Holy sexy donuts! I am a lover of donuts. A connoisseur of donuts if you will. From coast to coast, I will eat your city’s finest donuts. This is it folks! Best donuts in New Orleans. I think the best I’ve ever had. I’ve been back twice in 2 days. I’ve sampled the bacon praline, blueberry sage, vanilla bean, chocolate crunch, and crème brûlée. All are fantastic. The crème brûlée is especially surprisingly just like the dessert. Amazingly good. All are light and fluffy, and big enough to share so you can try more flavors. My only complaint is that there aren’t more days that they’re open. I would love to come there more days during the week.

The donuts were interesting and tasted fresh and not overly sugary. Orange creamsicle was refreshing in it’s flavor and the blueberry one tasted like real fruit. A great treat we stumbled upon at the farmers market in the Louis Armstrong park on Thursday night

This is for Upper 9 that is now in the Sound Café(which I guess is now closed) building in the Marigny. I really want to love this place and support my hood, but I just didn’t. To be fair, I’ve only been the once, but I don’t really WANT to go back. The flavors of the doughnuts are different and tasty, but the the texture of the doughnuts themselves leaves a lot to be desired. I would stick them right up there with a crispy crème, which isn’t a good thing in my book. They just weren’t light and fluffy, melt in your mouth, like they should be if I’m going to splurge on all those calories for nearly 3 dollar a piece doughnuts! We got 4 flavors to try: key lime pie– nice lime flavor and plenty of shredded coconut on top tres chocolate-regular topped w/chocolate and white choc drizzle. Not sure where the 3rd choc was. Says it is chocolate glazed? orange ginger glazed– nice flavor pg&j-spicy peanut sauce w/blackberry jam filling. I didn’t realize it was a filled jelly doughnut until after the fact, which is my fault completely, as I don’t like them I must also say that they did not have any juice or chocolate milk for my kiddo. They DID make her a chocolate milk, but it did not taste very good.(Normally she would have water, but we were having a special day) Nor did they have chicory coffee for me. Not the end of the world, but something that does not make me want to come back, as that is what I drink. Their regular ltte was passable, nothing to write home about. Perhaps if a friend wants to go check them out I might accompany them, but I don’t think I would return of my own accord.

Was happy to finally make it to Upper 9. My favorite was the Turtle doughnut. Maple bourbon smoked bacon, candied apple and spiced chocolate were delicious as well, but they had run out of satsuma crème by the time I got there around 10am. Would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a treat early on a Saturday morning. :)
