Middle-of-the-road grub. Would have felt intimidated if I didn’t have a native Moroccan as a dinner companion. The merguez was pretty fantastic but my chicken and couscous dish was bland and room-temperature, as was my boyfriend’s lamb dish. They were nice enough to compliment us with sweet mint tea and baklava as we left so I guess that makes up for some of the negatives.

Got food poisoning from the chicken shawarma. It wasn’t even that good. I mean, if I’m going to be puking and shitting it out for the next two days, at least make it awesome on the way in. Right?

I decided to try this place after about two months of living just down the road. The food here is good and cheap, and the platters come packed with food. I’m knocking a couple of points off because of just how difficult it is to order here if you’re not physically at the restaurant. Their website has a link to order online, but the link doesn’t work. If you try to call the number listed on their website, it leads to a busy signal. I can’t imagine what the owner of this place is thinking, having a restaurant right in Midtown West that essentially does not provide a method for people to order delivery. There’s also a slight language barrier issue. Maybe it’s a testament to how good the food is that they don’t need to provide delivery. Bottom line — great food, but you’ll have to physically step foot inside the door to enjoy it.

Stumbled into this place late last night, tipsy and hungry. I didn’t know what to order, so I asked the owner what food he had. No chicken, so I bought the lamb sandwich. The sandwich itself was very tasty, and the owners were very nice people. I knocked off 1 star because I did not like lamb meat. There were many portions of lamb that I felt were a little too chewy and I couldn’t swallow, so I had to spit it out. It felt like like chewing on very tasty rubber. You chew and chew and chew but it doesn’t get you anywhere. *shrug*

Ran in and out if here in a rush cos I had just landed and needed food before I died of hunger. Server didn’t speak much English but was helpful on the phone and took my order, letting me have it ready as soon as I entered the door. They also take cc here, which is awesome for cash starved me. The gyro itself was pretty good and well prepared. I wolfed it all down cos I was starving and then didn’t have place for the side of fries. But these were the first fries I saw that were thin like McDonalds though some of them lacked the MD crispness. Overall, a good quick meal from a great little greasy spoon.

Within this narrow storefront, between 47th and 48th, may lie one of Midtown Manhattan’s quintessential unknown dining gems. Virtually everything about Bab Marrakech amazes, from menu selection, quality of food, friendly and competent service to their very reasonable prices. This is a review that I fear writing, as once this place is known, prices will rise, service will drop or portions and quality will plummet. For now, Bab Marrakech is a place to savor. Bassara($ 3), a spiced lima bean purée with olive oil, is their only regular soup offering. Fortunately, it is robust and satisfying. There are an assortment of meal-sized salads($ 5 – 7) and sandwiches($ 5 – 9) which look delicious, but I always opt for a platter(vegetarian: $ 6.50 to combo: $ 14) or tangine($ 9 – 10). A side salad and choice of couscous, rice or fries is served with each. Particular favorites include the chicken bastilla(a baked pastry filled with chicken and almonds), merguez sausage and lamb tangine. The food has always been tasty, fresh and from what I’m told, quite authentic. Enjoy this place before everybody begins to find out about it!

Everything is great about this place and the fries taste just like McDonalds fries. Really, the only negative is that from walking up the street it looks like the store’s name is Moroccan Grill.

Just an update, ordering through their website has been an interesting experience. I seem to get something different every time. I got a gyro on a grinder and a falafel sandwich without any vegetables. I would either call the restaurant or just go in person in the future.

This place will give you the most bang for your buck & the lamb gyro is delicious! For $ 6, you get a lamb gyro, a full plate of fries & a free soda. You CANNOT beat that, especially the fact that they put a good amount of meat in the gyro, lettuce tomato, the white sauce, onions etc. Also, they deliver & last time I called for delivery, they didn’t even charge me the $ 8 minimum. I order from here at least once a month!

My friends and I came here on a whim tonight in search of good cheap food, and we ended up enjoying it. The veggie falafel was really good, so was the mint tea; the salad was kind of stingy on the dressing. It was a little tiny inside, but the employees were all super nice and they had Al Jazeera on, so overall I’d call it a win.

Live across the street and just went for the first time. So glad I did! Awesome veggie falafel for only $ 5, includes fries and can of soda. Employees were very nice. Was kinda in a hurry and thought it would be ‘fast food’ but it was made to order and worth the wait. I’ll be back! Just got take-out, 3 days later. Still yummy!

Popped in and had a lamb pita and merquez sausage pita. Both were pretty good. Tender meat and flavorful, everything was fresh. Service was friendly and the prices were fair.

Yummm! How have I never heard of this place? Tonight, Balkanika was too busy to deliver, and I’m so glad they were because we ended up trying Bab Marrakech. The hummus was great– very homemade tasting, lots of lemonyness. We wanted a fish tagine but they were out and suggested the salmon platter. The salmon was cooked well and the salad was really good. The fries were soggy but that’s to be expected. Definitely will be ordering again! I need to try the falafel sandwich!

The employees are extremely nice, maybe some of the nicest ones I’ve encountered in the city. The $ 5 falafel, fries and drink deal is great. They use a ranch-type sauce on their falafel. I told the counter person that I don’t eat dairy, and he used a vinaigrette dressing instead. I never would have thought vinaigrette on a falafel would taste good, but it was delicious! The fries are amazing too. I feel bad that they have to compete with nearby Azuri. I like supporting businesses that are friendly and appreciative of my $ unlike Azuri, so Bab is better in my opinion.

After a long stressful day of work, I wanted a feast, so my friend and I asked the incredibly friendly man behind the counter if he could give us a both a sampler of pretty much everything on the whole menu — we agreed upon a price, then we agreed upon the portions: 6 falafel balls, 4 lamb chops, 4 merguez sausages, 2 koufta patties, 2 sides of spinach, 2 sides of carrots, 2 teas, 1 fish steak, and a plate of creamed rice with tuna… Honestly, it was all hearty, fresh, and delicious.

Morrocan Grill on 10th. Ave around the corner from the Sullivan St. bakery mecca. A narrow restaurant displaying beautiful marinated meats. Pick your meat to grill like lamb chops, lamb cubes, chicken or beef patties. A very gracious owner brings over your meal. $ 7.00 sandwich of meat on a roll or pita with fries or salad is a good value. I added on some carrots marinated in Morrocan spices. The sandwich on pita contained delicious meats that was covered by a white sauce and a little lettuce and tomato. The frittes were serviceable and carrots tasty. I would go back for naked meats as without the dressing, those meats are the star here.

Great Moroccan food, good price, friendly staff. Friends and I went walking up 10th street in Hell’s Kitchen looking for a place to eat. Saw a sign that said $ 5 Falafel sandwich, fries, soda special and it won me over. The food was amazing(check out the photos). They cook it all to order, even the falafel. The fries were good, and… the sprite was sprite. The sandwich was juicy, and the falafel was packed with flavor. My friend had the lamb chops, which are 4 lamb chops with rice and salad for $ 10(good price)! He loved it. We all live in the area, and we were hooked for sure. The sandwiches here range from $ 5 – 8, and the platters range from $ 8 – 10. The salads are $ 5 – 6. The eating area is kind of small, but it seems like most people order to go here. We sat and ate and it looked like the place could fit about 15 people. You order first, get your food, eat first, and then pay by going to the counter(this is a little out of the norm– but pretty cool I guess). The service was great for a place that doesn’t have any waiters! Check out the photos for some of the food we ate. This place is good for a nice, chill lunch where you can afford to wait about 10 minutes for food. Friendly counter guys. I’m a fan.

Friendliest counter people in all of HK, and one of the best falafel sandwiches in the city.
