If there’s a zero rating, I would give them a zero rating. Beware!!! don’t order from this restaurant! I ordered through seamless and waited for almost 2 hours, called them three times. On the third time I called them, the guy said they did not make my order even though he kept saying the delivery guy is on his way! Don’t trust this restaurant! They will keep you waiting and waiting! And they won’t even apologize!

Very good food, but don’t bother with delivery. I’ve ordered barkogi on seamless a handful of times. On average, I would say it takes about an hour(sometimes longer) and the food doesn’t hold up very well in transit. And if you call to check on the order, good luck getting someone on the phone. But in the restaurant(if you can get a table), the wings are awesome and the vegetable sides are usually pretty tasty. I am a big fan of spicy food, but I find the hot wings way too hot to enjoy. I suggest ordering them with the soy garlic and getting hot sauce on the side.

Good selection of Korean bar food and alcoholic beverages. Service was good. Ordered seafood noodles which was good and big portion. Overall, good place to check out.

If you come here and place an order for take out be sure to remind the hostess every ten minutes. It turns out your order might get misplaced or just forgotten AFTER you’ve paid for it. Waited forty five minutes and it finally came out after I reminded her that I was waiting. Very unprofessional.

November 2015-I was waiting for my sales team to arrive and I was sitting at the bar ordering drinks and food. I was randomly asked to leave the bar and restaurant. As a person of color, I believe that I was targeted. I called the NYPD and filed a police report. I was given no explanation from any member of the staff at Bar Kogi and treated disrespectfully. I would say to anyone, think twice before coming here.

I’m appalled by the service here, I can’t think of a better way to ruin a business than to be a jerk to your customers. I asked to modify the toppings on my sandwich order and was told they couldn’t do that. I wasn’t asking for anything to be added but for items to be on the side instead, this took almost 10 minutes to resolve. My friend found a long hair in her rice and asked if she could substitute a small order of tatter tots but was refused, instead they gave her a free drink and took money off her bill. We can’t understand this, apparently the tots are so precious that they’d rather deduct her bill more than what a regular order costs. Anytime we ask for anything the waitress acts too busy and like a real jerk. So in the end I got my chicken burger without toppings but didn’t receive those toppings on the side and my friend had to argue for 15 minutes to get the hairy rice situation taken care of. After all that confusion and chaos I’m emotionally drained and very unsatisfied with this place that I used to think was a real gem.

Ordered online, waited 3 and a half hours. They delivered the wrong item and then said the food was on it’s way but when I called them again they said because of the weather they could not give an accurate estimate on when it would arrive. Really bad customer service, and lied regarding the order status.

Horrible customer service. We ordered food for delivery at 4pm — we waited three hours and had to call three times for them to finally tell us at 7pm that there were serious delays and that we should probably cancel our order. Why not tell us this the first time we called? jeez.

I will not go here again ever. I don’t write reviews often but bad behavior of restaurant people had forced me to take it to Unilocal. This used to be a great place, but has deteriorated over the last few months. The food comes out cold from the kitchen and the servers are not even apologetic about it. The restaurant manager has no respect for returning customers and just because he has a busy bar seems to think can misbehave with customers as he like. I will not recommend this to anybody.

The place does the job, a pretty good job at that, but don’t expect life-changing korean-style chicken. Food: I’m a fan of the spicy flavor(Note: flavor is more accurate than«sauce» per se. The chicken comes out with a crispy outershell that is slightly sticky). I recommend the wings over the drumsticks — better fried skin to meat ratio. Also, PROPS to the boneless option — it’s a chicken strip that is surprisingly moist inside. It comes out in bigger portions too. My main gripe is the aforementioned crispy outershell. It’s a bit heavy and salty for my liking. Too much of a good thing = bad thing. Atmosphere: It was relatively full for a Sunday lunch but we had a reservation. If you’re interested in watching a game, they basically projected screens on every wall so literally everyone in my 10 person table could watch the NFL game on Sunday. Game on.

I went with a few friends on Friday night around 7:30. It. is. loud. This is cool if you’re expecting it, but I made reservations for this place with the intention of sitting down and catching up with friends, but we couldn’t even hear each other speak. That’s how loud it is.(A woman had her little baby in there???) So BarKogi. Is it a Bar? Is it KBBQ? It is neither and both at the same time, but not really actually. There are TVs everywhere showing sports and a full bar, but then a sit down area with tables. No grills for BBQ. One TV showing KPop. Feels like BarKogi is having an identiy crisis in my opinion. Some menu items aren’t too bad but the bibimbap was $ 17. If anyone has read any of my other reviews, I complained about another restaurant’s bibimbap being $ 17. It’s just so absurd to me. Bibimbap is like snack food of Korea. It just rice and mixed vegetable what am I even paying $ 17 for? I ordered the Chicken Katsu with curry. It came with a poached egg and some lettuce thing on the side(sorry I have no idea what it is). It was $ 15($ 2 extra just to «add curry». LOL why did I even get that???) It was good, but I don’t eat Katsu often even to really judge it. Portions are kinda large? We ordered the kimchi fries. They were good, but BIG. Also ordered the boneless chicken and they were like chicken strips essentially so REALLYBIG. Food is spicy! So that’s a plus. All in all, I may come back again if I happen to be in that area next time I’m in Manhattan, but I usually hang out downtown, so what I’m saying is, I wouldn’t go to midtown east just to eat here or anything. They do have happy hour on drinks and food though! So that’s worth considering.

