The Ancient Thread is very important to me as a NOLA Unilocaler. I stalked this thread from its beginning through December before I decided to make my presence known on Unilocal.I got to know the personalities of NOLA Unilocal so much that by the time I met Scott, Jen L., and Jess at my first event I felt we were long time friends… and now we are. OK, event review time, not mushy sentimental time. Hanging out with Jen, Vicky, Larissa, Louis, and Rhiannon would make me happy any night, but this was a celebration. Starting at the Blacksmith Shop seemed appropriate, but it still being light out and the douches hanging about, we didn’t stay too long. I did get a small Voodoo in though. Then Clover Grill time, grilled cheese and tater tots make Lindsay a happy girl(until that shit hit my stomach an hour later like an anchor). Then Jen made the excellent suggestion of stopping off at Bayona for a fancy cocktail. We had lovely drinks, conversation, hostess, and got to see Susan Spicer run back and forth with her Rouse’s bags. Next stop was May Bailey’s. Drinks by the pool were relaxing and Larissa, Louis, and Rhiannon joined our group fresh off their celebration and laughs and smiles were had by all. Last stop on our Quarter tour, Erin Rose(of course). Fun times hanging out by the jukebox, drinking, dancing, and a little more grub. It was then time to say our goodbyes for the night. Thanks Jen for creating the event and thanks Ancient Thread for the start of something really great. There I go getting mushy again.

Whew. I’m kind of glad that Vicky got FtR on this UYE. I’ve decided it looks a little desperate if you’re the first to review your own event… This was a very last minute plan. We’d talked about a UYE off and on for awhile but just never pulled the trigger so most of the folks involved were busy with their busy lives. So it was a select group of people… On a side note, what the the hell happened to Lafitte’s? Dang. Why were there children wandering in the bar. I guess I haven’t been there before midnight in a long time. Plus my simple bourbon & coke was terrible and expensive. Blech. Guess it’s time to update that review. Dinner was yummy at Clover Grill. My Bayona cooler was dangerously guzzleble.(it’s a word if I say so) And the time at May Baily’s by the pool was perfect. So much so that the chaos in Erin Rose was a bit overwhelming(nothing unusual for them but jarring after the mellowness earlier) but Erin Rose, of course, has the awesome Killer PoBoys… and random dancing… oh wait, maybe that was just us. Good times, people.

This last minute event was not as well attended as some other UYE’s, but that lended itself to a more intimate feel. It was a great start at Laffitte’s, the oldest bar in the US. When we moved onto dinner at Clover Grill, great conversations continued. We did a pit stop at Bayona for some yummy cocktails on the cushy couches. It was a lovely night to sit out by the pool at May Baily’s/Dauphine Orleans Hotel. And a great end at Erin Rose for one last drink and a quick bite at Killer Po-Boy. This was a lot going on that night, but I would definitely hang out with these awesome people again. I do wish I had my Unilocal fingerless gloves for the night — UnilocalLIFE. It would have summed up the evening quite well.
