Cute little wine bar in the West Village. There are so many places to choose from in the area and I don’t think this one stands out as particularly amazing, but I do like the atmosphere and the exposed brick on the walls. The candles and eclectic music selection added to the intimate nature of the space. I came here recently on a date and it took us a while to realize you had to go up to the bar to order-servers do not come around to take your order if you’re seated at the tables. It’s a cute spot to come on a date; lighting is low, it’s loud but not so loud you can’t have a discussion, and you can walk around the West Village before/after.

Cute little wine bar in the west village, but nothing to rave about. They have a very limited, albeit interesting and obscure selection of red wines by the glass(they have a little wider selection for bottles). The cheese plate and the pesto crostinis were pretty good(more like a cracker than a crostini, but the pesto was delicious). Cute ambiance… the high tables and leather couches are quite comfy. It gets quite busy as the night progresses, but nothing too crazy(especially if you have a table). Worth trying as a pre /post dinner spot.

im really impressed by this place. walk in and one of the first things i notice is they’re playing great hip-hop music. dig. intimate lighting and couples whispering, who all cleared out at 11 pm to «have sex and pop an ambien»(yes, i said that out loud to the bartender. that’s who i am.) service was extremely friendly and attentive. she recommended a «refreshing, funky» white wine that paired well with the wine & meat platter. served with a little thing of pesto and plenty of bread. thank you, i hate places that skimp on bread. i enjoyed sampling different flavor combinations, all of which made for a variety of flavor explosions in my mouth. frankly i wish i was a more sophisticated taster and remember-er of the things i eat so i could dive in deeper. haha oh well. ignorant Unilocal reviewer till i die, am i right :) this was the perfect taste of new york culture i had sorely missed down in the Caribbean. all in all i felt right back at home coming into this place. thanks.

Nice small spot with delicious snacks and a lot of drink options. Service was also friendly. One star off for not having any kind of happy hour specials.

Excellent wine bar. I have been a few times and it has never disappointing me. Mostly seating space but some standing room at the bar as well. Pros: Great wine selection(even has orange wines), attentive service, exclusive atmosphere, sophisticated well-dressed crowd. Cons: Not in my neighborhood. Why must all the cutest places be in West Village? :-P

Fantastic wine selection. Esoteric bottles from wonderful places in the world. Half priced magnums after midnight, great bonus for hard working sommeliers looking for a night cap(or two… three…four)

Caught up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. Perfect venue — not too crazy and could carry on a good dish session without screaming. Great list of wines by the glass, loved the cheese plate. Would definitely come back.

Very disappointed with this wine bar staff. I needed to ask the bartender to open a new bottle of Rioja because what I tasted was way too oxidized. She reluctantly opened a new bottle but the problem was that she poured the rest of the rejected bottle into the newly opened bottle after she poured my new glass! This is going against any wine tasting rationale ever.

Great date spot and knowledge staff! The ricotta cheese crostini and cheese platter are also good for a light bite.

Classy and intimate wine bar right along the border of Chelsea/West Village along 8th Ave. We came here after dining in Meatpacking and it was a perfect spot to cap the night. It gets pretty crowded on weekend nights, but it’s never really been too intense. Great selection of wines and specialty cocktails. The lounge area next to the bar is a great spot, as well. However, it’s almost TOO«cushion» — my only complaint, which really isn’t a complaint, I guess. :p Big fan!

Adorable! The perfect little date spot! I loved it from the second I walked in, there’s a small bar and a few high top tables with a couch that wraps around. You could tell a lot of people were on dates. They have a cute cocktail and wine menu. We ended up with a bottle of French white. Happy to report the waitress did know her wine, yay. The food menu is fairly selective, cheese, olives, charcuterie, small crostinis and sandwiches. We did their three cheeses for $ 15. I was a fan, you can small pieces of cheese with bread and some accompaniments. We also ordered 4 crostinis; they were all good. My only complaint was the service. They had two people busting their butts for an entire restaurant. They were both super sweet though! Adorable spot, I’ll definitely be back!