I was craving Korean fried chicken and BarKogi was the closest location for me yesterday. I ordered from their lunch specials — Wings + Drum Lunch Special(6 wings, 1 drum, steamed rice) for $ 9. I thought the chicken was just OK, nothing to rave about. It satisfied my craving but I prefer Boka in the East Village. I find that with Korean fried chicken, the spots in NYC are not as consistent. I used to like UFC(Unidentified Flying Chickens) in Queens, but they had some really off days and I couldn’t bring myself to take out from there again. KyoChon in K-town was OK too. I have yet to try Turntable Chicken Jazz. All in all, BarKogi’s fried chicken satisfied my craving, but I wouldn’t go back and expect much.

No idea why this place would be a 3-star. The food here is delicious with the fried chicken always cooked excellently. The menu is simple and varied, the prices are kickass, good alcohol selection, great portions — you have to really try to dislike the place. If you come here, go for the small wing and drumstick combo($ 11) and get the kimchi waffle fries(big portion). I would highly recommend this spot for a quick lunch during work or for an order-in dinner.

Was craving fried chicken, wanted to check out this place. Ordered fried chicken for delivery once on seamless and I was waiting forever for the food… it was 2 hours late… and the chicken here wasn’t even that good. nothing special. I was very disappointed. I should’ve known better… with the bad reviews. Never ordering from here again.

We had great service here but ultimately the food was touch and go. The edamame, which we got for free through the Unilocal special offer(thanks Unilocal!), was great. We also ordered a pork belly bao which was so full of mayonnaise(ummm what?!) that it was practically inedible. The chicken spring rolls were good although extremely small, even for an appetizer. We split the main course which was delicious, although I really hate mushrooms which apparently comprised half of the dish(even though it was not listed), so I couldn’t truly enjoy the entire dish, but the meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce was delicious. A couple of other things that merit mentioning: this place is EXTREMELY loud. I could not hear the person sitting at my own table, and we were shouting the entire time. There is no need for the music to be this loud anywhere besides a dance club. There is also only one bathroom, shared between men and women, that lacked toilet paper and was dirty when I was there. Who wants to wait 20 minutes to use a dirty toilet? Gross. This would have made for a four star review if the prices were more reasonable, but we spent about $ 60 on food only to still be hungry at the end of the meal. There are better places in the area to eat.

Me and my friend were trying to get into a karaōke spot but because we didnt make reservations we wound up trying to find food and stumbled onto this spot. I’m soo glad we did. The waiter was very happy and excited to serve us. I had the rice bowl with the egg and the dumplings. My friend had the rice bowl and shrimp skewers with the scallion pancakes. She didnt like the pancakes but loved the skewers and rice. The rice was amazing with all these different flavors. I caught myself humming which is my way of saying the food is good. For alcohol I had the seoul drink and while it was sweet, a couple of those and you will feel a buzz. The prices were decent in the area and the music playlist was cool for a Friday night. I will definitely go there again when I have a taste for Korean food.

Came to Kogi on a Friday with my friends after attending Comic-Con. We had the tots, fries, and kimchi waffles(different, but it works) for apps. I tried the steak taco which I enjoyed. My friend said the pork belly taco was good, too. The entire group also split an XL order of chicken wings(combo) which I would say is comparable to any other Korean fried chicken place. It was crispy and tasty, no complaints at all. I personally like the spicy option the most.(I like spicy everything spicy). The spice comes in as a nice after kick per bite. I don’t know why this place has a 3 star review. I’d say overall it should be at a 4.5.

Ahh another Korean fried chicken place that I just didn’t like :(Service was pretty poor although I do feel bad for the waitress because she was still nice. The cup they served me water in had lipstick stains on the rims and my friend’s plate still had sauce on it. They apologized for it and never came back with my water until I asked for it way later. They also seemed very unfamiliar with the free edamame Unilocal special and they had to take it to the manager in the back. I got the #1 lunch special with just Soy Garlic and it was waayyy too thick and salty. Chicken was fried well but the sauce was too strong. Soy garlic is supposed to be more sweet than salty so that was disappointing. My friend got the hot and spicy flavor and said it was«dank» so maybe that one is a better choice but beware because it is very spicy.

After the closure of Korean Palace about one and a half year ago, I always struggle to locate an authentic Korean restaurant with traditional dishes, and most importantly, the fried chicken wings and drums. The experience at Barkogi helped me fill in this blank. Went just at lunch time, the restaurant was not crowded at all, so we were being seated quickly. Good was brought up a little bit slow, yet waiter was nice enough to bring us extra plates, spoons for sharing. Liked the soy sauce garlic flavor the best, salt pepper and hot spicy ones were also good. The tofu salad was way too sour though…
