Came here after a walk in the high line. Pretty relaxed atmosphere facing the west side highway. Food was good. Enjoyed brunch. A bit overpriced but nice ambience facing the river.

Closed indefinitely. Does the Unilocal team actually read reviews? I think not. Look what I got in response to the above very helpful review(best not to come by, because it’s not there any more!) Hey Nancy, Loved that tip you left for Bakehouse Bistro & Bar! «Closed indefinitely.» With a few more details you could expand your tip into a full blown review! Your additional insights could help more people learn what’s great(and not so great) about this business. Cheers, — The Unilocal Team Really, guys, «Closed indefinitely» says it all.

I guess I just wasn’t a fan. Pro: If your table mates are late you can cross the west side highway and walk along the hudson river. It was a nice way to spend a few minutes at sunset before my meal. Con: the food. Came here for dinner and nothing I ate commanded my desires for a return trek out here. Apple cider roasted maple brussel sprouts — 4 people split this dish and we didn’t finish. None of us liked it. A little too burnt and a little too sweet. Hand cut french fries with harissa mayo — fries are fries… would be pretty abysmal if you messed up fries. Manchego serrano ham croquettes — Probably my favorite item from the night. Ox tail pappardelle — The best main dish out of 4. Tasty and a good amount of ox-tail. Grilled organic half chicken — I found myself dipping the chicken into the sauces from the fries and croquettes. Wasn’t moist enough, tender enough, nor flavorful enough in my opinion. Spinach risotto — I’m normally a risotto lover and never met a risotto I didn’t like– that is until I had this risotto at bakehouse. I found it boring and on the bland side. We hadn’t ordered this with an intent to share but ended up sharing because leaving one person to plow through an entire dish of «meh» risotto is just cruel. Atlantic salmon — This came with a salad. I found the salad more memorable than the salmon. I’m a bit miffed… Unilocalers seem to like them. I can only assume their brunch/lunch options are better than dinner.

Great food and great service! Came here with two friends. We ordered a few rounds of drinks: their moscow mule which was standard, a drink with lavender and champagne, and then a few mojitos which were good. Our waiter was very attentive. Following the waiter’s recommendation: I ordered the roasted chicken dish even though usually I would never order chicken at a restaurant. It was delicious, but certainly not ASDELICIOUS as the waiter emphasized. Overall, a great… albeit very expensive meal!(Definitely due to the drinks)

Invited my boyfriend out for dinner there. Was not impressed when walking in. Got seeated at a high table. The bartender also took our orders, was really confused and in a rush. When taking orders he only took mine, and had left the table but my boyfriend managed to get hold of him to order. We ordered a starter we would share and then an entrée each. And then we waited. And waited. It took a very loong time, and then they served us all the meals at the same time. The food was okay, but a bit overpriced compared to the place and service. Wouldn’t come back.

We came with a group for dinner and had a pretty great time. We decided to share a few plates instead of ordering individual plates. We got the fries, truffle Mac and cheese, croquettes, pizza, calamari; and meatballs. All were pretty good and easy to share. As for the service, the wait staff was nice but could’ve checked up on us more. We waited a while for more water and to order more food. In terms of atmosphere, Bakehouse plays great music, but not too loud either. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend this to any group looking for a place to catch up.

Okay… this is more like a 3.5 for me. The winning factor for this place is the FOOD… I came here for brunch with one of my closest friends from childhood and her new boyfriend. Between the mushroom truffled omelet and the french toast, everything is exquisite — exactly what you expect of a grand NYC experience. However… this is place goes down due to service. They were super unfriendly to answer our questions about a reservation. As I was waiting to announce our reservation, the hostess was writing something on a pad and ignored me for 5 minutes like I was a ghost. They also put us in a table and then moved us to another table. This New York City on a rainy Sunday for crying out loud — not prime peak time. Should have been better organized and least friendlier.

I went to the Bakehouse with friends for brunch this past weekend. The atmosphere was pleasant, i would have liked to sit outside but it was extremely hot in the sun and there was not a patio cover at all. Our server was nice. He was dressed casually in a t-shirt and shorts. You wouldn’t know he worked there. But it was kind of cool! I had mint lemonade and a mushroom truffle omelet. I would recommend the omelet, not the lemonade. The prices were okay for what we were given, considering we were in the heart of he city. Overall it was nice, just not great

First this post is pretty much based on the food. I ordered a rare steak which at $ 30+ you would expect would come out the way I asked haha. Rare is pretty easy to do. In any case it came out bordering medium well to well done. I don’t really send food back but was very tempted to do so tonight. Finished only about half before losing my appetite. French onion was excellent. Mac and cheese needs a little work as well. French fries were perfect. The service was alright. Staff was friendly but forgetful. But it’s most likely because it was close to closing and we were the last people in the restaurant. It’s a good place to stop if you’re coming off the High Line. Would not recommend spending a lot.

This place is great. On a sunny Sunday, when everything in the Meatpacking District(a block away) was jammed and crazy, we enjoyed cocktails outside, overlooking the river, GREAT friendly server, generous drinks, wonderful atmosphere. Go here after visiting the new Whitney(members get a 10% discount) and avoid the trendy masses a block over.

So, I love the rustic décor of this place and the staff is nice and welcoming… I had the avocado toast and the turkey burger. The toast was so good, actually it was amazing. The turkey burger was dry and tasteless, I wouldn’t order it ever again. My boyfriend ordered the bakehouse burger med rare and I had a bite, it was meh… We had natural fries and mac cheese, two redeeming side dishes(but come on, you can’t really get that wrong) but ultimately I have this place a 3 because the food was short of average.

