not something you can give a bar a one star for as this does violate the review guidelines by providing biased options. Not condoning the bar hosting Nazi, I don’t agree with them doing that at all. I just hate internet trolls. =)

I don’t really use Unilocal other than to look at reviews and decide whether to go to a restaurant or bar but I saw these recent reviews on Unilocal and Facebook and felt the need to step in. I have been a regular at Lone Wolf and come to Black Bear whenever I am in Williamsburg and can unequivocally say that both Jess the owner and the bartenders that work for her are some of the kindest, most inclusive people I’ve encountered in the industry. I come back to her bars both for the diversity of people I meet and become friends with — and the welcoming nature of everyone who works here. If anything happened I honestly to my bones believe that it was an honest mistake that’s attempting to be rectified — despite the Internet jury that’s determined to bring these places down. Go to her bars, hang out, talk to the bartenders, and you’ll see it’s an amazing group of people that just want everyone to have an awesome time no matter who you are or where you come from. You’ll be welcome I promise.

I’d love to give more stars because the concept is so cool. Skateboard ramp plus bar. But the bartender was so awful, rude and slow I can’t.

By far one of my favorite venues to perform and visit at whenever there are things going on. Since I started performing again this is still the best venue I have ever been to and the atmosphere is incredible.

Very bad experience. Watered down drinks, discriminatory practices… not like it once was.

The conecept of this«bar» is what really draws me in. Props to BK for having this in their area! Its awesome being able to grab a snack, a drink, a show, and even watch some people skate on a small half pipe all in one spot. I came here recently to watch a local band in the back room, altho it is small, the sound was pretty good. Also, not to mention theres a bar back there too! Seems like in the summer the open the front windows to let a nice breeze in too. Goodluck parking because this area sucks for that!

pretty good music on the weekend, it gets pretty crowded. The bartenders are slow, and don’t Really seem like they hustle to make tips

Cam here for an event and was highly underwhelmed and disappointed. The event was supposed to be a Brazil/Columbia carnaval party. If you know anything about carnaval, it’s a huge celebration with bright colors and energizing music. First, we had to wait in line for 1.5 hours which was very unnecessary because when we finally go in the place wasn’t over crowded. They also charged a $ 15 cover. The event was in a small room in the back of the venue. There was a small stage with a Dj playing Spanish music. There was a an over weight women in her 50s dressed in a sparkly dress and a head peace who attempted to samba. There were also two girls in black sports bras and gym shorts who were dancing. No decorations, no lights, no colors, no talented samba dancers. Terrible experience. Never coming here again

if you love to skateboard and drink with your friends, then this is the spot for you! This was a new concept for me to take in, very unique and interesting. This place also attracts that certain crowd, the skaters of course. I don’t mind it too much. I got some entertainment from the skaters wiping out. Drinks are relatively cheap. Standard mixed drinks(not brand name liquor) are $ 7 while beers costs around $ 6. They ran out of Jack Daniels at the time, so I don’t know if they do run out of liquor frequently. They also have a $ 10 minimum on cards, fyi.

I played here twice! Its a great place to play, hang out, and watch the skaters! The people are nice, they get your drink right away and the mini ramp is awesome. Definitely recommend.

Good luck getting a drink if you’re not one of the«sk8er bois.» On a recent Saturday night around 10pm there was a steady crowd — certainly nothing too crazy. Myself and my 3 friends were at the bar trying to get a drink. After about 10 minutes I finally flagged the bartender down and she hastily took my order. I tried to get drinks for my 3 friends(who were right there — so really she should have asked if they wanted something too) but she cut me off. I went back to the table; my friends were waiting for 20 minutes trying to get a drink but this bartender was only catering to the boys. Sorry girls!!! Only cute skater boys need apply here. My friend, still waiting, then waved our bartender down and said«hello??» The bartender stared at her, then walked away. I finally called the bartender out on her bullshit and said«excuse me my friends have been waiting 20 minutes and you are ignoring them.» She then yelled at me about telling her how to do her job, I yelled back, and we left. Oh, and the barback was on so many percs he couldn’t even move.

