Quaint sushi restaurant, excellent food nothing fancy, great service. Tempura shrimp was light and flaky, sashimi fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended

We came upon this little sushi place because it was pretty empty and since it was so small we didn’t mind. Also the prices where ok for sushi. California rolls 4.95 $. Another reason we came was because I really needed to use the bathroom. The lady told me it was towards the back. If you need to use the bathroom here! You’ll need to walk through the kitchen through a narrow hallway where you’ll see a bunch of canned soda. I got to the end of the hall way where the bathroom door was and saw 2 Asian men sitting having a lunch break. The bathroom was fairly clean. The waitress was very nice and she was consistent. I ordered just regular Cali rolls and my fiancé ordered a combo shown in the pictures which I can’t remember. It contained spicy salmon avocado and a sushi roll with caviar. The bubble tea was amazing. I love the honey dew and he got the taro. The Tampico was great I always taste that first. But they seemed a little small. All together we payed 30 $. To me this place is great for a couple not for groups. 2 it’s also better on an empty night I don’t like crowds! While we where there a family of 8 people plus children came in. The waitress asked these 2 men if they could rearrange their seats and sit at another table. Me and my fiancé was like oh hell no we wouldn’t get up. I saw it in the mans faced that he wAs frustrated about this. He placed the chops sticks in his mouth grabbed his coat and went to the other table. This is why I give the restaurant 3 stars. No one wants to get up and move once you sit at a table that’s your spot. Me and my fiancé thought why would a huge family come to such a small restaurant? This restaurant isn’t for groups. If you come with a groups best to keep the party at 4. The interior is cute and cozy And I liked the low Japanese music in the back ground.

My 9 year old daughter and I went there yesterday. It was an emergency she was feeling ill and asked to use their bathroom. I offered to purchase something in order to compensate since most place do not allow you to use their facilities without purchase. They flat out refused. They did not care that this little girl was sick, they wanted no part of it and asked us to leave. THEYWEREINCREDIBLYRUDE! NOTCHILDFRIENDLY. DONOTBOTHERTOGIVEBUSINESSTOTHESEHEARTLESSINDIVIDUALS. Based on other reviews below it seems their staff are just as mean to adult as they are to little kids. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Time for another real time review, folks! I just ordered a Super Devil Roll(Crunchy crabmeat, tamago & cucumber inside, salmon & avocado on the top), a Samuri Roll(Eel, king crab, seaweed salad inside, and tuna avocado on top), and a Spicy Triple Roll(Spicy tuna, spicy salmon, spicy yellowtail top with salmon and avocado). It’s supposed to arrive between 1:55&2:10 pm. Let us see… :-) Just shy of 40 minute max delivery estimate. nice delivery guy. just sushi and soy sauce(definitely not low-sodium) in the bag — no salad or miso. At this price tag, they could throw it in. But such is life. beautiful rolls! Visually stunning! And a solid eight pieces per roll. That Samurai roll was off the chain!!! The addition of the seaweed salad inside the roll added a lovely flavor and texture treat, which you don’t typically get in sushi. I’m glad I paired it with white rice, as I don’t think the nutty essence of brown would’ve compliment the ingredients. I could’ve eaten a second roll! Nice choice! Super Devil Roll: interesting… though I wouldn’t repeat. There is no crunch to the crabmeat innards… just mushy. Some flavor… but not what the description sets you up to experience. Oh, snap! Wait. They mixed up my rolls! They put the Devil innard with the Triple outer, and vice versa… ah…Now I get it. Had they been set up with their proper compliments, they might’ve both been better rolls. Still, that’s a no bueno mix up for a sushi place… hmmmm… Hmm…for sushi alone… I’d give them a solid 3-stars…but 2.5-stars in reality for that mix up, especially when I’m dropping nearly $ 50 for a splurge lunch. Never had that happen in all my years of sushi eating… then again, maybe that’s what we get for eating Americanized fancy pants rolls ;-)

No major complaints; it was absolutely run of the mill. My friends got their respective sushi rolls with salmon and eel and were happy. I was admittedly pleased that they did lunch specials on the weekends; I was able to score a pretty tasty and filling Chicken Katsu Bento Box for about $ 9. That’s all she wrote.

Very affordable and huge portions for Japanese food. Delicious and well-made, fresh. The teriyaki salmon dinner bento box came with TWO pieces of salmon of generous size — I have never gotten two with any bento box anywhere else! Great big pot of fragrant green tea. The sushi mix plate was also large and generous. Definitely coming back!