Typical cutie-pie wine bar in the West Village. They sprout like mushrooms around there. So difficult to tell one from the other. Formula is: dim lighting, high tops, mood music, and couples/friends who are oh-so-sophisticated murmuring away in the corners.

Service at its worth! Labor Day Monday… half capacity. Denied a booth due to a lame ass excuse: «need to keep it open for larger parties.» What a tool of a place. Thank God, another place next door was super accommodating.

Best drinks I had in NYC& paired with the most amazing creamy fluffly ricotta toast, you really can’t go wrong coming here! We started our night off here after dinner & it did not disappoint. We each ordered a different drink which I can’t remember the name but they were all delicious! One tasted like earl grey tea, another had kombucha in it & one had this smokiness to the drink. They were all so unique and so full of flavor! But the ricotta toast we had was just about the best thing I’ve ever ate. If I was apart of Food Network, this is what I would choose. The ricotta is creamy, fresh & just so heavenly. It’s drizzled with honey for the right amount of sweetness! If you come here you MUST get it. Service here was outstanding! The bartenders were so friendly! Really this would be my go-to for Friday night drinks after work.

The first time I stopped in, the bartender pretty much ignored my group and I. I wasn’t happy because the place was not busy and we stood there trying to snag her eye for a cocktail. After finally getting our drinks(I went with the NIKO), we went through the same process for drink number two before grabbing dinner down the street. A few hours pass and we are wondering«where to?» for one more glass of wine… Well, we wandered back into Anfora because it was convenient. This time, the crowd was great, atmosphere a little more spunky and we snagged a table(meaning we didn’t have to deal w the bartender). Our waitress was super nice and brought each person a wine to fit their palate. It’s unfortunate that the experiences were so different within a few hours of each other because I was going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I think it’s a solid 3.5. I’ll be back, the bar food menu looks great and it’s in the neighborhood.

Chic, sleek, and not overly crowded on a weekend night? Sign me up. Three girlfriends and I came here on a rainy summer Saturday night and easily snagged a table in the back. We had our own comfortable section of space which was awesome. We had a lovely time catching up over wine($ 10 – 15 per glass) and appreciated that our servers(we had three or four over the course of the hour for some reason?) were attentive, but not so attentive that we felt rushed. They also seemed quite knowledgeable of the wine — when I ordered a white wine off the list, one of our servers warned me that it was an orange-y wine and let me try it first before pouring my glass. I would definitely recommend Anfora for date night or a group gathering!

This $$ place is close to a $$$ place in my opinion. Wine was Good. Had a Malbec and the food was good too. I don’t know the price in West Village because I don’t come out often in this area but I thought it was just a little bit overpriced. Will come back for a good occasion.

Came here the other night and had a great time. We sat at the bar and only ordered drinks, so I can’t speak to the food, but the bar staff was excellent and professional. Cocktails were very tasty. The ambiance really makes this place. If you’re looking for a romantic date spot with energy — this is it. Looking forward to coming back and checking out the food!

The Quick: Really perfect spot for happy hour in the West Village, with the exposed brick, candle lights everywhere, and delicious wine and tapas. Overall a fantastic date spot or night with the girls. The Details: This is just a really classy, cozy spot in the West Village. The happy hour has pretty nice specials, and the bar tapas are delicious. The crostini are great, very flavorful yet small and inexpensive– the perfect happy hour snack. The ricotta with honey is the obvious winner here. Worth a visit. Note it was extremely crowded until about 7pm on a Wednesday. I personally would not go during prime time happy hour or on a Friday unless you can get there early. If you don’t have a seat at the bar or table, there’s nowhere to really stand and chat. The Damage: A bottle of wine and an order of crostini(four total) was $ 48 pre-tax and tip.
