My boyfriend and I are visiting from Montréal and used Unilocal to find a good place to go out dancing and have a few drinks. The reviews were mixed but we decided to give it a go. The initial cover was 20 $ and shots were 11+$ which we found a little pricey in comparison to where we are from. The atmosphere at the venue is fun, low ceilings but spacious enough. We LOVED music and danced all night. Ultimately, the night is what you make it… with some help from good DJs and no drama.

This place is a complete dump. I’m talking about a run-down, cheap looking place with worn out carpets, worn out sofas, a creepy, low class crowd, low ceilings… And yet, surprisingly, uppity doormen and staff. Absurd. Never again.

Reserved a private event here and it could not have been worse. Incredibly rude staff led by the worst management I’ve seen in a long time — they did everything they could to not make any money. A tiny bar with low ceilings. Looking forward to checking back in a year when this place no longer exists.

If I could rate this place a zero I would. Standing in line to get into a private event last night that my friends were hosting. I get to the bouncer and show my ID and he tells me that he can’t let me in and to talk to the owner. The owner Aram proceeds to tell me that he’s not letting me in… with no reasoning as to why other than telling me I had been drinking. Considering I’m 23, that’s legal. So I was waiting for a friend to meet me outside next to the club and I started talking to the bouncer. The owner comes up behind me, grabbed me and pushed me so hard I almost fell to the ground and then started screaming at me. I don’t know what man puts his hands on a woman but clearly it’s this rude and racist pig. Great way to treat a paying customer, a woman or anyone. God bless the woman in his life if there is one. Place should be shut down.

Just Bad — was there for a party and this place is just one word CLASSLESS! Charging you $ 5 before you even walk in the door for coatcheck. Drinks that just dont seem like«Real» drinks. Small, dingy, dirty and completely unappealing unless you are 15 years old and want to hang out in your friends refinished basement again! FACT!

I purchased a gilt voucher, and then forgot about it(as usual). Then one of my friends wanted to come here on a Saturday so I emailed about using the voucher and was allowed to use the amount paid($ 79). We arrived shortly before midnight, the place is in a basement. A basement is a positive because it meant that I had the ceiling to balance me as I danced. A basement is a negative because it’s a basement, and I didn’t think of this until the next day when mentioned to me, but there really would be no way to escape if you needed to. The first 2 hours that we were there I felt like I was back at a middle school dance. Every song was PONDARIPPAPONDARHYME over and over and over. Not one song did I recognize. The music got much better around 2 a.m. There was a fight, which meant everything on our table spilled on the floor. It took a really long time for anyone from the staff to clean up the multitude of ice that spilled on the floor. It’s on groupon, $ 79 gets you a bottle and a table, for the money it really can’t be beat.

This is a really cool venue! I was there for a private party and it’s decently sized but not huge. It’s also lounge-y but there’s definitely dancing and the music was pretty good. I was surprised at how much I liked the low ceilings — it felt like you could see everyone else better, which was especially nice since I knew most of the people at the party. The reason I’m giving this place three stars is because of the bouncers. They were extremely rude and uncompromising. We had paid to rent out this space, and the least we expected was to be treated with respect! They were giving people who were of age to drink a hard time with their IDs, they wouldn’t let anyone back in who went out to smoke, and they physically kicked someone out for being annoyed at the bouncers’ illogical strictness. Also, there was a $ 5 mandatory coat check! I’m sorry, I don’t need to pay anyone $ 5 to put a fucking jacket on a hanger. I hope the owners read this and do something about the bouncers, because otherwise this place would’ve been five stars.

Really small basement lounge with side door entrance makes it very easy to miss. Had amaretto sour tasted mostly of watered down sour mix with little alcohol and lots of ice. Coat check is mandatory, but since I was at a private event not enforced. Checking in items was steep, it was $ 9 for coats and my bag! It was $ 5 for bags $ 4 for coats and $ 2 for umbrellas. Bathroom is unisex with 3 stalls. Tip the room attendant they deserve the tip more than the bartender!

