Excellent and well curated gallery, right in the thick of famed Julia Street district. For an added arts connection in New Orleans, there is a Saturday on Julia Street gallery night the first Saturday of each month. Most of the galleries are open, free to the public, with libations and refreshments. Ferrara’s shows seem to have a little more drive than most. The gallery is a good size, you might even say large, with great ceiling height. Some of the artist’s work featured here may be perceived as overly political but most is fresh, dynamic, and often local. To be sure, the shows consistently queue in my mind in the top 2 – 3, for Julia, mind you; there are other galleries in New Orleans in other neighborhoods that rank very differently. Go to Ferrara and see for yourself.
