Walked by here and the smell like a hook on a fishing reel it snagged me in. It was a rough choice but I ended up with the lamb meatball sandwich. It almost knocked me unconscious. Juicy and moist, this meaty sandwich spills with a delicious goodness in the palm of your hand. I found myself fighting with either savoring the flavor and taking another tasty morsel bite. Cauliflower fried with aioli sauce is kind of magical. I’ve had cauliflower a number of ways, even as mac and cheese and this dish they have with the aioli sauce just kills it. Parts of me even found it better than the lamb meatball sandwich. This alone will make me a repeat customer.

The people running this business are so nice! I liked the steak sandwich — big meaty pieces, excellent flavor, with thick crusty bread. To be honest, though, I like a little less bread.

We stumbled upon The Bistro Truck while wandering around NYC at lunch time this past summer. We got there just in time to snag the very last merguez sausages for a mixed plate to share.(This wouldn’t have been enough food, but we were planning to hit up another food truck — if you are grabbing lunch you should order one meal per person.) The food was very good — the sausages were flavourful(especially the merguez — so good) and the sides were done very well. Couscous has a tendency to dry out but I didn’t find that was the case with ours at all. The tagine(I think?) vegetables were really flavourful, resulting in the boyfriend asking why I haven’t made vegetables like this. A salad was served along with it but unlike some ethnic meals that throw on this misfit salad(why do Indian restaurants sometimes give you a plate of iceberg lettuce with Thousand Island dressing? I’ll never understand) this salad was fresh, with a really great dressing that helped it to pair nicely with our meal. Even with the huge selection of food trucks to try in NYC I think we’d have a hard time not visiting this one again.

Everything from this truck is delicious. The lamb burger is amazing… just wish they had their truck out during dinner hours!

3rd time is the charm! Finally I’m early enough to get the Lamb shoulder with rice/couscous as the previous 2 times it was sold out… which I now understand why. The lamb was soft and tender, almost like the meat off a lamb shank. $ 10 and it comes with rice or couscous and a side fresh salad. The only complaint I have is that the whole dish itself is a bit too dry. There’s no sauce to go with the couscous, unless you want to use the spicy mayo they gave you to drown the rice/couscous like the halal chicken rice. I will have this again, but maybe with more hot sauce(not the mayo) next time!

This is one truck I definitely look out for when working downtown. I LOVE their merguez sandwich! The seasonings are on point and taste just like the merguez I grew up eating in France. A lot of places tout that they serve merguez but all just taste like kielbasa. Bistro Truck does it right! I’ve gone here 3 times and each time I cant seem to stray from the merguez sandwich. I love couscous but thats just too much for lunch. The sandwich alone is really big and they even put some belgian cut fries in it. Add some really delicious roasted tomato-caramelized onion charmoula and baby mixed greens and WOW. Always stuffed after but never feel guilty bc this is the one place i know i’ll get the merguez i crave. Yes it’s $ 9 but you get what you pay for: quality. Plus service is friendly and fast. If there’s a line, yes you’ll wait but definitely not as long as some other trucks. If you haven’t tried it and you like moroccan? Do it. Going back to stuffing my face…(yes it’s so good i wrote this up before eating my sandwich so i wouldnt forget)

Great food, very friendly people working there. I tried steak sandwich and lamb burger which can be cooked to your preference and comes with Belgian fries with home made sauce. The lamb burger is so good that I rarely order anything else. It is served on brioche, the lamb meat is very tender and juicy has few original spices. All together with fries makes perfect combination. I’m definitely going to try everything they have on the menu eventually and you should do the same.

NYC is now oversaturated with food trucks, and sadly there are only a couple that I would wait in line for, let alone go back to. This is one of those that makes my list of worthwhile food trucks. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and worth the $ 10 and under lunch budget. My favorite the lamb burger. Not only do you get a well sized and juicy lamb patty with greens, but it comes with a side of belgian french fries. Delicious. The roasted lamb shoulder is a close second with its tender and flavorful chunks of meat. Lastly, the lamb merguez has a hint of spiciness to it that goes well with a sandwich, rice, or couscous. My Fridays have become #JFF(Junk Food Friday) thanks to this truck and @Pierre S. I do recommend going a bit earlier because it takes time for the food to cook and their logistics are still being ironed out.

