Don’t go here! Total waste of money! Terrible service and not good cut. Stylist didn’t listen to what I wanted, didn’t bother styling my hair or even drying it completely. plus I thought she might cut my neck while giving me my cut– using my neck as a guide for her scissors… Very uncomfortable!

The jury is still out for this place and me. I liked my stylist (Jolanda) and I liked the atmosphere – it was small and personable. I did not receive any amenities, such as a wash prior to the cut. Jolanda seemed to take pride in her work and understood the fundamentals of a good cut, but I came out of there feeling a little disheveled and my hair on top a little shorter than I wanted. I think she does a good job, but if you are looking for something new for yourself and do not know what that is, like most stylists, they are good at following what was already there. There was a guy in there that looked hip and seemed to have that artist vibe to him and the owner seemed like she could cut. All three worked well together and enjoyed their trade. I am not sure the reviews accurately reflect this place. I have been to worse with better reviews.
To climb out of the review hole they dug themselves into, I would suggest they make a wash part of the package and not a la carte and add some Indie electronic to the background with a decent set of speakers.
Their video ad on Unilocal did not reflect how it was the day I was there (Wed @ 5)

The only person there that knows how to cut hair is the owner a lady whose name is Tanzine. There are a couple of other stylists there, a strange looking blond guy and a spanish girl, both of whom should work in a butchers shop. If you don’t get the owner run away, they really don’t have much talent in there

Bad experience. I was trying to grow my hair out and wanted to even the length out. I specifically instructed him as to how I wanted it cut — but he disregarded that and cut it the way HE thought it should be. I had to fight with him in the chair about what I wanted while he kept insisting on doing it his way. He thinks his ideas for you hair is the only way and does NOT follow instructions. BEWARE!!!

This place sucks. They chop with impunity, don’t listen to what you say, and apparently don’t recognize the look of horror on a customer’s face. The woman had the nerve to try to charge me about 25% more than the quote on the sandwich board outside said, and then get pissy when I objected. I should have followed my instincts and walked the couple more blocks to Dramatics for a walk in haircut. I will never, ever go here again (not that I’ll ever need another haircut, since she cut most of it off). DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY OR SANITY.

Beyond Beauty is one of those rare finds… fabulous haircuts without breaking the bank! The atmosphere is warm, friendly and unpretentious. I’ve been going there since it opened and have recommended it to friends who have gone there and had very positive experiences.

Ive been going to salon for a few years. Tanzina is the person I typically use but there is another nice lady named America (not sure if thats the correct spelling of her name) and they are both great. The people are nice and the atmosphere is friendly. Ive recommended that a few of my friends go there and they have all had good experiences. I would definately recommend it to my friends.

They were very nice to fit me in for a last-​minute wash/​cut/​blowout on a Saturday afternoon. But «nice» isn’t everything. Though my blowout looked pretty good when leaving (curling strands under hides a great deal of flaws) the next day showed the truth: the layers around my face are very uneven, the right side above my mouth and the left below my chin! Add to this several long sections in back that are about an inch longer than the rest. I don’t know if this was an oversight or what, but she must have noticed the unevenness when she was styling and just decided to hide it with the blowout rather than correct her errors. So, yes, this place was inexpensive, but you end up paying double going somewhere else to fix the problems. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME.

I’ve visited the place once just to find an adorable lady named Elda who did a terrific job fixing a «not so good» haircut I got at a different place. I have a short hair and I was naïve to wonder «how hard could it be to cut it», not to mention a simple trim to the sides… I was wrong. The guy butchered my haircut making me look like a «Jewish Frankenstein».
That is even after I specifically explained what I want, and even point my finger at the spot I ilke to AVOID cutting. After all that, and after mentioning to them that I really don’t like it and it’s not what I’ve asked for, they still had the nerve to charge me $ 22 !!!
Avoid this place by all means if you care about how you look.

although it was a quick haircut, i wouldnt go back. the woman (dont remember her name) didnt even wash my hair before she cut it, i had to ask her to wash it, which i could tell she wasnt pleased about. then i asked her to layer my bangs, and instead she just cut it straight. the overall cut looked choppy and messy in the end, and it wasnt as cheap as i expected it to be for such a rinky-​dinky place. dont waste your money here, unless u just want a simple trim or something.

I was feeling broke so wanted somewhere near home to give me a cheap trim and found this place on Unilocal.
It’s a very no frills, cheap and cheerful place, and I suspect there was more than a day’s worth of hair trimmings on the floor, but it’s a typical friendly neighbourhood kind of place.
I’m really pleased with the cut that I’ve got. I don’t know whether I’d go there for a MAJOR restyle but I would definitely go back for a regular trim.
That said — I didn’t have enough cash on me to tip, so whether I’ll actually be welcome there again is entirely a different question…

I called this place for a last minute appointment to get my hair styled– after reading the great Unilocal reviews. They got me in despite a long and confusing phone call. I got there and the lady that was supposed to help me was busy so someone else helped me. He tried really hard to style my hair but really had no idea what to do. (Note: All I wanted was my hair in a ponytail for an event with some height in the front). Luckily, they only charged me half price for the bad hair job. Nice people, but would not go back. Sorry :(
