Truffle fries, burrata, crab dip were delicious. Also tried the porter house and pasta. They were decent. Service was decent. Ate upstairs, was imitate and nicely decorated.

Ventured to Bill’s Food and Drink for Restaurant Week, and overall I was quite pleased with the experience. I heard good things about the décor, the food, service etc., so thought I would check it out. Our reservation was at 8:30p on a Friday, and we grabbed a drink in the bar downstairs before heading to dinner a floor up. I was very surprised to see that the restaurant was almost completely empty — perhaps one or two tables were occupied when we entered. We couldn’t figure out why it was so quiet. Were we missing something? My summation is that this place is a Midtown East gem. The décor was grand — very old school, mysterious almost. Many pantings, velvet-ish wallpaper in the bathroom. Interesting. The food was fantastic. Ordered the house salad, hanger steak, and chocolate lava cake — all of which was delicious. The house salad was light with a tasty dressing. Hanger steak was grilled to perfection, and the potato gratin was great. And the chocolate lava cake — omg, to die for. The bottle of wine we ordered(Routestock Route) was also very good. Had a taste of my friend’s pannacotta and didn’t love it, but then again I don’t like panacotta very much. Compared to the regular priced menu, the Restaurant Week menu was certainly worth it. A good value overall. Service was great — the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, and wanted to make sure we were pleased with everything. I’d certainly recommend Bill’s, but still scratching my head as to why it was so quiet for a Friday night!

I think to give this place 3 starts would be unfair as the food was actually good. I thought the restaurant week menu was a reasonable deal, I had a pleasant, well cooked 3 course meal and 1⁄3 bottle good Malbec for $ 80 inc tip — not bad for this part of town. However the regular menu is way over priced for what it is. The service was passable and the décor nice and my food was cooked well, however it was basic. The menu was lacking complexity and ambition, so at the prices they charge the food needs to be spot on. Something inside me told me it wouldn’t! Good for a deal, but perhaps not worth the effort or dent in the funds if eating a la carte

Most of the food was very good(Steak, burger, fries, mac and cheese). One side(garlic mashed potatoes, the servers recommendation) tasted like it was from a box with no seasoning. Décor is great Service was very poor. Overall very overpriced for what they offered. Downstairs had a cozy bar which looked like a great place for a date

Decent food but holy cow is this place wayyyyy over priced! Went with a group of 7. Split 4 apps and each had an entrée. No alcohol as it was a lunch and it was over $ 400! Clients are all business folk throwing the tab on a corporate card. Avoid if you don’t fit that mold…

We stopped in today for a late lunch after passing by this place every day. It looked like a great spot. We head down the stairs past the cute outdoor tables, pretty excited. Walk in the door and we were just assaulted with this gnarly, stank smell. Seriously, it was so bad we were both physically taken aback. We walk to the left towards the hostess stand thinking perhaps it was something outside, but the smell is just as bad there too. It smelled like toilets overflowed or a sewage pipe burst or something. I don’t see any other reviews complaining of this smell, so something must have been up today(7÷28÷15) around 4pm. There were 3 people at the bar, I have no idea how they were handling it. The smell was so vile and overwhelming that we had to leave.

Wonderful service. Halibut special was tasty… although a rather small serving, I left still hungry.

The entrees were both pretty much perfect. I had the peppercorn sauce strip steak. It was very slightly overcooked from how I ordered, but it was delicious nonetheless. The truffle herb fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. The addition of crispy fried basil on top was a great touch. My wife had the Berkshire pork chop. This thing was THICK, and perfectly cooked. I’ve never had a pork chop like this that wasn’t dried out in some spots. This was juicy through and through. Got to go to my page to see the pics and the full review.

Used the groupon. The service and decoration are great. The food are hit and miss. The appetizers(black bean soup and salad) are delicious. The entrees salmon was under season and the steak was too salty. Chocolate lava cake was too dry but the panna cotto was amazing.

Look, I don’t really know how I ended up here on an awkward man-date induced by a Groupon-giving uncle*(although that does make it somehow more fitting that this joint used to be Bill’s Gay Nineties), but I do know this: Bill is a man’s man. The salads are bad. The burger is pretty good. The pork chop is good. Nothing is seasoned properly. It’s either over, or under. They have no right to charge steakhouse prices for the NY strip they are serving. It’s old New York in both good and bad ways. The menu is unapologetically expensive, the space luxuriously decorated(out of a different era), the service is gruff but attentive. The food is appallingly inconsistent, but can be excellent if you get lucky. Overall, this is a place to drink martinis and eat meat. Like men. Gay, nineties men. ____________ *Actually, it sounds like I know exactly how I ended up here.

So I’m sort of into this place even though it’s really overpriced and takes itself a little too seriously. Awesome spot to get together with your boys — old school, leather, whiskey and oil painting vibe. The steaks were great. The service was good. The vibe can be a little heavy on the finance bros but it’s in midtown, what can you do. Bar downstairs is hilarious, crowded, like a really upscale frat basement. Enjoy!

Loved this place! You walk in a town house, each floor and room have a gorgeous, luxurious and yet chill vibe. It’s like walking into an old English manor. The food was also amazing! We went on a groupon and had a lot of food: 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Everything was amazing. The salads were fresh, the steak and pork perfectly cooked(I loved the warm apple with my pork) and the desserts were surely homemade and were delectable(especially the caramel cheesecake). Big yes!

