This non-profit that teaches creativity entrepreneurship to high school age youth is one of the most cutting edge and productive non-profits in the South. My employer bought chairs all made by the program participants for the boardroom, and let me tell you. When people see the boardroom with each unique chair they gasp and ask about them. When we tell them about Ya/ya, they are wowwed! Ya/ya does not have the gallery on Baronne street any longer and hasn’t since 2004. They have had a transient existence, but not reach nearly 4,000 New Orleans youth. This is a great nonprofit to support. If you see something you like(won’t necessarily be a chair) by Ya/ya, please consider purchasing.

They painted some chairs real ugly once, or at least had unpaid gradeschoolers do so, and have’t done much since. This should have been a good social arts project, but instead faltered in the apathy of NOLA and is best known by locals for the awful and pointless commercials they used to run.
