if I could give negative stars I would. First, it looked like the place was closed. Then, it seemed ike we were interrupting something when we went in. I didn’t see any burgers being served FYI. Also, I swear last time I was there, it was called West Side Bar and Grill. Very weird. I think it’s a front for something. One positive is my friends and I ended up having fun. maybe due to the shared experience of feeling like we were in a place that was a front for something else. They also have charged my debit card 3 times for the same purchase and I can nto get in touch with them to take it off. I have had to block my account and start a fraud investigation. Can we say shady?

I was here this past wknd for a friends bday & in the end was pleasantly surprised. We had the back area by the DJ for the night & for the most part this is where we stayed. They have hookah’s but since I am not really into it I didn’t try any every one else seemed to be enjoying it. The DJ surprisingly played a good variety of music, I was surprised since when I walked in I wasn’t expecting it to be good. The place could use a make over didn’t care for the not so flattering décor & they really should mop a bit more often the floors are pretty sticky. Aside from that, the bartenders were nice & the prices pretty decent. We had fun plenty of dancing & drinking the place certainly turned out alright.

Okay, so I broke my rule about going to places with things like ‘awesome’, ‘incredible’, and ‘best’ in their names. Mistake(though DO go to Best Bagels around the corner on 35th). They were slow, the hookah had 4 coals on it(first time hookah has ever made me cough), the fries were dry, the appetizer came after I finished eating my entrée, they didn’t bring a drink and side that we ordered(in fact, they brought the side and then took it back saying it was for someone else), and the burger was average.

Sunday at 5:10 pm, no one in the place and no service customer behind the counter and loud music playing. After a few minutes I had to shout for an employee. I ordered a Cowboy burger served medium. 20 minutes later I finally got my burger. It was over cooked. Poor service, bad food. Waste of $ 9.50.

Recently moved and need to update the address. The burgers are great and black and white shake is like crack! Will be coming here more often.

Excellent burger, but was expecting a bit more variety & creativity from a place with«burgers» in its name. Also a bit expensive for what it is, but overall not bad

I only had a shake here… no burger. I think its a great deal first off, four bucks for a creamy shake 16oz, and its a real milkshake not that wannabe soft serve BS. I got strawberry, it was loaded with real bits, the only problem was it was too thick and I could not suck it through the straw.

I love their burgers and shakes. They really are the best… especially for the incredibly reasonable prices. Love their hot wings too. I haven’t tried their cheese fries, but after reading about them here, I’m going to order some right now! :-) NOTE: They have moved. Their new location is… 314 W 36th St(between 8th and 9th Ave) They’re too far from home to deliver to me now, but now they are close enough to my office to deliver to me there… so it’s all good. :-) The atmosphere of the new location is 1000 times better than the old one. It’s actually a decent fun place to dine and hang out. This place is a New York City gem. Now, if only I can talk the owner into accepting Bitcoin. I’ll be working on them.

Ive never had a burger from here, but the shakes are AWESOME and they seriously have the BEST cheese fries(2nd only to Yankee Staduim Garlic Cheese Fries) and for only $ 3 an order, they are AWESOME. Ive ordered BB&S a few times from Seamless web and the delivery has always been really fast, with only an $ 8 min! Great deal for Midtown West/Hell’s Kitchen

More like«meh”-st burger. Greasy fried veggie burger on a plain white bun with pickles, onions, lettuce, a tiny slice of blue cheese. Not bad, but not good, either. I went here because I tend to seek out obscure places at lunch with no crowds, but this joint was empty for a reason.

#18 One of the Unilocalers was right about the wait. 15 min and I was the only person there. But it’s made to order so it’s fresh. The place is a hole in the wall and fine if you’re in the area and feel like a burger and shake. It’s def not worth a special trip. The burgers are ok. I went with the turkey burger and felt that it was a bit dry. The shake was good but won’t necessarily make me crave it anytime soon. Drop by if you’re in the hood but don’t expect to be wowed…

The prices are reasonable and the food is good, I might have even given it 4 stars BUT holy effing slow. SERIOUSLY. I don’t mind a little bit of a wait because it makes me think they are making things fresh but this is a little unacceptable. I was late for work. AND when I paid with a card the guy at the counter hovered over me while I was signing for it and wouldn’t back off which was super awk. I’d probably get food here again but I’d know next time to call WAY ahead so it would be waiting for me when I got there.

Acceptable burger — not great(and certainly not«the best») by any stretch of the imagination. I had the black spice burger with bacon, bleu cheese, sauteed onions and bbq sauce. Ordered it as medium, the outside was charred and the inside was probably medium well. The burger patty itself was a good size but a bit dry and not much flavor… a clean canvas if you will. The toppings($.75 each) were fairly liberal portions. The bun was a no-frills bun you would expect from a grocery store. The french fries that came with the burger/soda combo were typical and nothing to write home about. They were definitely made at the restaurant(not frozen bag fries from what I can tell) but they weren’t particularly crisp or flavorful. I also got an order of «chicken wings», which was $ 4.00. They didn’t have an option on grub hub to specify spiciness level so you just get what they feel like doing that day. I would say they were not spicy at all so probably the«mild» flavor of buffalo sauce. The chicken wing quality was not very good, probably pre-packaged frozen. The sauce was a bit too buttery for my liking and not very flavorful. The meat had none of the sauce flavor either so they must just douse it in the sauce before serving. The price for the above described meal was a wopping $ 18.50! If I weren’t using a groupon(purchased for $ 10) I would have been upset over the cost. Overall this place is not worth going to since there are better alternatives in the area and certainly better places that will deliver.

