I have been coming to King Pin for over a year now. It is a great, super divey, Elvis-themed, Uptown bar. They have a fully stocked bar, with a good selection of liquor and some beers on tap. I’ve never asked for wine there. Watch out for their specialty cocktail– the dirty pompadour(jaeger shot + absinthe?) If it’s your first(or 100th) time, try to stick with one. It’s delicious, but will hit you hard. Also, I think there’s a minimum on credit cards. They have shuffle board and darts. You have to pay for shuffle board(or maybe just for the score board to work?) and you can get the darts from the bar. Not a lot of seating and everyone is typically standing inside or outside the bar. It’s a great low key place to go if you’re in the neighborhood. The Taceaux Locaeux food truck is there on Fridays, but usually sells out or leaves before late night.

As an true, loyal and die-hard Elvis fan, I have to give this place 5 stars! It would devastate me too much not to. Lol. Seriously though, I’m a fan of this little dive bar. That’s the important point to remember though — it’s a total dive populated with kind of quirky regulars and that’s more than ok, because it’s part of its charm. It is on the small side as well as being awfully dark inside, but the regulars are very welcoming and nice, the service is good and once again, let me state — any Elvis fan will LOVE it. It’s just chock blocked full of Elvis charm and charisma! What’s not to love?

Colorado Springs is a dead town for foodies, and culture for that matter. As a New Yorker in exile I suffer greatly. Therefor I am overjoyed to be in NOLA which completely owns great food and great culture. Kingpin is an amazing local spot with great people, vibe, darts and shuffleboard. What makes this place even more amazing is every Friday night Taceaux Loceaux(Taco Loco for you who don’t get it) a top 25 food truck in America parks out front. For those of you from more rigid states, you can take your drinks outside and your tacos inside. Order the Amaze Balls and a Seoul Man taco. Both ridiculous! 5 stars cuz there ain’t 6. Great food, great people, great drinks = great fun!

Even on an average day this bar is still hot. AC sucks. Kind of smells funny. Some bars smell better with smoke in them.

This is the best bar in New Orleans. Always regulars, great bartenders, the perfect neighborhood bar. Plus, SHUFFLEBOARD!!! They host shuffleboard tournaments and even have a league. Local and craft beers on tap. With a regular made tiki bar in the neutral ground, this is the prefect place for you and your friends to come hang out. A regular stop for the best food trucks in the city the Kingpin is a great place for an eclectic adult crowd. Mostly grad students and neighborhood alum. Come check it out.

I love a good dive bar, and King Pin would seem to fit the bill, but… there’s just something missing there for me. Perhaps it’s the stairs… I mean, who wants to climb stairs when they’re drunk? Not this lady. Perhaps it’s the bartender who asked me out, then stood me up? Or maybe I stood him up… oh dear… who remembers. Perhaps it’s the layout, with a huge pole in the center of the bar that you have to navigate around? What is this, an obstacle course? Perhaps it’s just the higher-than-you’d-expect prices for draft beers? Yeah, that’s probably it. I guess their drafts and premiums are better quality beers than you can get at most(okay, all) of my favorite dive bars, but I’m a simple gal who likes simple(okay, cheap) pleasures in life. Going to King Pin feels like going to a dive, but more expensive. I dunno. It’s just not right. That’s not to say it’s not a cool bar. Just not my favorite.

Love love that this place is stumbling distance from my abode, which makes it usually either the first or last stop of the evening… Friday nights for Taceaux Loceaux, which also does Monday nights for the shuffleboard tourney night. The ONLY reason this place isn’t full 5 star is the downstairs ladies bathroom. Took me quite a few visits(and quick trips home as needed) to figure out that there was a much more pleasant lavatory facility located in the back corner behind the dart boards.(Just be careful to avoid the darts!)

Cool small dive bar in the heart of Uptown. Dark bar with interesting stuff on the walls and a couple tvs. They have shuffle board and darks. Very local feel but sometimes it will be super crowded with college students for some reason. Gets pretty smokey though. Good people overall. Too smokey for it to be my regular.

Great neighborhood bar with stiff drinks. They have shuffle board and darts. They don’t serve food, but the convenience store across the street makes a good burger, drunk or not. They have a great assortment of craft brews, but still no Ballast Point(I’m a San Diegan after all). If you are in Uptown, thirsty, and want to hang out with some cool people, come to the King Pin.

I’ve only been here for the 610 Stomper Crawl(I’ve been meaning to go) but it is always a blast. Of course the three times I am there hundreds of other people are there at the same time descending on the bathroom, air conditioning and beer. The staff seem pretty nice and I hope to make it out there on a regular weekend!

Dive dive dive bar. A real Nola bar. Friendly staff, reasonable brew, diverse crowd. Not many college kids for being so close to Tulane. A real shuffleboard is available and is actually played frequently with Monday being tournament night.

I happened upon King Pin about a month ago when I was in the Uptown area and found it to be a pretty cool spot. My friend asked me if I was into visiting a Divey bar, and of course I was intrigued, especially since I’m not one to say no to a good dive bar. Now what I define as a dive bar as opposed to my friend is totally different, yet I was not disappointed. Our bartender was pretty knowledgeable and they had a GREAT selection of beer both draft and longnecks. Any bar that has a cold Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout on hand is A-OK by me. Also, the fact that I did not spot any hipsters totally won this place brownie points. The prices were extremely reasonable and the regulars were cool to talk to. The bathrooms were VERY clean for a «dive» bar leaving this girl happy! I had a good time and would definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.