The dinning room is located at the second floor, the dinning room is elegant and 80s. I bought a groupon deal($ 109 for 4), they have the special menu for groupon deal. 3 options for appetizer, 4 options for entrée and 3 options for dessert. I ordered soup of the day, they served the scallop on a empty plate, then they pour the soup in front of you over the scallop. For the entrée, must order NY steak, the fries taste wasabi. It’s very special. For the dessert, the chocolate lave cake is really good because I love dark chocolate. :p

Got a Groupon deal. The dinning room is located above the noisy bar floor, amazing ambiance, very nice with dim lighting and candles. Salty, salty, and salty… We ordered Mushroom soup with truffles… salty! Steak dinner… salty, it came with fries… salty! Grilled Pork Chop… Salty, it came with side dish also very salty! This place uses truffle oil generously, almost on all items, the mains /sides /fries were covered with truffle oil. After the meal the coffee was a topnotch! Complementary to their pastry chief though… the Pumpkin chess cake was A+, and their chocolate cake was also very nice! Servers were very attentive, good service. Sadly Bill’s food did not meet my expectation regardless the great deal, and attentive staffs.

When you first arrive you would assume its just another pub. But when you are escorted upstairs you are absolutely FLOORED! The ambiance is amazing. Beautiful to say the least. Very romantic & the staff caters to hour every need. We had a great little private table in the back corner. And let me say the food was beautifully prepared to match the ambiance. And the taste was just as good! From start to finish… I used a Groupon & got a three course meal for two people for $ 55. I felt like luxury! You must try this place!

Inside: Great cozy place for a nice dinner or a few drinks, dimly lit. Even though the bar can have a crowd while you’re trying to enjoy a quiet dinner but it doesn’t interfere. Might have to reservations depending on weather or day. Food: We did 3 course meal for each. There are only two appetizer options so that was a little disappointing. I had the fennel/arugula salad? with fruit bites and oiives. Which wasn’t desirable to eat, if that makes since. 1⁄5 Then I had the Organic Roasted Chicken which was amazing 4⁄5. Along with the Pumpkin Cheesecake 5⁄5! My date enjoyed the King Salmon 4⁄5. Service: Service was good over all. Should improve seating arrangements for dinner guest.

So we were seated on the second table from the stairwell entrance and had the pre-fixe dinner from groupon. Our hostess was wonderful and gave us exactly what we needed, checked up on us every now and then. The busboy gave us water like 10 times because my boyfriend guzzles it down but his glass was never left empty for more than 5 minutes! I had Apples and Pears drink, cream of broccoli, rare steak and espresso gelato. Boyfriend had Apples and Pears drink, beet salad, medium steak and chocolate cake. The broccoli soup – miss steak-chewy for a rare, can’t really see it because our table was pretty dark but good flavor. It was probably closer to a medium gelato-spot on! delicious One of the staff: Santiago *looks* like one of the waiters, he blends in with the staff, and he provides the BESTSERVICEEVER. He saw me eating the soup and was kind of hesitant to eat it because it tasted like overcooked broccoli. He noticed that I asked for no cinnamon in my drink and asked me how it tasted. It had chartruse in it which gave it a cinnamon taste, he remade my drink without cinnamon and chartruse AND gave us another round on the house. In the end I went back and thanked him for the amazing service. he hands me his card… He’s the director of the restaurant!!! Imagine my surprise. thank you so much for giving my boyfriend and I the best anniversary dinner. Ps. my boyfriend hated chartruse too but we didn’t have the heart to ask him to remake his drink as well, thank you for the amazing service! my boyfriend really wanted my drink hahaha

This place is a gem. I had a double date with a Groupon($ 109 for 4) few weeks back. I would return even without the Groupon when I get a chance, because it is worth the spurge. First I want to say how this place reminds me of Jean George’s JoJo Restaurant because of its atmosphere on the second floor. The dim lightings and decoration was incredible and lots of historical paintings/decorative. The steak and truffle fries is a must get, but I cannot resist the salmon. It is light and crisped. The service was attentive. Our front server was friendly, the back server on the other hand had a little attitude when we did not hear him say where is the ladies room the first time. Bills Food and Drink delivered an exceptional, memorable dining experience. My mind sparkled when our host insisted to hold my friend’s drink walking up the stairs to the dining room. That kind of service is so professional, personal, and glam. I was impressed.

Unfortunately, Bill’s did not meet the expectations that I had going in. I was invited by a group of friends who used a Groupon(for a party of 4 with apps/entrée/dessert for $ 109), but I was not able to use one so I just ordered off the traditional menu. So, let’s start off with the Positives! — The food is actually quite delicious — I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie(I’d rate it 4.5÷5), the Steak(4⁄5), the Salmon(3.5÷5), Lamb(4⁄5) — The apple crisp dessert was really delicious(4⁄5) — The pianist in the bar area was awesome — definitely a major perk Here it goes with the Areas of Improvement! — We had a reservation at 6:30PM, and they required us to wait 10 minutes for the other table to finish(no biggie) — Server started out amazing and accommodating, but she never came around again, yet she went around to all the other services(possibly b/c most of the table used a Groupon) — They charged $ 5 for a soda, and did not let us know that it was not free refills(we should have asked) — The manager came by and said hello and asked if things were okay. Then he went around the restaurant and spent a significant amount of time talking to other tables(the last amount of time with ours) Here it goes with the real negatives that REALLY need to be improved! — They put 5 people in a booth that only seated 4. I was sitting at the corner uncomfortably throughout the whole 2 hours. It was a bit outrageous — just view my pictures — They ran out of a few of the desserts, and substituted both the chocolate cake and cheesecake with really cheap pudding(it still tasted good), and apple crisp(which was actually good) — The old fashioned was extremely watered down — requested for a new one and it was better(Bulleit) — They wouldn’t allow us to change anything out from the pre-fixed menu(which is understandable) I would definitely give this place another chance. I personally don’t use Groupons, but don’t think that restaurants should heavily bias against those that do.