Best sandwich in the world: their chicken brochette. The sauce they put on this sandwich is so, so good. Marinated, cubed chicken, greens, on a baguette. SOGOOD. Their Belgian fries are amazing as well. The chicken tajine is very good and flavorful, the brisket is super good as well. These are the only things I have tried here so far, but I seriously love this place.

Rushing back to the office the other day after an appointment in Madison Square I was forced to walk through Madison Square eats sans cash or debit card. This alone made my empty stomach growl angrily but when I kept walking down 5th Avenue, my nostrils caught the scent of meat that was so intoxicating that I transformed from hungry luncher to woman on a meat mission. Grabbing the monetary necessities I dragged my coworkers downstairs to get us some truck grub lovin’ asap. And grub, we did. I ordered up the $ 7 lamb burger medium rare and found it to be juicy and then some. It was more than enough to fuel me up. A few bites later and I’ve found a lunch truck that has the spice to take me a long way… more updates to come as I explore the Mediterranean fare in more detail.

Bistro Truck I thought a diner in a truck, Maybe it’s alright, I came too late and you were out of your chicken, So the selection was not exactly for my pickin’. I ended up with the vegetable tajine, Which had vegetables and rice that came from up the ravine, It tasted like a stew from my days of yonder, That made me miss my mom’s food wonders. While the veggies were nice, I was just ambivalent about the rice, It was cooked well and correctly, That made things a little more glitzy. Overall, I say go check this one out, The food is fresh without a doubt, I like the selection, Just get there early so you don’t have to learn my lesson.

This will become my «Friday Lunch Ritual» I’ve came here two Fridays in a row now. You can see a lot of food trucjs around Flatiron, but none of them compare to The Bistro Truck. The food is different and typically what you would find at a sit down place. Bottom line it’s really good and hits the spot just right. When your in the mood for gourMET(yes, emphasis on the T… «MET». I’m keepin’ it classy!) The standard entrees on the menu are the Dijon Chicken, Lamb Marrakech and Vegetbale Tajine. This comes with your choice of Couscous or Basmati Rice. I’ve had both and they are really good. I have tried the Dijon Chicken and it’s very good. It takes the whole«Chicken and Rice» concept to a new level. Though it may cost more than typical«street meat», but the you can really taste the quality. You get a generous amount of chicken over rice or couscous. If your not in the mood for rice and are on the go. They do have a selection of sandwiches. You can choose from Steak, Grilled Chicken, Lamb and even Breaded Fish. You can fancy anywhere you go. Aside from the delicious mainstays, they do have daily specials that changes regularly. I’ve had the Mixed Grill Special. This had a variety of grilled goodies. Chicken Brochette, Steak and a link each of lamb/chicken Merquez. The meats were grilled perfectly, but one meat stood out the most which was the Chicken Merquez. You can really taste the lemon that was freshly squeezed. It added a very nice after taste. Almost refreshing like taking a sip of lemonade. The couscous was nice and fluffy. It was perfectly cooked. Nothing bothers me more than soggy and mushy couscous. They really know what they are doing. To wash it all down you have to get the Moroccan Mint Tea. It’s very refreshing and goes very well with the food. On a hot summer day this will definitely cool you and please your taste buds. I’ve read reviews where it’s hit or miss, but they were really on point this time. If you want to try something different for lunch. This is DEFINITELY the place to go. Follow them on twitter to see when and where they are throughout the week!

I finally made it to the Bistro Truck at 5th Avenue today and I must say, the food exceeded my expectations. At the suggestion of the woman on the truck, I ordered the Merguez(or lamb sausage) sandwich. I admit, at first I was a little reluctant to go with her suggestion since I couldn’t imagine eating a sandwich that had french fries on it– but boy did I have to eat crow on that one! The lamb sausage was perfectly seasoned with herbs and spices, the caramelized onions were just the right amount, the green salad mix made perfectly, and their homemade Bistro sauce was(well) out of this world– light with just the right amount added to the sandwich. And all of this was served on a nice long roll. This was truly a gourmet meal on wheels. You can count me in as a regular at the Bistro Truck, whenever I’m downtown!