I use to come to the Kingpin a long time ago(5 – 8 years ago, I’m getting old and I’m getting bad at remembering times) and remember loving this place. The Kingpin introduced me to shuffleboard which is still my favorite bar game. At one time it was one of the only places that had it so maybe my love for the Kingpin was a lack of options. Jeannie and I rolled in here this past Friday night only because Taceaux Loceaux was out front and we had never been. I’m guessing that this was the reason for the bar being completely full. The bar is small to begin with so when there are 50 people in there it seems like Bourbon on Mardi Gras day. They only had 1 bartender working while I was trying to get a few beers. She was friendly and busting her ass then a guy walked in and pretended to help her but he was kind of an ass. It’s a busy bar, make a fuckin’ drink or get out of her way. She seemed to get 8 drinks to his 1. The crowd was also a lot different then I remember. Lot’s of young Republicans with their pink Polo’s tucked into their white shorts while wearing loafers mixed with equally rich bearded trust fund bearded hipsters drinking PBR in a can to give the illusion that they don’t care. Both groups are Tulane/Loyola kids who are equally rich and will soon be bitter enemies in their political beliefs but for now there was no Sharks and Jets dance fighting. Anyway the bar was impossible to enjoy so we drank our non PBR beers outside on the curb while enjoying our taco’s. I’ll have to come back on a non taco truck night to see if this place was how I once remembered or does this too fall into the category of things«My memories are better than the real thing» category like Spaghetti-O’s and Voltron.

After coming back a few times in the afternoons I decided this place was pretty cool. I like it as an after work kinda place as opposed to a Friday/Saturday night hangout, but I’ll keep returning.

It’s the very definition of a dive, but certainly not the most interesting one you’ll visit. Drink prices are kind of average at best, and you’ll leave having developed a nicotine dependency. I’ve never seen so much smoke in such a compact area. The night crowd has weirdly varied each time I’ve been: once packed with jaded college-aged hipsters, the next visit flooded with middle-aged couples kicking back after work, etc. My visits were spaced out several months apart, and I haven’t really experienced the Elvis overload that other people seem to. Either way, there’s nothing that really stands out about this place enough to make a drive to, even from within Uptown. I suppose if you live around Prytania/Upperline, you’ve got yourself a neighborhood hangout, but otherwise… eh.

Its all Elvis all the time so like it or leave. This is generally a pretty cool place and has a blue collar vibe to the place. The prices are a bit more than I would expect in a place like this. I got really turned off about this joint when they put Obama stickers on all the beer taps. I’m all for you supporting your candidate and all the joys of democracy but I don’t think a beer tap is the place to put political crap like that.

A dive bar and a shrine to Elvis? Yes please. King Pin is a great example of a New Orleans Dive, but with a great selection of beer. In particular, they offer Magic Hat #9 which I thoroughly enjoy. The bar is extensively decorated with Elvis memorabilia. I found it very hard to not think about the King, or plan a new trip to Graceland while sitting around drinking. For anyone who has not plotted a road trip while sitting in a bar, you’re missing out. The bar was really dark. In fact, it may have been too dark especially when you consider that I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read something on the bar. Despite the lack of light, I did really like the bar. I hope to come back soon and drink some more Magic Hat in absolute darkness.

The Kingpin is a cool place to catch the Saints game, or catch a band when they have one. They have an extensive beer selection and the crowd is always nice and friendly. The place does tend to get crowded on weekends. One huge complaint: the smoke in this place is insane, even if there aren’t a lot of people in here.

Let me start my review by saying that I’m not one to normally spend the evening at a bar. I went to the King Pin because Taceaux Loceaux was outside that night and they had a new dish, the Supercabre goat taceaux. We got there right when the truck was setting up and they said they would be fifteen minutes or so and we decided top step into the bar and get a drink while we waited. Stepping inside was like walking into another world. Outside was the hot Louisiana summer and in here was a cool Elvis wonderland. The owner loves Elvis and the place is decorated appropriately. While waiting to get dinner I was delighted to see not only Blue Moon on tap but also Andy Gaitor. At this point the bar was just like all the others I’ve been to and I was quietly waiting to get my dinner. Then one of the patrons saw my shirt and asked me if the band on it was still together. This seemingly simple interaction with someone in a small bar was the gateway to a pretty fun evening. See, this is the kind of patrons I found there. In the next five minutes I made two new friends and by the time my food was ready one of them offered to buy another round for a guy he just met. For the next four hours my girl and I chatted with our new friends, drank a couple of rounds, and had a bunch of the best food truck tacos I’ve ever experienced.

My friends really loved this place for awhile so this was kind of our default hang out for a few several weeks one psychotically hot NOLA summer. It does seem to be quite the«neighborhood bar» — located away from hectic-ness of Magazine street. You’ll see locals here, but sometimes yes, college kids and law students. The actual bar is quite quaint and intimate — definitely not the place for extremely large groups. The service is pretty prompt and acceptable and drinks are decently priced — the other patrons can be friendly but will strike up a conversation with you should you so desire. I recall there being darts, maybe even a pool table in the back? It’s been too long! There is a shuffleboard table perchance you dabble in that sort of treachery(I suck at it!). I prefer Kingpin over most of the bars on Magazine, that’s for sure, but I wouldn’t say it was a «favorite» because there was nothing particularly redeeming about this place. It just happens to be an all right place to hang out with few friends when compared to the alternatives.
