This is a great spot in Marigny. They are known for their praline bacon, which is to die for. Kind of on the pricy side for 4 strips of bacon but totally worth it. The bacon is crispy but not too crispy and coated in caramelized praline, which makes it sticky and nutty and sweet. We had amazing bloody Mary’s here, too. The boudin balls were incredible(and when we went a second time we got the boudin Benny, which was one of my favorite things there). Fried green tomatoes are on point. Get the grits instead of the potatoes here as a side. We also tried the French toast burrito, which many recommended, and was only alright. Would have loved to try their shrimp and grits but they only have them on the weekends. All in all you can’t go wrong with this place. The service is great, all the servers are super nice and attentive. Local art on the walls make the place homey and memorable. Would definitely go back.

Let me preface this by saying that, being from Portland, my brunch standards are sky high. Elizabeth’s didn’t let me down. I ordered the crab cake breakfast special. Delicious. The poached eggs were works of art and the crab cakes overstuffed. I could eat nineteen of these. I love fried green tomatoes and ordered a side. Verdict? 7⁄10. I was expecting to be blown away and was just… satisfied. But then again even unripe tomatoes have a season, and it sure as shit isn’t January. I’ll give these another whirl in the summertime. The service was great. The girls were attentive, kind and efficient. The décor was the usual for what I’ve come to love in NOLA: quirky, colorful and New Orleans-centric. I dig all the outsider art. I’ll be back.

Elizabeth’s is a popular breakfast spot, and on some days can get so busy that it’s hard to get in the door. I recommend going early, or not trying to go on a busy days at all unless you can stand the wait. It can get VERY loud at times when it’s busy. The praline bacon is a must-have, but just about everything is good. Gravy was a little bit of a let-down recently(too much raw flour flavor), but otherwise the food was solid.

I mean… I do have a few complaints but the overall creativity and flavorfulness of the food overrides any downsides in my opinion. The florentine was amazing. Plentiful, delicious, juicy, fried oysters. The fried chicken livers were incredible if you’re into that kind of thing. The bacon… nomzzzzzzz. I just loved how every dish was creative and distinctly New Orleansy. A few downsides: the potatoes were fine but just fine and play a prominent role. the price is high. the wait is long. as others have attested to, their idea of a poached egg is less runny than most of us prefer.

Had brunch here a couple weeks ago after hearing great things about the restaurant from friend as well as here on Unilocal. I ended up getting one of the specials; the Florentine. It consisted of hash browns, poached eggs, hollandaise, cream & spinach sauce, and fried oysters. The dish was very good. The cream sauce really it was made the dish. The rest of the dish was solid, but it is all what you typically see. The cream sauce is really what stood out to me and what I made sure to finish off the plate before the server came and picked it up. I also had the praline bacon. It was good, but not as good as the praline bacon from Charcoal Burger.

Service was slow to non existent. 30 minute wait for a table turned into an hour. The bartenders ignored us for the first 15 minutes until I moved spots 3 times. I guess I could see how they missed us though. I mean I’m only 6’4″, and my girlfriend is only 5’10″, so I see how we were hard to spot. The food took another 40 minutes to come out, and when it did we were disappointed. They brought a steak out that took up 80% of my plate, but was 45% fat. Very sneaky. The eggs, and potatoes had no seasoning at all, except for the hair they put in my girlfriend’s potatoes. Very personal touch. I won’t be allowing anyone to drag me back to this place again.

The boyfriend and I went last night. It was an experience to say the least. We showed up and only one other table was there. We got prompt service from a nice waitress. She seemed eager to have a table. We started with the rabbit biscuit. They came out quickly, and are absolutely amazing. I would go back for these. I wish they made them a full sized entrée not just and appetizer. For my entrée I ordered the duck in cherries, with sides of green beans and red beans and rice. My boyfriend ordered the liver and onions, greens, and french fries. I will only be reviewing my meal as I hate liver and onions. The entrées arrived quickly. Perhaps a little too quickly. My duck was under cooked. It was tough, chewy, and just not what duck should be. The cherries on and around the duck did not add anything special. I was less than impressed. My green beans were spicy. I don’t mind and finished them, I was just unprepared for such a heavy spice in green beans. My red beans and rice were ok. Nothing to write home about. I had been so excited after the rabbit app, to only be let down by this weird duck entrée. I boxed my duck and red beans to go, but did not take them to work for lunch. They will probably end up in the trash. Boyfriend and I ordered after dinner coffee and looked at the desert menu. Before we could even discuss desert or even put creamer in my coffee a rat came scrambling from under our table! It went under my boyfriends chair and towards the bathroom. We thought we would skip desert. While we flagged our waitress down to ask for the bill and inform her about the incident, ANOTHERRAT ran out from under our table, across my shoe, and towards the kitchen. I was done and proceeded to leave. I left poor boyfriend there to deal with it. I was sickened. I understand rats happen, especially that close to the river on cold nights. However I have never had one run across my foot. When the waitress was notified about it she responded by telling us she was now scared to come over to our table! No discount was offered, no apologies. The whole thing makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen, and if they are storing food properly. I don’t believe I will be returning. Sadly this is one of my boyfriends favorite places, so I hope they get pest control in ASAP.

