I’m going to give this one more star than John, based on my latest experience. In the past, I have gone in person to the Toll Tag store and have been met with a long line and so-so customer service. Granted, the employees probably have people yelling at them all day, so I’ll cut them a bit of slack for not having a smile on their face and being personable. Well, I recently had my debit card number stolen, used fraudulantly, and subsequently canceled. Silly me, I forgot that my Toll Tag account was tied to that card. It didn’t automatically refill, and eventually I got down to a $ 0 balance. Thus, the next time I went through, I got hit with a $ 26 fine in the mail. One phone call later, the Toll Tag people waived the fine(except for a $ 1 fee to have it removed) and I gave them my updated account information. Not too bad! I actually fully expected to have to pay it, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask — and it paid off.

The toll tag store is the place to purchase, or pay on your toll tag. The tag store does not have a drive through so you must park and go inside. I believe new tags cost $ 12.50(brake tag kind) or $ 40(old style). Once you have a tag, it will work on the bridge headed to Port Fourchon and on the Causeway(you have to contact the causeway to link accounts). The tag store is only open till 4:30 most days but it is open till 7:30 on Thursdays. There is a tag reader in the parking lot where you can test the positioning of your tag. That way you wont be sitting in a tag only lane fiddling with the placement of your tag.
