Annick Goutal

Very good service and helped me figure out six very different fragrances that were top of my list and then I came back with my boyfriend and narrowed it down to the one I bought. It’s a lovely scent, and I didn’t feel pressured to buy.
The service was kind of hilariously amusing the second visit, in that she accidentally told me 2 times in a row with 2 different perfumes that it was her absolute favorite, and she tends to use the word «we» when she means «you,» but that just added to the whole hilarious experience. :) (E.g., «Have we shopped here before?» and «Now we’ll wave our arms in the air a bit.»)
But overall very happy and I’m enjoying my new scent.

One star for the service. Sales woman was extremely obnoxious.
I had purchased a new rose perfume but decided to return it about ten min later due to my annoyance and went and spent my money next door at Bond No 9 instead and very happy with my decision.

Wonderful selection of scents. The service was excellent. Visiting the shop left a nice, pleasing vibe which lingers every time I spritz at home. Lovely place.

Annick Goutal scents are wonderful. I’m just here to review the shopping experience. For me, it’s all about the sales associates’ attitudes. I can buy almost anything I like on line, so if I don’t feel welcome in a shop, why in the world would I buy anything there? And I’m always a little skittish in high-​end shops because I didn’t grow up with money, and a tiny part of me still expects attitude. I went to the Annick Goutal boutique twice this week, with very specific missions. The first time was to try 5 or 6 scents that I was curious about. The second visit was to skin-​test two scents and compare them.
First visit: buzzed in by the most beautiful, elegant –almost formal– young woman. She really knew her stuff when I asked for details about certain scents. If she wasn’t 100% certain, she looked up the information for me. And simply the way she said «Mandragore» (a deep «mahn-​dwa-​gohhr») made me want to buy the perfume! Beautiful accent.
On my second visit, I was helped by a more chatty, casual, and very sweet associate. Both experiences were wonderful. Same routine each time, asking if I was familiar with the line, asking what AG scents I wore, offering the cap for an initial smell. This tells me that staff is very well and carefully trained. I am not a high maintenance shopper, so I got what I wanted from my visits very quickly. But I’m fairly certain that if I needed lots of guidance and assistance, it would have been expertly provided. Very nice experience.

Just called them up and had a wonderful interaction, and sale, with Katherine. People are wondering to buy Annick Goutal products, this would be the place. Great!

It took me years to choose my signature scent. I tried Chanel, Hermes and other iconic brands but when I finally discovered Annick Goutal, I knew I found something special. I’ve been wearing the same scent for years, re-​stocking whenever I’m in Paris.
I was thrilled when I found out they opened their first store in North America right in NYC. I decided to add another scent and the charming French saleswoman in the store was a true professional, patient and had a nose for perfume. She helped me narrow the scents and then tested several on me to see how they «developed» against my body chemistry. I selected a new sexy scent with gorgeous complex notes that I know I’ll love for a long time. The personalized service in the store is exceptional compared to going to a department store.

I had been eyeing Annick Goutal perfumes online ever since a good friend of mine (who swears by AG) recommended the brand. On my trip to NYC I was fortunate enough to stop in the store itself and pick the fragrance that was best suited to me. Fran was amazing and walked me through the different scents based on the tones that I typically gravitate towards. I ended up leaving with Petite Cherie, and could not be happier! Will be back in the future to add more AG scents to my collection.

Annick Goutal (AG) perfumes are a girly-girl’s dream.
In less than 30 years they have become the cult-​brand hunter’s perfume of choice rivaling old-​world powerhouses like Chanel, Nina Ricci, CREED and countless others. It’s easy to see why since
AG perfumes are easily the most pure in their essences and smells, with perfumes which really do smell like pure roses, or pure violets or pure orange blossoms.
Mind you how those scents will smell on you will of course differ from person to person since that’s how really good perfume works, it works with your own body smells creating something unique and it takes some testing and shopping around to see which perfumes will work for you personally.
Personally I love smelling like roses, even if it is a bit old-​fashioned. I like sticking to things you can’t go wrong with so while on a spontaneous weekend trip to NYC, I decided to go check out the only free-​standing Annick Goutal store in North America. Mind you, this isn’t the only spot that sells AG perfumes; at most finer department stores there is usually an AG counter but I find the experience of visiting the home-​store is usually more personalized.
Located literally next door to Magnolia Bakery (of cupcake fame) in NYC West Village fashionably fabulous Bleecker Street, it’s a small store with the entire line of AG products on the offering. The salesgirl, Rosa was really friendly and even gave me a free «Rose Absolue» candle with my purchase. Now, the only thing missing from my AG collection is the «Violette» perfume and I’m good to go.
It’s not cheap BUT if you really want to give yourself something special, you can’t go wrong with an Annick Goutal perfume.