Found out about the Bistro Truck after they partnered w/Jennie-O last week & served delicious turkey burgers. Being in NYC, there are tons of great food trucks out there now that serve such gourmet meals… Bistro Truck is definitely one of them. We ordered the Chicken Pastilla & Lamb Marrakech. Both orders were full of flavor & spices & served with a side salad. The Chicken Pastilla came with chicken, egg & spices wrapped in filo dough. The Lamb Marrakech came with flavorful rice & tender lamb. The portions were big and filling and our dishes were $ 10.00 each. Quick Summary: +‘s = Gourmet Food, Friendly Staff -‘s= Our food took about 15 minutes(though I found out you can place your order online prior to picking up!), Don’t think this is something I’d «crave» all the time

Food truck operators have really been stepping it up lately, going way beyond the old leathery«street meat» over rice, and this is a prime example of where high-end food trucks need to go. Okay, I admit it, I only get one thing from this truck — the chicken pastilla — but it is so good, I don’t want anything else, and I only get to have it once a week. The pastilla/puff pastry is better than many things found in full service restaurants… the chicken melts in your mouth, and the other contents of the pastry(eggs, ground almonds, etc.) are bursting with flavor. I haven’t had the fish pastilla, honestly I’m a little afraid to because I’m not big on seafood. I looked at some other reviews and apparently some people have had the opposite experience with the chicken pastilla. I guess that’s just how it is… everyone has different tastes. As good trucks go, this one exceeded my expectations.

I stopped by earlier this week for one of their specials: a portobello mushroom stuffed with crab meat and shrimp and sun dried tomatoes. While it was quite flavorful and delicious, I felt that the portion size was a bit small for the price(almost $ 11). I decided to come back here again for lunch after reading the mixed reviews here. This time, I got the Chicken Brochette and a side of Belgium Fries. The Chicken Brochette was quite delicious, and the sauce really mixed well with the baguette and chicken. Unfortunately, like someone had mentioned, the fries were soggy and over salted. The mayo sauce that came with the fries were able to redeem the fries only slightly. The wait is also a bit long, especially in the cold. But it gives you time to look over their full menu. I will definitely be stopping by again to try some of their other food!

The evening falls and I am still at the Brooklyn Food Film Festival and I needed dinner. My friend recommended the fish taco, so that’s what I ordered. The wait took awhile, but I finally got my fish tacos. It’s $ 6 for two, so this was not bad. The fish taco was okay. It was kind of dry. Maybe it was close to closing? Or it was an off day for them? I don’t know, but I did not really like the fish taco my friend had recommended me. Maybe it was just the fish taco, but it seems like the other things on the menu sounds pretty good.

3.5 stars. A solid savory food truck. I ordered the Friday Special: cous-cous royal with lamb, chicken, salad, and lamb sausage. A TON of food for $ 10, so I can’t complain about that, and the lady at the counter was super nice and gave me some Moroccan mint tea for waiting. I liked the flavors of the cous-cous and the meats, but the sausage was a little too oily and rubbery for my taste, and I still have a little aftertaste of je-né-sais-quoi. Still, I’ll probably be back…

Review is for their Bistro burger and fries and service, only. Easy to find, at peak lunch hour, there was maybe a line of 5 – 6. It took about 10 minutes for my burger order with«Belgian fries» to come out. Dude working the window was friendly enough. I was surprised to hear him ask how I wanted my burger — this is a food truck, mind you, but I guess they’re really trying to earn their Bistro food truck title. I was excited to eat lunch, but the burger was really average tasting(the meat didn’t taste particularly high quality) and there were only like 15 small fries. At least the price was reasonable! If I worked in the area, I’m sure I’d make the Bistro Truck a regular lunch location. But as a destination food truck, I just can’t give it my vote.

Yummy. Yummy. Belly full, full. Why do I do baby talk whenever I encounter cheap delicious food? Note to self: bring it up on my next psychotherapy* session. The Food: –The burger was juicy and well seasoned, that’s not an easy thing to find under $ 5 in this part of town(according to M. who is a burger aficionado). –My lamb sandwich was huge($ 7). I liked the bread but it was simply too thick and doughy for a sandwich, for a lady like me(*bats eyelashes*). The lamb pieces were juicy as well. They were marinated and pairs up semi-divine well with the onions and the tomato-y sauce in the sandwich. –Fries. Got some skin on it. Fresh and hot. My friend recommends their Veggie couscous which is only $ 5. She loved it. — — – *I usually have a therapy session right after morning shower. My therapist looks a lot like me but she seems to be foggy all the time. She is a good listener, my only complain is that she likes to open her mouth and mimic me talking whenever I’m telling her my troubles. There is no respect for the crazies nowadays. — — – Yay! My 100th. post! Thanks to Rachel A. for pointing it out.
