I have been ordering from this restaurant for more than 20 years; its gone through a couple of iterations(Hunan Park II, Hunan Park, Big Apple, now back to Hunan Park!!!) and I agree with the reviews I’ve seen by and large; hit or miss. Never quite very good but never really very bad either. Consistently«meh» which is ok when you know what to expect. Anyway, I placed an order this evening(Wednesday Aug 6) and used my debit/credit card as I have MANYMANY times. This time, they asked for the 3 digit security code which I refused to give(in fact I cant think of a restaurant I ‘ve ordered in from ever asking for the code). Not because I necessarily don’t trust the person taking the order(like he accused me) but because I strictly limit the type of personal info that I «put out there». So, the moral of this review is: 1. If you don’t want your personal security info needlessly distributed then don’t order via cc at «Hunan Park aka Big Apple; 2. Don’t try to talk reasonably with whom I think is the manager because you wont get very far. The last time I ordered from this place was this past Monday! and he insisted they always did it tis way(asked for 3 digit security code). I can live without egg foo young if it means my bank info is safer.

They’re struggling to turn out better food. Hit and miss. More vegetarian options are greatly appreciated, but the staff is woefully ignorant of the difference between vegan and vegetarian. And don’t really seem to care. Garlic Tofu bites delicious. Sesame Noodles possibly the worst example of this dish in history.

This used to be Hunan Park II. What a disappointment. So-so service, same obnoxious guy at the sushi station/bar and they changed the menu. The food was priced higher but the quality was not what I came to expect from them. Hunan was on a slow downward spiral but these guys completed the transition to mediocrity. I will mourn what once was arguably the best Chinese food on the Upper West Side north of 86th Street! [Update: One star was too harsh so I have edited to add a star. Everything else stands.]
