Excited by the hype given by Patti Labelle’s Living it Up show, I stepped around the corner to try out this locally owned and unique fashion boutique. I even had one of my fabulously skinny and trendy friends go with me so that I would give a fair assessment overall. Well…at first I was excited. Even captivated by all the beautiful offerings and the presence of Princess there to guide me through it all. She assured me that one of the things that they do at the Brownstone is recognize that beauty has a multitude of sizes and so BOTH my size zero buddy and me with all my double digit-ness would leave with a great purchase that would be sensational in price and originality. They put up a good show. I found myself getting undressed in the back room waiting for Princess to pass on recommended garb for my body type. Naked and nurtured, I naturally noticed nearby neglected designs in the next niche. I tried some of that on and it did not fit. asked for the item in my size only to hear the words I dreaded hearing: «Not in YOUR size». Humbly I continued to wait for Princess to bring items that she would recommend. It took her a while for there were very few items that could tackle all my womanhood. But what she delivered was neither unique nor flattering. We tried for almost two hours together to locate the right fit and flare for fabulous moi. I was promised that something could be ordered in my size or made especially in my size. Here is the kicker… I am NOT that big. I am the average busty beauty whose blessings belong packaged in the best. Perhaps others got there first. Perhaps Patti took it all! I just was not over the rainbow ultimately. Well, remember the skinny friend with me? During my trials and fit-ulations, she managed to scoop up a ton of terribly tremendous trends! Thanks to Brownstone, I cannot stand this friend a little more and I have a little less esteem. Their intentions are pure. But ultimately, you must deliver for us average and plus sized patrons of your art. Otherwise, you are just another tiny girl boutique! Please get more sizes on the higher end of the scale… you are in Haarlem!