This place was a cage of monkeys on New Years Day! Our wait time went up and down each time I went back to check! Luckily they have giant Bloody Mary’s for the wait! We started with the praline bacon and it was worth the hype! My eggs florentine were awesome! However, coming down off my high from Acme Oyster, the oysters were not as fresh. I also tried the the crab cake and grits which were solid! We needed a nap after this meal so be careful not to have your plans shot after it!

We arrived at 1130 on a Sunday morning and no wait for a 2 top. The décor is artsy flamboyant NOLA magic, with a pig emphasis to go with the logo, a whole case of «pigurines.» We had the famed praline bacon and it was as delicious as you would think, but a lot less crispy than I imagined. I had the duck waffle, which was a shredded duck and mashed sweet potato situation with a chili sauce, scallions and maple syrup dressing atop a cornbread waffle. It was the shit, incredibly tasty. Dara kept it simple with their simple breakfast, though it came with cheese grits which she enjoyed. The iced tea was not great but I didn’t care because the food was so spectacular!

The praline bacon has been consistently delicious with each visit, it is definitely a life changer! The only downside was the amount of oil that was used in cooking the eggs. You could taste the oil in each bite which made it distracting.

WOW. Absolutely amazing freakin brunch, I don’t even know where to begin. The place is covered in Dr. Bob’s artwork, service was laid back and extremely friendly– Robert was our waiter and he was great. He even gave us some extra shrimp to go with our fried green tomatoes because we had more people than we did shrimp– and they were big, fresh suckers. This place does decadence right. For a table of five we ordered one of every lunch appetizer and double praline bacon. I have no words for how amazing the bacon is. Sweet and salty and perfect. Put a strip in your bloody mary. Boudin balls and fried green tomatoes were both winners. I tried fried chicken livers for the first time and while they haven’t won me over yet, the pepper jelly they came with was great. The only real miss were the fried oysters with blue cheese; the oysters themselves were perfect but I don’t think the cheese went well with them. The fried catfish was so tender that is practically fell apart before even making it to your mouth. I ordered a special consisting of fried eggplant topped with poached eggs that was delicious. But the star of the show was the french toast burrito. I NEED this in NY, it’s just not fair. They take a tortilla, dip it in the french toast egg wash, cover with cinnamon, fry it up, and stuff it with eggs, sausage, and that life changing praline bacon. Cover the enormous thing with maple syrup and powdered sugar. I’m not religious but I felt blessed just to have tasted it.

Elizabeths is a smaller joint that specializes in breakfast. My group and I ordered 8 or so different items to share. I personally ordered the fried green tomato benedict. Overall for how many reviews and stars this place received, I was expecting this place to be the . I would rate the breakfast as just average. The fried green tomato benedict had about two tablespoons of sauce and I found the praline bacon to taste exactly like when i dip bacon in maple syrup. The duck and sweet potato waffle was unique however I found that combination of flavors to be rather off putting and only at a bite or two. All of this combined with about a 40 minute wait produced a below average experience.

Can’t comment much about other food because I only got the praline bacon for take out. But that bacon was ADDICTIVE! I ordered 16 strips for me and my 3 other friends in the hotel. I ended up taking some of theirs on the way back. The staff is super nice. The place also gives you a homey feel. I definitely suggest tourists going there. It’s not a main tourist area but you get a local feel of NOLA.

Epic breakfast with the family! My brother did the ordering and he knew what to get. My favorites were the fried green tomatoes with the poached egg(Cowboy breakfast, I think it was called) and the praline bacon. Everything was awesome but those blew my mind. I also had one of the chicken livers, ½ a boudain ball, and a little cala. Yummy! For drinks, the coffee was good and strong and the Pimm’s Cup was very nice. Perfect way to enliven a rainy Sunday.

