Amazing. Ginger snapper is out of control… Good taste in music…

I went to Antique Café on a BuyWithMe voucher and it was a disappointment. For a place that is supposedly known for their baked goods, I was looking forward to the Baked French Toast. I could have done a better job at home with good old Wonder Bread. It was 4 triangles with a place strawberry sauce. My pal ordered the Chicken Cranberry Salad that was gloppy with mayo. Lastly we tried their Magic Bar which tasted as if it had been in a stale fridge for over a week! I would avoid this place. Nice spot but the food is lacking!

My cute but naïve husband bought a coupon for this place without first turning to Unilocal.Big mistake. We went for dinner, and here goes: First thing you notice about this place is the smell. It smells like old and stale frying oil — both outside on the patio, as well as inside the restaurant(even worse inside). So we opted to sit outside on the patio. We ordered crabcakes as appetizer, and a salmon burger and steak frites for entrees. I think the only item we liked on our plates was the greens on the side; the dressing was good. The crab cakes were too fishy tasting for crab. The salmon burger tasted suspiciously like the the crab cakes. The steak was overcooked and was more like a shoe sole than a steak. It said 10oz on the menu; this could’ve not been more than 6. The accompanying peppercorn sauce was more like a greasy vinaigrette. And the fries didn’t even taste like fries; they were oversalted and had a weird aftertaste; probably from the stale frying oil. Presentation on all dishes was horrible. Service was fine, aside from the fact that our waiter didn’t really seem engaged, didn’t ask me how I liked my steak cooked, and didn’t come back to check on us after serving. He also messed up our bill; there was a dish on there we didn’t order. To top things off, in the middle of my meal, someone threw a burning cigarette out the window of the apartment complex above the restaurant, which landed smackdown in the middle of my plate(thankfully not on me!). It seems like this place is holding itself in business through selling coupons. It must be on its hind legs though; there’s never anyone there when we’ve walked past it. Thank god we had a coupon, because the above mentioned meal sells at Antique for $ 50. Which is absolutely ridiculous for the quality of food you get here. Prices at Antique are WAY too high for what you get. Save your money and go elsewhere. Actually, scratch that. RUN elsewhere! Yuck. I wouldn’t go back here if they paid me.

Went here for breakfast. Had the fresh fruit cup, French toast, and 2 egg plate. Food was just mediocre, and overpriced for what you get. Portions on the egg plate were small, and the fruit cup was $ 6 for just melon, grapes, and pineapple(no strawberries even though they included them on the French toast). Coffee was underwhelming. Cute décor, nice atmosphere, and decent service, but not worth coming back.

This place is decent if you’re looking for a low key brunch spot. Somethings to note: The place isn’t huge so try to get there early, it doesn’t seem like they can cater to more than one group of people(5 – 6 people) at a time. Its affordable, the coffee is really good and just an overall cute spot to take a date.

Review is based purely on the food quality. We got one of those coupon deals($ 50 worth of food for $ 20) so you can’t really go wrong with that. I had the Tuna Nicoise salad and I request that the tuna be cooked rare. What a mistake on my part, the tuna tasted fishy and obviously was not fresh. The place is loaded with a wide variety of baked goods of which probably none of them taste that great. I had a chocolate chip banana walnut muffin, which they nuked in the microwave prior to serving me. The muffin was too hot to handle with my fingers when it was served. It also tasted like it was pre-packaged pastry. We also had a magic bar(aka 7 layer bar) also disappointing as the chocolate chips looked and tasted waxy –ie like the bar was hanging around on the self for an extended period of time. The place was nice and empty, which typically isn’t a good thing… but at least my friend and I didn’t feel bad just hanging out there and we had pretty good service. The mimosas are also pretty on par.