Pretty great bar in a cool area. I had never been here before, but they’ve got a cool half pipe, venue for shows, and a big bar area just to hang out. Overall it’s a cool vibe. The venue is definitely one of the better bar venues in Brooklyn with good sound and decent stage and audience space. The bar is a bit pricey, and drafts are $ 7(you can get Brooklyn Lager much chapter at neighboring bars in the area) and the bartenders were mostly rude. I stood at the bar for almost 3 minutes just waiting to be acknowledged, when there was no one else at the bar and it was early on a week night. When I finally did get acknowledged, I felt so uncomfortable, like I was bothering the bartender who had to step away from texting to get me a beer. So I would give this place 4 – 5 stars for its space, ambience, and venue, but I have to take some away for the poor customer service. In an area so populated with bars, they need to be friendlier.

I went here to see a show over the weekend. There is a diverse amount of people here since there’s a skate area, a bar, and a music venue all in one. The show was awesome and a good sound system. The area was spacious and friendly service. The drawback was price. $ 5 for a pbr? I wouldn’t go here unless it was for a good show

Headed down there mainly for the inhouse bowl, only to encounter a mini ramp instead. Not a good selection of beer which might’ve been a bigger downer than the ramp itself. Place’s got potential but not regarding what I was expecting and the doorman and bartenders need to chill a bit.

I came here on a Wednesday night to see my friends’ band. Sat at the bar with a bunch of friends, ate some food, and saw the show. I got the salami sliders and charcuterie plate. Everything was really good, but definitely on the expensive side. I spent nearly $ 20 for what amounted to little more than a small snack. The skate area wasn’t open this night, not that I would have used it, but I imagine it must be fun watching skaters on nights when it is. The sound system in the venue side is very good. The stage is a nice size, and the band sounded much better here than they had at the other venue I went to. The venue space is small and simple but it has a second bar, which was a pleasant surprise when we crossed over.

I stumbled onto an event through Facebook and found out about some bands playing at Black Bear Bar. It was an easy walk from Bedford Ave stop on the L train. Good thing I saw what their logo was or I would walk literally past the venue lol Its separate by the bar vs the venue. There was a guy sitting by the venue section but he didn’t Id me when I arrived. Pretty spacious venue with leather cushioned booths and a full bar with some stools. I got to rock out with The Aviary( ), Brother Valiant( ), and Raccoon Fighter( ) so feel free to check out these bands on Facebook. By far thee most coolest venue in BK and wish I got to see that long gone skateboard ramp thingy.

Stopped by here to watch a good friend of mine perform on stage. It was a little disappointing to see that they got rid of the skating ramp in front of the bar. But, nonetheless, the atmosphere is great, the staff is great, and the drinks are great.

Went Saturday night. REALLYBAD. «Door-man» kept people outside waiting just for the sake of having a line — when in reality, we had tickets for an event in the back already. Zero point to keeping us waiting. Bar service was a joke. Think I had 3 drinks in 4 hours because that’s how long it took to get one. Also, they put lime juice in their Tecate’s without asking — GROSS!!!(get real limes for gods sakes, don’t be cheap) DJ was absolutely shit-faced and played the same songs twice. Couldn’t mix for shit. Played complete garbage. And he was like 80yrs old.

Strong pours(great Old Fashioneds), friendly and attractive bartenders who would take shots with you, awesome music as mentioned as in many reviews which I think varies by the night; they were playing early noughties hip hop /r&b when we were there — so nostalgic, my friend and I had a great time singing and dancing along. We were at the bar section(the music venue is a separate section), in which the ambience is dark and noisy, great for dancing, good for groups. However it doesn’t lend a nightclub feel; it’s laid-back and casual, a mix between lounge(the front area when you first walk in) and pub(the back where the pool table is). The diverse clientele are scattered across this spacious establishment in which the bar is located in the middle of the back area. I don’t understand how this place only has 30 reviews. This place rocks! And I will definitely return for another great night out.
