LOVE this nail salon… I have long acrylic perm. French nails… I have been to many nail salons in NYC who claim they do acrylic and use gel and powder which lasts 4 days on me… Edward here does a BEAUTIFUL job on my nails… I always leave there Happy… which I usually am no happy after leaving a NYC nail salon because I am a picky princess when it comes to my nails… And their prices are the best I have seen in the neighborhood.

This place went under a name change this past week, to Susan Nail Salon. I came by here yesterday because they were having a «Grand Opening» special. Little did I realize that the whole staff was really unprofessional. Most of the front nail booths were taken up by the Asian staff, prepping and practicing nails on each other. I needed a mani/pedi pretty badly, so that is also why I didn’t leave. When I was seated in the foot spa chair, the man was doing my nails so lightly, and the water in the spa wasnt even lukewarm. I tried to tell him, but he didnt understand me. Within five minutes, he had an older lady with glasses take over. She was just looking at me funny the whole time while I was on my phone. Half way through her painting my toes, she had a THIRD girl come by and finish. I seriously wanted to just walk out but I didn’t. I dont even know why I let them work on my fingernails. Whole process cost me $ 21 dollars. Not bad, but I am definitely never stepping foot in here again!

i told myself i wouldn’t be getting a mani/pedi’s in the city because i know in brooklyn it’s much cheaper, but since it was the closest nail salon to me, i decided to give it a try. plus the price list said $ 18 for a mani/pedi. — pretty good price considering i pay $ 16 in bk. anyways, the lady who did my nails, susan, she was nice, but a little bit rough. didn’t really like the way she handled me. the actual/mani pedi itself turned out quite nice, but still… it’s about technique. and it’s a bit dirty in there. they really need to do a major cleaning or buy some new furniture. it made me question their sterilization techniques. not something i really should be thinking about while i’m getting my nails did. =T

Unless she’s found it already, every girl in New York is looking for their«go-to» nail place. That is, where, the prices are good, the«pick a color» wall is robust, the ladies are pleasant, and you feel relatively clean when you leave. Unfortunately, there are very few in the East Village /LES area. I’ve been here for over two years and have never found anything worth repeating.(But I have found a place that I walked out of after the pedicure MAN did such a bad job, and I felt so dirty, that I walked across the street and had another place re-do it.) Nail Salon on Ave A between 13th and 14th is nothing to write home about. In fact, it’s probably the 3rd dirtiest place where I’ve had my nails done. But, the two women were sweet, they did an excellent job, and the mani-pedi was $ 18! Unheard of. I found this place while trying to find another nail place on Ave A(which I will most likely go to next, since I found it while on my way back from Nail Salon…) But, if you’re feeling the economy and you’re not too disturbed by a relatively dirty nail salon(I’ll update my post if I end up with some type of fungal infection…) then this is a great place to go.
