I really have to give a review on such a wonderful salon that really had me gone with the wind fabulous!!!
Tracy the owner was very personable and really knew what she was talking about. After she washed my hair it felt good soft to the touch and moisturized. She handled my hair with care and really made me feel amazing. When you go to her salon you know your in good hands because it’s her craft. She had a vision for me and when She was finished I could see so clearly. I always hated having my hair straight because wherever I went it just looked lifeless and not too healthy. She made my hair feel good, look healthy and now I’m actually happy I’m wearing my straight for now. I’m not disappointed but super psyched. I’m already getting so many compliments!!!

0 stars! Seriously! This review is long overdue. My appointment was back in May of this year, but I supposed it took me this long to get over the shock.
I have never seen anyone with such poor customer service. My initial phone call to make an appointment should have been my cue (the owner told me I would have to wait to be seen. When I asked her a question, she snapped at me and spoke to me as if I were an idiot), but since I was a bit desperate to find a salon that would take me on such short notice, I took the appointment.
When I walked into the salon, the owner looked at my hair and told me she did not «do locs of THAT size», she then proceed to tell me she would never do her clients’ hair in such big sections (mind you, my locs are definitely medium sized, not thick at all and actually very nice, if I do say so myself). She made me feel horrible for about 30 more minutes and actually had the nerve to give me a conditioner and two options 1) comb out my locs out 2) she could cut them. Really? No way. I still can’t believe it took me so long to run out of there, but when I finally did (when she saw I was leaving she said she could work on my hair and do the «best she could» to make it look nice) – I never looked back! Awful!

I called to book a same day appointment. I work in midtown and was willing to travel to Harlem for the right salon. I recently did the «Big Chop», so I now have natural air and my afro. Feeling like my hair is still a bit too long for my taste, I was seeking a salon to cut it for me.
Enter the receptionist, or whoever it was that answered the phone. I explained my plight, and she responds, «we don’t just do cuts, we have to wash your hair too»… well that’s obvious… really obvious, but I let that slide.
As it turns out, they had no availability and she offered up an appointment for the next day. At that point I was a bit turned off, so I politely declined and we bit each other goodbye.
My work phone promptly rings, and it looked like they were calling me back. It was the lovely Tracy everyone else is raving about on the web. She says, «you called to make an appointment and didn’t know what you want done.» Well, that was false, but I let it slide. She said i could come in that evening, as I told her I would leave immediately. As she didn’t from which location I was travelling and as I wanted to respect her time, I queried «what time are you closing?» She snapped back «didn’t you say you were leaving now? That’s all I need to know»
…no one, absolutely no one that I am paying to perform a service will ever speak to me like that and earn money from me. I politely said not to worry about it and found a salon with competent and pleasant entrepreneurs.
Agape Beauty Salon does not deserve your money, at least not if you expect respect to be a two way street. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!!!

Tracy is ah-​mazing with the press & curl. My mane is quite unruly and she tames it in less than 2 hours. I like that I am not in the shop all day for a press. The price point and final touches are worth my hike from BK to Harlem. Yes yes from BK to Harlem.

agape beauty salon is a rare gem., this Is a place that you could easily miss walking past, but this is a great salon. ive gone here for nearly a decade!(yeah I know long) she has a great warm personality and loves to do hair. its a struggle finding someone that suits you but she does a phenomenal job. she especially loves to do natural hair so if youre looking for a salon this is it. im so glad I found her so many years ago. tracy is always willing to work around your scheudule and loves her clients. everyone is cheerful and welcomes new clients like youre family. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my hair. oh and fyi I usually get a relaxer and she’s fabulous with that too!

I LOVE AGAPE!!! Tracy is the BEST-​Period. I had my hair single twisted, she did not rush, and did them small. I was visiting and wished she lived in Florida. I’ve since had my hair done in 2 salon in South Florida and they did exactly what Tracy said, too big and sloppy. Anytime i’m in NY I’m going straight to AGAPE.