Should be called«Great Burgers and Shakes», since that name is a better match. So far, their burgers are a close second to Johnny Utah’s in NYC. Surprisingly, it was a little unevenly cooked(one side closer to medium, the other medium rare), but the flavor was still good. The cheddar, lettuce, tomato, avocado and spicy mayo on top complemented the sirloin flavor well. Will be back since they are substantially cheaper and deliver faster than Johnny’s. Found a new favorite for burgers in NYC.

I used Lillian Y.‘s review from the duplicate posting and, I’ve gotta say, the turkey burger was fantastic! I ordered via seamlessweb and delivery was ultra slow(estimated delivery time was15−30 minutes and ended up being 45+), but the burger was still excellent. You could tell that the ingredients were fresh and the turkey was well seasoned. I added on the fries which were actual potatoes and not the prepackaged fried stuff you get at most places. It seems this place may have improved based on the other reviews. Definitely worth a try! delivery + turkey burger + fries + tip — all for less than $ 11.00

If you are going to have a cheat day, the calories should be worthwhile. I am a health and fitness nut, so I blame my co-workers for introducing me to this piece of paradise. I have only had the turkey burger, fries, black and white shake and onion rings. I have eaten inside, which is quaint. It’s best to order to go. This is not some fast food joint. The turkey burgers do not taste like frozen patties grilled to cardboard perfection. They taste like homemade, juicy, flavorful awesomeness!!! I don’t usually eat junk, especially not fries and shakes, but I allowed it and their’s are sinfully delicious! I already plan to hit the treadmill for some extra minutes, but I enjoyed every bite! The one negative is that the onion rings aren’t delish. They are super salty and rather soggy. I stick with the fries. Another great thing is that you can order from your smartphone, or I could via my iPhone and iPad. The price is cheap for delivery at an unheard of $ 8 minimum. Some restaurants require a $ 20 minimum for delivery. You can detail your order online to a science. Every little thing can be added or subtracted like sauce, and it details which toppings are free vs. extra. That’s so hi-tech for a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Delivery is super fast, between 15 – 30 minutes. I opted out of keeping my payment info in, but you can so that re-ordering is easy. I don’t plan to go to this place again until next year, as it’ll take a while to work off what I consumed, but if you are in the mood for some homemade style burgers and shakes, is is THE place to go! Trust me.

Ordered through Seamless Web. I have to say that this is one big, juicy burger. I was surprised at the size of the burger. It’s huge and they have the perfect burger bun for it too. The onion rings, although soggy, had a great taste to them. The shake wasn’t as good but it was passable. This has become a lunch time favorite for me as well as for others in my office. I would have given 5 stars were it not for the soggy onion rings and below average shake but the burger does carry the meal.

Island Burger it is not. My husband ordered a HAMburger MEDIUM. We received a CHEESEburger RARE. It was still mooing. I hope he doesn’t get sick. The fries, described as ‘like homemade’ in another review, were soggy and undercooked. But the flavor was right. On the plus side, my chicken sandwich was okay. The shakes were good, and they gave me one with 2% milk as requested. They sent deli mustard as my husband requested. The delivery guy was friendly. The Verdict: we will not reorder, serves us right for rewarding a place that leaves menus all over the building.

Best Burger and Shakes is the reincarnation of the former La Cocina Zero 2 Nine and the disasterous«Pizza-in-the-City», sporting the American foodie pastime of burgers and shakes, not to be confused with its previous infatuation with Italian specialties. As direct as the name may sound to some folks, it remains rather unique in the Hell’s Kitchen area and was possibly named by a 5 year old. After having my first sampling today, thanks to Seamless Web, I can say they have neither the best shake or the best burger, just a solid one that is a notch above a diner burger. On a positive note, my cheeseburger was juicy. It tastes similar to Island Burgers( ) but $ 3 cheaper. My additional overeasy egg was cooked perfectly, much better than anything Jackson Hole has done for their Texan Burger. The yolk explosion from the first bite was as dribbly as the juices that flowed from the burger moments before. The cons of this place is as confusing as they are negative. First off, «Double Cheeseburger» doesn’t imply two beef patties between two buns and cheese, but rather an additional slice of cheese. If you want a real«double» cheeseburger, then you may want to check in with the«Double Burger» which is $ 10 on its own. Secondly, there is way too much bread. Bread to meat ratio was too much and I had to tear off the bits of bun I knew could not make it to my stomach without throwing it back up. Thirdly, never order avocado with the burger here. Something was going on in that hard boiled egg sliced half avocado bit, tasted sour and weird. Bonus — the fries taste homemade. This is a good thing. A bad thing would be to add $ 1 and make it cheesified. It now tastes gooey like heart attack gooey. Not good. While Best Burgers and Shakes isn’t all that bad, it certainly holds no candle to the likes of Shake Shake, JG Melon, or even Jackson Hole. There are growing pains with every business and I hope they’ll take into consideration what makes for a good burger while keeping their prices in check. I’ll probably give them a try again down the line when things become a little more settled.