I met up with friends here on a Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. We had a great time because we always have a great time regardless of the location. Now, for the review of this establishment, I personally didn’t like it. My friends did, but I didnt. Why? well first off the bartender was extremely rude, impolite, obnoxious and desperate. We got there a little after midnight and paid the cover charge of $ 25 which gave us the open bar until 2am. Let me first off say, don’t expect the open bar to be «real» drinks with an honest amount of liquor. I straight up requested regular«non open bar drinks» that I gladly paid for because what’s the point of drinking JUICE with one teaspoon of liquor? That is NOT a drink –_-. So when I got my first drink I went back to the bartender that served me and told him please put some Captain Morgan in this because I only taste OJ. Here’s the coversation: BARTENDER:(He said to me with an attitude and his dry crusty lips) «I didn’t serve that to you!» ME: «-_– I just walked away from here, you’re the only bartender here» BARTENDER: «WELL, tip me how about that!» ME: «I will TIP you when you have manners and put liquor in my glass.» And then he poured some more in my glass and I walked away and no I did not tip him because I ALREADYTIPPEDHIM5BUCKSFOR a free glass of Orange Juice –_-. How rude right? Anyway 2am passed and my male friend bought my drinks instead and tell me why his drinks were always stronger than mine and my other girlfriend? I don’t know, maybe they served men better drinks? I don’t know. The music was all techno, house and hip hop. Which is great but he didn’t play not even one reggae song, not even Sean Paul. That’s too bad. Coat check was $ 4 and mandatory but not really because I saw people leave there coats on the couch. If you’re over 6ft 5inches your neck will probably break because the cieling is REALLYLOW like a basement. The place is carpeted and lights are low, there are also IKEA style couches. This place is really cool if you want to chill out with friends but anything else I honestly don’t recommend it.

This place understand customer service and really shows you a good time!!! Went here for my friends bachelorette on a Groupon or Livingsocial deal(can’t remember which). From the time I booked the owner was quick with responding and assured me we’d have a good time. When we arrived the bouncer was fun and had us laughing as we waited for our waitress. Our waitress was there in NO time! EVERYONE… owner/bouncer/waitress/dj/bartender was attentive, fun, and just beyond what you get at most Manhattan club! Thank you so much guys, the bride had a BALL!!!

The drinks were fine and the bartender friendly enough, but the shabby ambiance — not quite cool enough to claim they’re aiming for that Portlandia Hipster look — leaves something to be desired. If you’re paying a cover charge for the event the place should at least look scrubbed down. The VIP section is a partitioned area leading to the communal bathroom. Perhaps just take out the curtains so folks aren’t all crowded into the small area, especially on a day when you don’t have a special event going on…

We had friends’ birthday party here, and if it wasn’t for OUR company, this would have been a bust. We were ready to celebrate and party! But the underground rap music didn’t get anyone of us in the mood to dance. Also, we spent about $ 2000! that night on «promotional» bottles and food. Here were some problems: 1. The hostess(Asian girl)/waitress was NOT organized: How do you come with 2 menus for 20 people? That itself wasted a lot of time, sharing menus to order. It took FOREVER! 2. We waited 20 minutes to get another round of drinks. 20 mins! She would go MIA. When folks spend $ 2000, don’t you think they should have their OWN waitress if not 2? 3. Food took forever to come out, and when it did, they did NOT bring any plates, or even napkins. ??! 4. How are they going to bring out bottles w/o making sure we have mixers? Or even CUPS??? 5. Ordering more food took forever again, bc the hostess/waitress were nowhere to be found 6. Bus boys didn’t clean the table but were quick to take away the food. ?? 7. There is no real VIP. Other people can come in and out as they want and did. Even DRUNK, sloppy people falling on top of us. 8. You need more staff, security included! 9. The waitress screwed up the orders we had, admitted to it, but the owner Aram insisted we pay for HER screw up. 10. The waitress charged my credit another $ 175AFTER the bill was paid in FULL. 11. We woke up with the WORST hangovers ever, the kind you get from cheap liquor, which is NOT what we ordered. These are pretty BASIC issues, and in «VIP», they should never be an issue. As a group, we spent about $ 2000 that night, and the service was far from $ 2000 quality. That aspect was disappointing to say the least. We’ve been to places like 2305th, and spent ½ this amount and were treated like true VIPs.

I searched high and low for a good lounge spot with a club vibe for my future cousin-in-law’s Bachelorette shindig do-over and came across a voucher for 49 Grove. Of course, I Unilocaled the business to make sure it was on the up and up but the reviews didn’t look too promising. I don’t only go for the best reviewed because sometimes people could just have isolated poor experiences so I decided to give it a shot since the reviews were fairly mixed. I got the voucher PLUS a disco for unlimited guests, free admission and bottle service. From the reviews I read, it seems that some people didn’t read the fine print and understand what the end cost would be. I’m glad I did some research because I would have been pissed also. Don’t get me wrong; it’s no different from any other voucher. You get the service at a discount but you pay tax and tip on the full price. A $ 75 voucher on what would normally cost $ 350 is gonna run you a bit. For me, I ended up paying around $ 200 totes, not including the favors for the B2B and guests. I got there before everyone else and the bouncers were hilarious because one in particular noticed I was irked that everyone was running late. One of the bouncers introduced me to my server and she was pleasant and so helpful all night. I’ve seem reviews regarding the service but the people who helped us this night was all amicable and truly attentive. She showed me to our VIP area and didn’t push for me to get the bottle until the rest of my crew showed up so I sipped on a drink until they came. The DJ came by and introduced himself and I was amazed by the courtesy of everyone, especially in a NYC spot. The B2B came, along with our guests, we popped our bottle, sparklers all over the place, it got packed and we had an awesome night! The only downside is that it gets really packed. There’s great energy but also a lot of egos. I stepped outside for a bit and when I came back, some dude was blocking the only passage back to my VIP mecca while holding on to his girl for dear life and when I tried to pass, he wouldn’t let me through. I finally went around and he pushed me so, in true gifting fashion, I pushed him back. I let the bouncers know and they checked him and that was that. It happens; it’s NYC and it in no way reflects the spot. They don’t pick their patrons. We had a blast, the B2B shut down the party and I was glad to give her a night to remember

