My team and I went sailing on the America II with partners from out of town. It was truly a memorable experience! The America II is such a special boat. The views of New York City from the harbor are the best you’ll get anywhere. The crew was fantastic and very nice and helpful. The captain, Michael, was wonderful. I highly recommend this to any team looking for a unique activity.

Everyone loves a 12 Meter and America II is the only 12 Meter in the world to call Manhattan her home. Ever see the movie WInd? Watch it. Before the America’s Cup was raced on catamarans with plaining hulls and speeds of over 40 knts, it was raced on elegant machines like America II. Being on this boat in the Harbor is unlike anything I’ve done before. She powers up like a train and cuts through chop and wake like no yacht I know. In clear water, when she’s heeled fully over, you can see her keel from high side. Today’s AC-​72s are faster and definitely more sophisticated, but if you want a taste of sailing the old-​school way, give A2 a spinn.

I was able to sail on America II with a corporate sail and the whole group loved it! It was amazing to sail on a piece of American sailing history and to see her sails flying in the wind. We pulled out of North Cove marina and headed south, helping to raise the sails as we went. There were picturesque views of the Manhattan skyline and we came upon the Statue of Liberty right as the sun was setting behind her torch — it was quite a sight! It is definitely the most unique way to see NYC and we had a blast while doing it. I highly recommend taking a sail on America II– you will be so glad you did!
