As a former Stuyvesant HS student, this place has so many memories. Throughout my four years this has been the go-to deli in the area. I loved going there for the paninis but I also love the BLT with chipotle mayo. The guys behind the deli counter are super friendly and so are the cashiers. However, when I came here for lunch, it was always crowded, so fair warning to those who can’t stand kids!

Its swarming with Stuyvesant students, middle schoolers, and residents. As a Stuyvesant student, it was literally the best place to grab a bite to eat. They customize anything you want on a sandwich. You want bacon and cream cheese on a toasted bagel? No problem.(Which by the way is really tasty) They also have popcorn chicken, all hot and ready. The cashier lady is always so friendly and nice. It’s owned by Koreans and occasionally they’ll have some kimbap or dukkbukki and its always good too. But if I were not a student, I would avoid this place at all times during lunch and after-school. It’s so crowded and the kids, especially the middle schoolers, do not know how to act like civilized people. I probably spent the most money here, in my four years at Stuyvesant High School. Good times.

I eat here 5 – 8 meals a week. Very good breakfast and lunch. Best cold brew coffee around. Highly reccomend the sirloin sandwich. Soups and veges are great too. Good variety of food spanning all price ranges.

So at about 4PM, I get hankerings for all things caffeinated and sugary. This is where Gourmet Market comes in handy. Let’s go back to the good old days of childhood where you could buy fistfuls of crybabies and tearjerkers and pixie stix and fun dip off the ice cream truck with the change you found in the couch. And though I am a few days shy of my 20— ehem — somethingth birthday(it’s odd and it’s not prime, that’s all you’re getting), I still relish in those days, the thrills of childhood, like 50 cent potato chips and 25 cent airheads. The brilliant creatures who run this shop have every candy imaginable at fairly reasonable prices, along with individual Bacio and Rocher’s in the front. I may have to throw some elbows as I wade waste deep in Stuyvesant kids, but I’ll abide for a chance to satiate my afternoon ebb and relive my yoot.

As with all places in this area, this grocery store is highly over priced. But the single yet essential redeeming point here is that it’s open 24 hours. It is one of few(if not the only) places that always stays open incase you find yourself coming home at 3 in the morning, with a sudden craving for, say, a muffin, or a custom made wrap, or a pint of amazingly good Perry’s ice cream. And to add to that, they also deliver — which is great for, say, when you live literally across the street but coming downstairs will mean having to put on a jacket, some shoes, and actually needing to extend your hand out to press the elevator button. So for these nights, the Gourmet Market is heaven. :)