SODISAPPOINTEDINYOU, ANTIQUECAFE! I bought a buywithme $ 20 for $ 50 worth of food to eat here. I was hesitant because antique café has had some type of deal on ALL of the deal websites(groupon, livingsocial, buywithme, ETC) and I just thought… damn they must be desperate for business. But, I’m an artist, aka poor, so $ 20 for $ 50 worth of anything sounds good to me. My mom came into town for her bday and I wanted to take her out to a lunch I could treat her to, so I thought, Antique Café it is, since I have that coupon. Here’s what we got… I got a grilled cheese sandwich. This is listed as an appetizer so you would think it would come out quickly, but it actually came out AFTER everyone else’s food, and the cheese was not even MELTED! IT was 2 slices of white bread with 2 pieces of cheese in ebtween. I couldn’t even eat it. How fucking hard is it to make ag rilled cheese sandwich? HOWCANYOUOWN A RESTAURANTANDNOTKNOWHOWTOMAKEGRILLEDCHEESE? I was pissed but tried not to show it because it was my mom’s bday. ALSO I got a coffee and there were flakes of god knows what floating in it. took one sip and I was done. My mom got the«8 oz angus burger» OH…8 oz, really??? Out comes here compeltely overcooked blackened burger… Let me just say getting a burger from Mcdonalds is a bigger portion than this one was. It literally had to be 2 oz at most. And itw as disgustingly dry and the bun was about 25x the size of it. She hated it. My boyfriend got the chicken tacos… they weren’t tacos, but in fact, taquitos. They were ok, but I definitely could’ve made them at home and saved the 15 bucks. My sister got a cobb salad and had no complaints… but how hard is it to mess up cutting up vegetables and throwing them together on a plate? Even after the coupon, it sitll came to 40 bucks(we also got appetizers)…ripoff, understaffed restaurant, and horrible food. Worst food I’ve had in NY to date.

Came here for breakfast because we had a groupon. The coffee was bad, they were out of a lot of things including Chai… The breakfasts themselves were all wrong. Too much of some ingredients and not enough of others. This was the review amongst all five of us, each who had ordered different things. Maybe the pastries are better but the coffee and hot breakfasts’ are not worth going here again.

SUPER spotty service. First waiter pretty much ignored us. The other waiter we had must’ve been preoccupied with something super important — perhaps pre-midlife crisis or post-break up thoughts. Dropped a fork, confused our order of guacamole for just avocado slices on a salmon burger, yada yada. Ordered the chicken club sandwich(or whatever it’s called) and the chicken was super dry. Guacamole was good but I make it better so why am I going to pay you 9 bucks for that? Coffee’s good. Brownie was SUPER dense — like 8lb dumbbell dense. Couldn’t bring myself to take another bite after 3 bites. Thanks to our preoccupied second waiter, our bill was only a little under 4 dollars thanks to a Tenka deal. However, he didn’t notice we had a deal for $ 50 bucks worth of food for $ 20. Mistakened it for a voucher of $ 50 dollars worth of food. Hope he doesn’t find me here! *bites nails

Slow service, Awful music. And sub-par food. I’m easy to please, and this place was so bad it inspired me to sign up for Unilocal just to review this place

I was drawn in by the egg sandwich, because I’d read a great review, but I fell in love because of the coffee. Being in from out of town, I wanted to avoid the touristy places and the national chains. I wanted something uniquely New York and that’s what I found. The café had great ambiance. The guy behind the counter was friendly(and cute), and the food was excellent. I had a seat at a small table in a comfortable wing-back chair. I felt like I was dining in someone’s dining room rather than a café. The egg sandwich was of course delicious, but the coffee ROCKS! I was between meetings so I didn’t get to spend much time there, but it was a place I could have easily parked with my laptop and worked on my novel. I can’t wait to go back.

Ok, this review is actually for the 1st of May(I know, I know… but my experience was so poor, that I just had to write and tell you when I got the time). We were staying in Manhatten for a friends birthday, thought we’d try it out… yada yada. I had looked up breakfast/coffee joints close to our Fashion District hotel from home… this place looked cute, reviews were average to middling… we didn’t want anything fancy anyways, plus we knew where it was… always an added bonus. So, since we were a little pressed for time, we decided that after waiting for 5 mins at the counter(while the woman there made iced tea or something in front of us without saying a single word to us in the meantime… I mean, what’s up with that?), we had better order coffee and breakfast to go, as we were expecting said friends arrival at our hotel’s lobby in the near future… yada yada. So we ordered… a muffin for my wife and the muesli to go for me(inc honey, according to the menu), an iced mocha for my wife, and my hot latte… I re-asserted that it should be a hot latte after the woman asked me twice… cool… sorted… right? Anyway, my wife is handed a paper bag… which we both assume has all of the breakfast items in it… there weren’t two bags after all. Meanwhile, guy brings out drinks, both drinks are iced… ok, we haven’t got time to get the drink remade, I swallow annoyance… move on. We walk half a block when my wife starts thinking the bag feels rather light, we check… no muesli. We head back, and presto, muesli is pulled out from back counter, put in a bag and apologies are made… lady there also sees my drink, and remembers that it wasn’t meant to be iced… more apologies made… yada yada. She offered to remake it, so that’s cool, didn’t have the time though. Not a good effort all round… and considering the espresso in our drinks seemed over extracted and bitter, and so I threw most of mine away, and there was no honey in the muesli(which was otherwise fine… meh). My wife enjoyed her muffin though. Considering everything, I wouldn’t go back next time I’m visiting… not on the weekend anyway… maybe the weekday staff are better? Most of it is just poor communication between staff, and poor technique at the espresso bar. Easily fixed. Get’s an extra point for cuteness, and it’s apologetic weekend staff… I’m a softy at heart… really I am. P’s. Apologies for all the yada yada’s… it was NY after all:)