Last night I was at this event for a reunion from 6−10pm and to celebrate my bday. I spoke with someone regarding the dress code because many of my male friends wanted to be comfortable. I was told designer sneakers only. As I sat there i saw a man with red converse low top sneakers, white jordans, girls in flat sandals, white nike, not to mention a gentlemen with a white tshirt and black basketball shorts accompanied with black nike and pink nike sneakers. I wont even start on the amount of baseball caps i saw. This place does not have an upscale dress code. The drinks were good, the music was ok. This really bothered me

Been here a couple of times and it is usually packed when I go… I feel like this place if it gets too crowded it feels congested only because it is a small place on top the ceiling is very very low which makes you feel even more congested than you already are. — VIP Seatings isn’t all that to rave about — Place is just cramped and congested Service was good and overall a good time for a little bit then I tend to leave once it gets too packed in there and go elsewhere…

I’ve been here a couple of times. The last time I went, my friend got a deal on Gilt city for an open bar for 1 hour($ 20, which was a steal). I had a fun time here, though there isn’t really room for dancing(the place is rather cramped). The bartender was a bit of an ass, and would ignore people who [he thought] didn’t tip. I say that because there were two bartenders, and I would switch back and forth between bartenders when I couldn’t reach the other, so would tip whoever served me at the time. Either way, that means that he expects a tip every time or he wont serve you(which is dumb), and I DID tip every time. Just because he doesn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, but you know, f**k logic right? Even if I didn’t tip every time(which again, I did), he doesn’t need to be that angry, especially when his job depends on interacting directly with customers. Also, at coat check, they lost one of my friend’s gloves; just mentioning it, not really holding that against them. All in all, it’s a decent place, a bit cramped, but decent. I would come here again though only through another Gilt City type deal.

Great time! Like other Unilocalers said, it is a decent place nothing to rave about(anymore) but it’s a good time. Went this past weekend for a Bachelorette Party, got a deal online and it was great. the staff was awesome as was the waitress especially… the Bride was so very happy. So all in all it’s great. I took away a star because it’s kind of dirty/skeeeevie feeling, lol and the bar gave my friend a hard time about asking for a bottle of water. :(BUT Aside from that… if you keep your shoes on and stick to Vodka you’ll have a great time. PS Thank you to the DJ who kept on shouting out the Bride, she appreciated that!

Party girls aren’t supposed to get hurt according to Sia. 49 Grove proved that wrong. Came here with friends. Was having a good time. Go to the counter to get drinks. Please tell me WHY my friend and I’s rum was straight up water. No alcohol was in it. The ‘rum’ came straight from the rum bottle. You deduce what’s really in the rum bottle… –_– Agua!!! On top of that, the place had about 15 of us in there. It’s okay, we made it our own party. But I do like a bit of a busy atmosphere. Upside? I could feel the air conditioning & had mad space to dance in. So this party girl got hurt in terms of getting screwed on drinks. But not so much in the dancing realm.

This place is pretty interesting I had a great time heres the run down on this place… Upon walking up to the entrance there was a rope with a bouncer to my surprise. The guest-list guy had a bit of an attitude. Theres nothing worse than people with a clipboard acting as if they are a God. Anyway he told us the birthday girl wasn’t there yet but let us in anyway. When we got downstairs low and behold who do we see? The birthday girl! Idk what was that guy’s deal. The spot has very dim lighting which I loved but it was really hot in there. Coat check was charging $ 4 for coats and an additional $ 2 for umbrellas as it was raining, pretty ridiculous to pay extra for an umbrella as I am already paying for my coat. All that aside we had a great time!!! We literally danced and sang the night away in VIP. The DJ was on point! I believe if Im not mistaken it was someone by the name of DJ Unique. We were with such a large group of people I couldn’t even tell you how the crowd was there. We ordered the pork sliders and the cupcake tier. The sliders were delicious! Really good. We also ordered a hookah which is always a plus. We had bottles but there was a Unilocal offer for 1 free top shelf drink after check in. We went for it and the girl giving the drink tickets was extremely snotty and so was the bartender! The only employees who were nice were the ones serving our VIP. Seems like the people towards the front including the bouncers outside were rude. I had a greatttt time because I was in good company but I can see the low ratings described by other Unilocalers. BTW the bathrooms are co ed and the urinals are separated from the rest of the bathroom by a curtain. Crazy!