Ordered from this place on Seamless. The portion for the food was nice, larger than what I expected, but what really ruined it for me was the delivery guy. He was a complete ASSHOLE. I work at an office building with a receptionist. The moment I went over to pick up my order however, the delivery guy started ranting, raving, and complaining like a mad man about how he was parked outside and that I didn’t pick up when he called. He also stood there expecting me to give him tip when the bill already included tip. When I just signed the paper indicating the receipt of the order, he went off huffing and ranting some more. I’m sorry, but when I’m ordering from a restaurant, I have no desire to deal with this kind of crap. It’s a bad reflection of the restaurant and there is no way in hell, I intend to order from this place again, or even bother to recommend it to anyone else. Aru Sushi, you need to address your delivery person’s nasty attitude. The only reason why I’m even giving 2 stars is because of the portion of the food ordered.

Nothing spectular about the service or food but definitely one of the better bento box combos I’ve seen in the area. Their $ 9.50 bento box includes an entrée, rice, shumai, salad, soup, AND4 pieces of California roll(no substitutions)!

My boyfriend and I frequent this place. Service is phenomenal, and the sushi is the best I’ve had ever. The only problem is its too small and cramped. Expect to be seated 5 inches in between others staring in your plate and overhearing your conversations and knocking your table over getting up and getting seated. Other than that great place!

This is my go-to Japanese place in the area. It’s the only place nearby with good bubble tea! My boyfriend and I are huge fans of the mushroom and beef udon, teriyaki dishes and their sushi. Everything is fresh and cooked well. I’ve never been disappointed by the food. The portions are big too! The restaurant is small and nothing fancy, but the service is friendly and quick. The prices are not that bad either.

Don’t really understand all the negative reviews! This is my go-to place on Seamlessweb when I’m craving sushi — literally order from here at least once a week. The prices are affordable, the quality is decent, and the service is quick. Sure, it’s not gourmet fish or anything, but I mean… you get what you pay for. I can’t really comment on the actual restaurant, since I only ever order delivery. I have walked past it a few times, and it seems to be a standard, bare-bones sushi joint. Average!

Great delivery/take out, not as great for dine-in. The rice consistency is nice and moist. The fish has always been fresh(as opposed to some of the reviews here state). I’ve ordered about 5 times and plan to order many more. If you are dining-in, the service is quick and friendly. It simply is not the right atmosphere for any kind of «date».

This sushi place has bad sushi. Tragic. The hamachi sashimi I ordered was not fresh at all and the four pieces of sushi in the sushi appetizer were not that much better. No wonder this place is virtually empty every time I pass by. The one good thing on their menu is bubble tea. The Green Tea Bubble Tea I had was really good. Not too sweet and the tapioca not too chewy. I hope the owners realize where their true talents lie and turn this place into a tea house before it’s too late(!)

Take out for lunch is okay. I ordered the maki lunch combo of shrimp tempura rolls and eel avocado rolls with the salad for $ 8. Order a third extra roll, the combo is $ 10.50. The rolls are satisfying for a growling stomach. But quality and ‘mmmm’ so delicious is lacking. The place is small and service is very friendly and prompt. Just two tables were taken during lunch time on a Tuesday, a couple and a solo. Come here if you are looking for quiet and want to take a quick lunch.

Normally, I’m a very forgiving guy when presented with Chinese-style sushi. I’ve passed Aru several times in the past month and was wondering why there are always nearly no patrons inside. The dining room seeming inviting enough, so my friend and I walked in. From the looks of things there were plenty of waiters to serve us, they were just idle and chatting amongst themselves. I decided to have the deluxe sashimi, which was reasonably priced, as I remember, about $ 18. It took a while to get our entrees after we had eaten our salad, which tasted okay. However when the sashimi came, it was a big disappointment. Here is a case where size does matter. Unfortunately, they managed to cut every piece of fish down to bite size and also included on my sashimi entrée was a lump of spicy tuna, which is exactly what you would get inside a spicy tuna roll. I don’t know but I don’t consider that to be sashimi. Also, in another huge disappointment, the mackerel was the kind that was nearly fully cooked through with a vinegary flavor. I’ve had these before in non-New York sushi restaurants and it was horrible. It didn’t belong on a sashimi dish, shame… shame… To top things off service was sporadic, which I can’t blame the restaurant for because perhaps the waiters don’t have that many customers to serve in the first place. I’m always willing to give things a try, but for Aru, I’m glad it will be my only try.

Pearl on Sushi is what this place is still listed as on Seamless Web. I didn’t realize it was called Aru Sushi until I went to post a review here on Unilocal. I ordered a lunch to be delivered from here. The price point is decent… Pick two rolls along with soup or salad, for under $ 10 if I remember correctly. The california roll(which I always order as a safety fall-back roll from new places) was good. I’m glad I included it, though, because I couldn’t eat the other roll. The tuna/mango roll just didn’t look right. The fish was gray-ish in color and after one bite, didn’t taste right. I trashed it. I was, on the other hand, very pleased with the miso soup. Big helping with fresh seaweed and good amounts of tofu. Not enough to save the day for this place in my eyes though.