My lunch wasn’t good, so I wasn’t happy when I smelled like it for the rest of the day. Not a favorite and, despite the location close to my office, I say«nay.» Go have a lunch-worth of macarons instead.

Great place to have a tasty lunch. You can order paninis/sandwiches or make a plate from the food displayed behind the glass. I love it when you can see the food you’re about to eat. Every meal comes with salad. Menu usually includes cinnamon butternut squash, cranberry turkey, eggplant parmigiana, garlic salmon, quiche, and more. They also have a good selection of simple sweets(cookies, cupcakes…). There’s some seating, but go to the one on 26th and 6th Ave for more seating and/or outdoor seating

My new base out of which I’ll now work. Very laid back atmosphere with comfy seating, and it doesn’t get very crowded. Prices are not great, but very reasonable. Coffee is good. They actually have beer, and it too is reasonably priced. And the best part: they have free wi-fi that actually WORKS! Seriously, it WORKS at this place. It’s secured, but they give you the password when you buy something, and off you go. They’re also cool with people parking with their laptops for hours on end, as long as you’re buying coffees or food or something on occasion. It’s wonderful. Okay, well, actually, the best part is the people watching. It’s in the fashion district across the street from the Fashion Institute, so there are lots of really interesting people floating around.(Interesting to look at, not necessarily to, you know, talk to…) There’s the gay guy wearing spandex and staring an inordinate amount of time at my laptop(yes, my laptop), the avant-garde fashionstas whose new dress belongs at the MoMA, the conservative old man who accidentally stumbled into Manhattan and can’t comprehend What In Sam Hill Is Going On Here, the house-frau getting her complicated latte with 13,000 quirks in how it must be made while a little poodle pokes its head out of her purse, and so on. Seriously — good coffee, beer, food, and the best New York has to offer in people watching. Why aren’t you there RIGHTNOW?

This was a staple of mine while I was going to school at FIT. If it wasn’t so convenient(and a notch better than the other café place across the street), I probably wouldn’t even remember its name. Coffee is a little overpriced for what you get, but hey, they obviously make enough off us FIT kids to be closed on the weekends! What gives this place 4 stars is the guys who work there. They seem to remember everyone, or at least me, although I don’t know if it’s just a nice act or they really do. Regardless, they’re always super nice and usually pretty quick when they know you’re pressed for time to get to class.

Charming décor and very friendly service. Went on a Tuesday afternoon just to find a place outside of the afternoon winds. The jazz standards and quiet atmosphere definitely combine for a very relaxing time. The pastry cabinet was chock full of different sweets, but I had the calamari, which was plentiful and tasty. My friend had some chocolate coconut cake, which was nice, but a little too rum-tasting for my taste. Definitely a nice and relaxing place to catch up with a friend.

Cute Cute Cute– we had breakfast at this café and it was good. I didn’t try their coffee but the breakfast was good and filling. My friend had breakfast as well and they were satisfied. I would stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.

Homey café full of FIT students getting their java on and grabbing a bite between classes. They offer a lot of pastries, omeletes and such. Unfortunately I ordered a chai latte here, and I’m a bit particular on how I like my chai. They serve it up nice and hot, but entirely too sweet. Regardless, the fellas behind the counter were very efficient and friendly.
