Area Id

I recently went to Area ID to get an animal hide rug matted. After having a zebra skin rug without an attached mat, the hide was starting to fray and tear.
After contacting numerous places in NYC (to no avail), I went in and asked Inga if she knew someone who could mat it properly. (They sell numerous zebra skins, among other fantastic pieces.) I’d stopped in Area iD many times just to browse and finally realized that it might be a good idea to inquire there. …Not only could Inga refer me to someone, but (luckily!) she could even have her person do it for me.
Flash forward to about two weeks later, when I picked up the new (BEAUTIFULLY matted) rug and I could not be happier! Inga is a consummate professional and her craftsman went above and beyond to do an exceptional, beautiful job.
I definitely recommend stopping in, to appreciate the fine housewares and exotic pieces. Additionally, if you have a random item that needs repair or maintenance, you should definitely ask Inga!

This eclectic modern shop is chock full of great finds — I wouldn’t say that things here are terribly affordable for most, but the quality of the furnishings and decorative items in this store is very high. In a world where modern = bland, there are many unique items here that fit the shopper who is looking for something a little more interesting than what west elm/​cb2/​ikea has to offer. Shopkeeper Inge (sp?) is a very knowledgeable and charming guide.
