Good bagels here. I needed a break from the traditional NOLA breakfast and the bagels at this Einstein are as good as the ones at any other Einstein Bagel, which in my opinion is very good and fresh.

I’m not sure if it’s just this location or all Einsteins but their coffee tastes burnt… like disgusting burnt. Don’t be fooled by the smell. I can handle their hot chocolate though. I like their food much better. The chocolate bagel with honey almond smear is great. Even their lunch options are good… when they have the ingredients. Many, if not most, of the times they’re out of XYZ. The staff is usually nice if you’re nice to them. A couple of the baristas are warm and friendly. Wish they stayed opened longer… not necessary because they’re amazing, but for the poor souls who have late classes and get the munchies. I believe they close at 3pm.

I’m disappointed. I don’t know what makes hospitals, schools and airports so special that they don’t have to accept coupons, but as this franchise is in Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, they don’t. I have a had a few issues. I bought a salmon bagel sandwich and as they were out of or just didn’t carry capers which is described in the listing, there were none. When I asked for a few slices of cucumber instead, they tried to charge me for them. There is also the bait and switch/pull you in method of offering a salad or soup with a bagel and then taking it away. THAT’s pretty annoying as well.

Considering that there are very few options in the area, I’ll give Einstein one star just for being here. The bagels are actually sort of decent and if I close my eyes and use my imagination, I can pretend they taste like New York bagels. We’ve used them a couple of times at work for catering lunches and I think the deli meat they use is pretty funky, plus for the veggie sandwiches they don’t offer any protein(eggs? cheese? something?) options. Just tomatoes and cucumbers on a bagel. However, they have the most outrageously delicious cookies, I think they have oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip and chocolate chunk. They’re all good but as a chocoholic, I adore the chocolate chunk. They close at 3.