I was visiting NOLA and stayed at an AirBnB in the Bywater neighborhood, so this joint was right around the corner and a friend and I met to check it out. It was crazy busy on a Friday for lunch, and it was hella loud. The upstairs where we hungout waiting for a table was way more acoustically friendly — we should’ve stayed up there to eat. I liked the vibe and the decos, but the crowd and the noise level definitely dampened my experience. Our waiter never really engaged because it was too loud to talk to anyone not at eye level. Plus the entire waitstaff was running around like crazy, so maybe they were down a few people. I had the blue cheese bacon burger, which I enjoyed, but it wasn’t live changing. My friend’s french toast burrito looked like the better choice — it seems like breakfast food may be more of their speciality.

Normally a restaurant with 586 reviews and a four star average is a guaranteed home run. I guess I have found the exception to the rule. My experience at Elizabeth’s left me surprised, disgusted and slightly poorer than I was before I walked in. Elizabeth’s is incredibly popular. Tourists and locals sing its praises and it is often packed with a lengthy wait. I guess you could say I lucked out on the day I visited and was seated immediately, but looking back, I wish the line of tourists would have been out the door so I would have skipped it. The downstairs area was packed so we were seated upstairs and it was nearly empty. Normally that would mean prompt service, but it was quite the opposite. Our server also seemed to have some sort of entitled attitude like he was better than us, and maybe he was(I was born in Houma after all), but he could have at least acted as if he appreciated our visit. I guess when you’re a true New Orleanian you look down upon those of us who aren’t. The food was shockingly bad. I ordered a shrimp an andouille omelet expecting smoky, spicy flavors with perfect gulf shrimp. What I received was a bland omelet with bland sausage topped by bland hollandaise. It was the worst omelet I have ever had and an embarrassment to southern cuisine. As a side we decided to find out what the hype was all about and ordered an extremely expensive side of praline bacon. Praline fucking bacon. Praline. Motherfucking. Bacon. Am I doing it right? That seems to be the reaction when most people taste this dish. My reaction was more along the lines of calling the NOPD to report a robbery. $ 6 or 7 dollars for four strips of bacon with caramelized sugar? Hell no. Don’t believe the hype. FYI — the NOPD never showed up. After paying the bill I just felt like I had been bamboozled. I honestly cannot believe that people line up out of the door daily to be bamboozled. If I am wanting breakfast in the city I can think of at least three places with far superior food, parking and service with a much cheaper price tag. All I have to say to Elizabeth’s is: BYEFELICIA!

There’s nothing more than brunch that I love. Maybe some other things like life and breath, but brunch is up there. While visiting my friends we stopped here on my last day. The place is adorable and eclectic just as NOLA offers itself to be. Great artwork available for purchase on the walls. Place was clean, service was great and coffee was strong and flowing. We shared eggs Benedict with fried green tomato and grits, sausage gravy and biscuit and praline bacon. The Stars aligned, everyone’s worlds collided when bacon and a praline mated. Oh is it lovely. I recommend getting two different dishes and sharing because EVERYTHING looks amazing. Reasonably priced and homey feel in here. They had a number of specials as well. I know I’d like to try to make praline bacon since I will only get this from Elizabeth’s once a year… overnight shipping? Definitely stop in here for brunch.

It is with a heavy heart I’m rating Elizabeth’s 2 stars. This is one of those places I’ve wanted to try for a longgggg time. «OMG! You have to go and try the praline bacon!» they said. «It will change your life,» they said. Not only did said bacon not change my life, this place has lost two local customers for life. First of all. The crabcake benedict I ordered had undercooked eggs and there were shells in the crab cakes. I’m usually pretty forgiving about small bits of shell in crab cakes but when the eggs are undercooked too? No. Just no. My hash browns were overcooked and hard as a rock for the most part. I had to drown everything with hot sauce to make it edible. Not good for a New Orleans institution. My friend got an omlette with a similar experience. Then the praline bacon. This was the star of the meal but damn people, you can do this at home. Fry up some bacon dusted with brown sugar. BOOM. Praline bacon. 4 slices of this costs 7 bucks here. You can cook a whole package of it at home for half the price. My crappy crabcake benedict, an omlette, 4 slices of bacon, two overcooked orders of hash browns and two drinks? $ 50.00. Fifty motherf@cking dollars. The tourists can have this place.