The bakehouse burger was great. Décor was cool. Service was excellent. Low key locale. Interesting menu. I’d go again!

The interior is that of a cozy french bistro, but tucked away in the far reaches of NY, nestled beside the west side highway. The waitstaff was hilarious– one of the busboys dropped a piece of bread from the bread basket into my Louis in his haste to clear the table and shamefully hung his head as he informed me of the incident. The drinks– they’ve got a fair sized list of cocktails here, but I opted for the tried and true glasses of cabernet. The food– apps– we had a bunch of different ones here, the standout would be the foie gras(on my way to becoming an NYC foie gras gourmand), which was served with crostini and a tart fruit chutney for my entrée I had the tuna nicoise salad, which did not have string beans, sadly, but did feature lovely cuts of half seared tuna. I also had the opportunity to sample the skirt steak with pommel frites, another entrée selection, and that was another class well done. desserts, to my dismay, were forgone, so no comment on those here.

I have to say I’m normally not impressed with a meal start to finish but my second time back to Bakehouse left me incredibly happy. The only negative was the fact that we had no room for dessert. Came in hot and sticky and before a drink I just took a leap and asked if she had iced coffee. It was so delicious, I was floored. The bread was incredible. I’m a bread snob and don’t eat it unless it’s really well done. This was fresh, crispy, soft and amazing. Then the lamb meatballs came out to accompany the bread and the tomato sauce was slightly spicy and just perfect. I had the bakehouse burger and again was just so impressed I almost ate my entire plate start to finish. My friend had the chicken dinner which was moist and so flavorful. The apricot grape quinoa side was light and fresh, and my Belgian tap beer was cold and hit the spot(see picture). Top all of this off with the most friendly service and ambiance(the place is just a diamond in the neighborhood rough), I will recommend bakehouse and will certainly be back.

This was a lovely restaurant. The views of the Hudson were great, the service was terrific and the food was delicious. We came for Father’s Day brunch and were not disappointed. We had: Mushroom Asiago & truffle oil omelet — delicious and very light(I got it with egg whites). Braised Beef Short-Rib Hash — Delicious Burger — my daughter loved it Mac n Cheese — the girls were fighting over it Biscuits & Gravy — delicious but a little heavy on the sausage(I was the only one who thought so) Bacon Bloody Mary — Amazing! The waiter was lovely and gave us good recommendations. The bathrooms were clean. We would love to come back for dinner one night. All and all a great experience.

Little brunch spot just outside of the Village and south of Chelsea that sits right along the West Side Highway to offer partial views of the water and Jersey, and some car traffic. There’s big olé windows inside and a small patio outside for outdoor brunch. We ordered the bread and jam appetizer which was basically hard hero bread with some butter and jam. It would’ve been better if it was warm and soft bread but it was just $ 6 and that’s kinda a steal compared to the other brunch offerings. Don’t expect to find bottomless brunch here either. I had the pancakes and eggs for brunch. The pancakes were a bit dense and tough. My boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs which I happily helped him eat! It was so good and cooked perfectly! Overall, I wasn’t impressed or disappointed so much. It was just another brunch place in a sea of brunches. However, given how far it was from the train, its unlikely I’ll be coming back.

Great comfort food, delicious cocktails and fresh baguettes. All you need in your neighborhood really. Make a brunch reservation and grab a patio seat when its nice out !

If this place was in Jacksonville, I’d probably give it a better rating, but this is New York City, so the stakes are a little higher. I knew I wanted to go to NYC and have brunch on my birthday, so this was a big event for us. We had a large party(8 people) and they were able to accommodate us easily which was nice. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived(we made reservations), but no worries, we headed to the bar to get drinks. They don’t have bottomless deals which is kind of a bummer, so we ordered a bottle of champagne and orange juice to make our own mimosas. The atmosphere is nice(view of the Hudson and bright and spacious, which is hard to come by in NYC). The service was meh, nothing to write home about. They seemed more annoyed by us than anything else. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict. The smoked salmon was really good, as was the side salad it came with, but that was about it. The eggs were undercooked(runny whites) and the English muffin was impossible to cut through gracefully(another person at the table had the same complaint). Next time I come to NYC I’ll try another place for brunch.

A bit off to the far end of the meat packing district you’ll find this spot right on the west side highway servicing the local neighborhood residence buildings primarily. Has a great view of the Hudson River and New Jersey it can be a nice spot to have brunch during the summer months. Came here during the winter and there were plenty of available tables. Great service and nice ambiance. We had the roasted chiken, pork loin special, butternut squash soup, and calamari. The chicken was a standout. Tender and juicy. The pork loin came off kind of dry and my teeth tired out from all the chewing. The calamari and the butternut squash soup were the standouts. If in the area i’d try it out if i wanted a quick bite but as a destination to go eat probably not since it’s so far west.

We were not sure what to expect and went here on a snowy Sunday evening. We got there early like around 6:30. The place smelled great! Was warm and inviting. Our waiter, Charlie, was pleasant, professional and good. We started with a bottle of red and the warm blue cheese appetizer. It was excellent and the bread was too! For dinner I had the skirt steak and it was among the best preperations I’ve ever had. The sides were roasted carrots and asparagus. Perfect. We also ordered a side of roasted brussels sprouts which were equally delicious. My date had the salmon entrée. Simply exquisite. The white Bean ragout it was served on was great. The dessert was the chocolate Moelleux w ice cream and again delicious… so Bakehouse gets my recommendation! Can’t wait to go back.
